As for Melanie, credit to her for still trying after the tribulations of the last year. :yeah:

After last week having two excellent wins. It was to be expected that Heather would fall to a nobody here. She has no consistency. Whilst Oudin isn't a nobody her current form would suggest she is. Heather, I'm worried about, hopefully she can recover.

How can we explain this horror show?

Presumably it's one of these weird change of surface upsets, that we often see when a low-ranked player beats a higher-ranked one in her first match on the surface, mainly because the latter has not yet adjusted to the surface.

This must explain Heather's dud performance - her unexpectedly good result in Miami meant that she had not practised enough on green clay to get her game together. Or maybe she has just reverted to the abysmal form she has showed for most of the year, though even then she managed to beat Oudin earlier in the year. Britain is having such a terrible women's tennis year, it's the worst losing streak since the English lost half of France to the French in the first half of the 13th century!!! :tape::help:

As for Melanie, she is a streaky player and even the bad streak was bound to end at some point. My guess is that a combination of falling out of the top 300 and seeing Alexandra Stevenson crying after losing to Larcher de Brito whilst being viciously scolded by her evil mother (just guessing this happened but I bet it did, I have seen it with my own eyes in the past) gave her a horrific vision that this is what she was becoming and put the major frighteners on her. Let's face it, Mel is now in a do or die position in her career, facing a sort of ranking purgatory, where she is too low ranked to get into GS qualies, and was incredibly lucky even to get a QWC here, even these will start to run out soon. It will be interesting to see whether this is just a blip or whether Melanie can start another one of her streaks, Rampre is definitely beatable.

She really has a weird body

She has a body like Bartoli and in some ways Petrova-They are barrel chested with a large ribcage. Look at Bartoli and Petrova--even in good shape they are always chunky around the middle--they just don't lose weight in those areas. they lose weight in their legs. I am the opposite--I lose weight in the stomach, but never in the legs/backside :(. Still, I rather be a pear shape than an apple shape like those 3.

Milk is gross, Mel. Substitute coconut milk, coconut water, or almond milk--much better for you! If she went raw vegan, for awhile she could really get lean.
