Caroline and Na have no chance to defend their points.

Caroline even won't play in Charleston to defend her title, so how she can defend more than 2000 points :spit:

Vika and Maria in their current form are able to save their points. Yes, even Maria who behaves like cow on ice on clay :oh:

Marion is going to play everywhere so she can even earn more points.

Serena :spit:

Agnieszka :sobbing:

Wozniacki 280
Bartoli 200
Li 60
Zvonareva 120
Williams 0

Its interesting that the points will be taken off one week ahead comparing to when they were played last year, so players will be dropping points before they can defend it. Rankings will be messed up a lot.

Amazing. Vika has a Slam, YEC final, Slam semifinal, five other titles and somehow Radwanska could find herself at #1 without a Slam semifinal.

Holy Hera, that's a lot of Caro clay points. Also not sure if Maria can defend all those points, sure helps she's playing Stuttgart. Also NaNa's gonna take a ranking dive.

Azarenka should keep top ranking.

Sharapova ought to keep no 2 ranking.

Battle for no 3 ranking between Kvitova and Radwanska.

Stosur should stay at 5, presuming she has a better clay season than last year's disappointing outing.

Battle for no 6 ranking between Wozniacki, Bartoli and Serena.

Li Na and Zvonareva will drop back, Na probably out of the top 10.

The list you created doesn’t reflect how WTA’s ranking work: You included results which are irrelevant for players ranking after Roland Garros 2012 and you forgot to add those who come into play.

Here is an easy to read table of off ranking points:

Stosur 940 (200 P700 Stuttgart ./. 120 P700 Dubai, 140 PM Madrid, 620 P5 Rome ./. 60 P700 Brisbane & 160 GS RG)

Does that mean that, if Azarenka doesn't play again til Madrid (as she's indicated), Maria could end up at #1 for a week by default when Azarenka's 700 points from making the Madrid final drop off a week before she plays again?

I keep saying this, but I think people are going to be surprised how poorly Radwanska does on clay. Because her shots are so flat with so little weight of shot or spin on them, they're just going to stop dead after bouncing on clay, and will be eaten up by any competent ballstriker. The last 3 seasons in a row, her worst results came on clay by far. I wouldn't be surprised if she falls before the Qtrs at both Rome and Madrid...so she probably won't pick up many points.

Yes, Sharapova will have to win Miami and at least reach Stuttgart final. That's assuming that she will get a zero for Charleston. If she doesn't get a zero for Charleston , a Miami win and Stuttgart semi will be enough.
