This tournament always seems to have high quality champions, but every year a different one. Only Henin won it twice since 1998. And with Wozniacki not playing this year, a very good chance for the trend to continue.

'98 - Coetzer
'99 - Hingis
'00 - Pierce
'01 - Capriati
'02 - Schnyder
'03 - Henin
'04 - V Williams
'05 - Henin
'06 - Petrova
'07 - Jankovic
'08 - S Williams
'09 - Lisicki
'10 - Stosur
'11 - Wozniacki

In addition, no player has been a 3-time Charleston finalist since Martina Hingis ('97, '99, '01). Henin, Serena, Wozniacki, Zvonareva and Schnyder were all twice in the final.
