Wonderful news! I had just assumed she would go the Golovin way a never comeback  Let's see how she does in such a big tournament after a year off... playing smaller tournaments at first would be wiser IMO, but I'm happy that she's able to play tennis again!!

Some of the recent Stuttgart qualifying draws have been of ITF quality (Karatantcheva was seeded No.4 in qualies in 2010!) so it might not be the worst idea.

Unexpected but very good news. Might be better to test the waters a bit on the ITF tour first but I will trust she knows what she is doing. It will be good to have her back on the tour and I hope she is able to handle the wear and tear of it.

Just so you guys know, Ági was playing with a fucked up back for about three years before she finally realized what the problem was, so her decline and shitty form after her initial brilliance can largely be explained by that. Also, I'm not sure whether it was due to food allergies or something else but she had a nagging virus as well. IF (big if) her back is actually better, we could expect big things from her :).

What excellent news! I'm so happy! I really hope she can win a match or 2 in Qualies. Stuttgart is SO tough though. I'm sure she's just coming back there because it's convenient and a good event for her. I doubt she has crazy expectations for her immediate return.

She plays such beautiful tennis, and if her serve is back, there's no reason she won't shoot up the rankings.

Back on court

Ági held a press conference today at Oxygen Naphegy Wellness Center. Replying to the questions of the journalists, she talked about her life in the past year and her plans for the 2012 season.
Ági played her last match at Roland Garros last May. She was forced to temporarily retire from competition due to a stress fracture in her back. After trying a couple of treatments, she found the prananadi method. After a couple of months’ treatment, Ági doesn’t feel any more pain in her lower back, neither in personal life, nor during training, which she started a couple of weeks ago.
During the long months of recovery, Ági had a chance to catch up on things she had to neglect while playing, i. e. spending time with her family, friends and fans.
After a few weeks of fitness trainings, she started the on-court trainings two weeks ago with her former coach, Gábor Köves. As it turns out, Ági hasn’t forgotten how to play tennis. :)
However, last week she had to take a short break, due to a frontal sinus inflammation, but hopefully she will be back on the courts next week.
She is planning to start competing in the qualifying in Stuttgart, using her protected ranking, and after that in Budapest, possibly with a wild card. Her participation at these tournaments will greatly depend on her trainings next week.
However, she has already entered the WTA tournament in Madrid, starting on the 5th May. She will use her protected ranking and will be in the main draw.
The protected ranking can be used at eight tournaments, including one Grand Slam. She is planning to use it at Roland Garros, and as she is qualified for the Olympics, she is planning to play in London as well.

What would her protected ranking be exactly? Why would she be qualified for the Olympics? :)
