It'll be a shitfest. But Maria will win if she's able to maintain a 70+ 1st serve % like she's done all tournament. That'll be enough to give her some holds and bail her out of trouble.

Sharapova to win. She's beaten Radwanska the last 6 times they have played... even during the periods when Maria was not playing that well. Havent seen her lose to players she has such a lopsided h2h with.

This real #2 shit is going to end on Saturday night when Maria hands Aga her first loss to someone not named Vika. Aga's form this year has been so overrated, it just makes me sick. This is the first time this year where she faces a real elite player other than Vika,, so it will be a good test to see whether Aga has improved her game. Unfortunately, Aga is Maria's bitch and she will fail the test. Maria in straights to send Aga back to Poland. 61 64.

Sinc that fluke 2007 US Open result, Mashenka was beating up on poor Agatha even in her worst years on tour (2009-2010). Hard to see how she loses this, unless she has another brain freeze, just like at the end of first set yesterday...

C. Drone

obviously its pretty similar to the Karolina-matchup, only Radwanska has weaker 1st serve, redirects ball better although with less pace but flatter, and forces opponent in uncomfortable positions with her junk.
Also it helps that Maria used her time for occasional rallying this week, wont surprise her hitting 1-2 more shots in every rally.

in other words, Maria should really flog this peasant.

- Maria makes a lot of UEs - Aga wins, because she is consistent.

Let me remind you all that their last match during RG 2011 was really close, Aga was leading in both sets..before choking really bad.

I hope Aga has matured enough during the last year and has gained enough confidence to finally break this losing streak.

I actually think this match up is entirely up to Aga to win or lose. Aga has the game to beat Maria. Her game should put enough pressure on Maria’s serve and ground strokes to break it down.

Aga needs to bring her best serve game (all those aces against Venus :drool: ). If she stays mentally strong, believes and executes her game plan, she will make the Old Yeller hit tons of errors and will take her down!

Hmm. In the semis, Pova sent a Polish immigrant to wherever she emigrated to, and now she'll be sending a Polish native back to her home country. She seems excited.

If Karolina can't beat Pova, neither can Fugly Aga. Can't see Radwandska winning this one if Maria serves consistently again. Either that or someone up there has the hots for Ma$ha. Can't believe how deep she gets into tournaments despite playing like shit 3 out of 4 matches.

P.S. Le Pova won 17 out of her last 18 3-set matches. lol

Well I think Aga's season is so overrated lol. Yes she's been good, better than most of players but seriously beside Vika she didn't face any real threat. This week was very easy for her lol, Keys, Soler Espinosa, Murguza (yes she beat Zvonareva and Pennetta but she's still ranked way lower and young and inexperimented and she got lucky to fall on 2 of the highest players who are struggling right now) then she beat Venus who was really tired after her big effort this week, and dispatched an injured Bartoli  I mean yes she was impressive but she didn't beat any top 5 nor any top 10 players in form this tournment. Her whole season ain't much better, she won many matches but not much against top 10. She also struggled against many players who are low ranked, Wozniak, Mattek Sands and Hampton. I don't think it's gonna be as easy for Sharapova than some people think but she'll get through this in 2 sets.

Her whole season ain't much better, she won many matches but not much against top 10. She also struggled against many players who are low ranked, Wozniak, Mattek Sands and Hampton. I don't think it's gonna be as easy for Sharapova than some people think but she'll get through this in 2 sets.

So when Bartoli beats Azarenka, the undefeated world #1, she is out of form?

you can only beat who's in from of you, most people actually expected Venus to beat her  She's not the only top player to struggle against low-ranked players. Sharapova herself struggled against Peer earlier this tournament.

I have a feeling Radwanska will win. Sharapova got her career back on track thanks to huge heart and iron will, her best tennis shows up only for short patches. Radwanska is not playing her best tennis too, but seems to be closer to it than Sharapova now.

H2H looks lopsided, but it can be reversed or quickly improved when one player largely progresses (different class, but look at Nadal-Djokovic), and Maria has not played "a top 5 Radwanska" yet.

Maria managed to bully Aga, not only with her powerful groundstrokes, I think she managed to bully her mentally too, more so than any other player. That era of Maria's big mental edge is over, I'm sure.

Maria uncharastically managed to lose some big leads in sets lately (Lisicki, Wozniacki to name just a few) and she rarely brings out her best in big, big matches since she came back. This match is big for her, she has so much more to lose than Radwanska.

And we shouldn't forget that Radwanska is an extremely tough final match player.

People often bring the subject of Radwanska succumbing to elite players, funnily enough, "new" Radwanska gave Kvitova her toughest match in the YEC group stage and she actually took a set from Azarenka at AO, no mean feat. She got owned by Azarenka this year, but everybody did, INCLUDING Maria.

All in all, I'd say Aga will tough it out in 2 sets. But it's hard to call. Tennis is always hard to call.

I really hope Maria uses what Aga said in Australia as motivation like she did after that 07 match. Being called annoying and bitched about I'm sure didn't sit well with her and I'm sure she herself couldn't wait to play her again after that. Maria win in 2 please, or if you go to 3 please keep up with the impressive 3 set record.

Hmm....I haven't posted in this thread thus far mostly I suppose because I don't have an idea who will win this match. The bookmakers have Maria as the marginal, although not overwhelming favourite and that is probably about right.

Personally as someone who likes Radwanska a lot more than I do Sharapova I hope she wins this match. I have to say however although Sharapova is admittedly one of my least favourite players I don't hold the hostility towards her that from reading this thread it seems the majority of Sharapova fans hold towards Radwanska. Nor do I have the confidence in Radwanska destroying Sharapova that Sharapova fans seem to have with their favourite. Which is fine with me.

The H2H certainly does suggest Sharapova will win. Of course the two haven't played in almost a year and both players are playing substantially better than they were a year ago. Sharapova seems to have sorted out her serve much better and is overall playing her best tennis since her rotator cuff injury. It is true I haven't been terribly impressed with Sharapova's form during this tournament but it has been good enough to get her to the final. Against Wozniacki it was undeniably patchy but when she was good she was very good and at her best in that match she did dominate Wozniacki very convincingly. Radwanska of course is also much improved since last summer and I've liked what I've seen of her this tournament.

These really are the 2nd and 3rd best players this year. Of course neither can hold a candle to what Azarenka has done this year, but, likewise, I can't think of another player, aside from Azarenka, who can claim to have had more success this year than either Sharapova or Radwanska. So, as the thread starter has suggested, this really is a battle to see who is currently the 2nd best player in the game. Personally I will have no problem at all acknowledging it is Sharapova should she win. And past form does say she will win.

Even so, this is a match I am very much looking forward to. Win or lose, this match will be a great barometer to measure just how much Radwanska has improved over this last year. I am nervous, yes, but intrigued too. It will certainly be a good test for her. Although I am hardly confident of a Radwanska win, I am certainly not without hope.

As for all the Sharapova fans, I am happy they are all so positive and cocky that Sharapova can win. That's really nice for them. Personally, I am glad I do not feel that way about Radwanska myself, as I feel very much prepared to accept a defeat in this match without too much disappointment. I dread to imagine on the other hand the shock and despair it would be to Sharapova fans if their favourite were to lose this match but of course that couldn't possibly happen so we won't even consider such a possibility. :)

Maria will win, too much power for Aga

"I'm very happy to be in the final here for the first time," said Radwanska, who had never been past the quarterfinals here before. "I've played a lot of good matches here, so I just hope I can still play one more after tomorrow."

However it won't be easy for Radwanska to continue that finals streak on Saturday, as her opponent will be Maria Sharapova - she is 1-7 head-to-head against Sharapova, and has lost their last six meetings in a row.

"It's always hard to play against Maria," Radwanska said. "She hits the ball really hard and goes for it from the beginning. I'm just going to try to play aggressively and mix up everything too. We'll see what is going to work."

Radwanska's only win against Sharapova did come in the US, on another very big stage - at the 2007 US Open, on Arthur Ashe Stadium. "Of course I remember that match," the Pole said. "I was around No.30 at that time - it was center court, and she was the defending champion. I have great memories from that match, but it has nothing to do with this tournament, unfortunately, so I just hope I can have some revenge for the last couple of meetings I lost."

Sharapova is a three-time finalist in Miami, but has never won the title - she was a runner-up in 2005 (to Kim Clijsters), 2006 (to Svetlana Kuznetsova) and last year (to Victoria Azarenka). It is the second-biggest tournament she has never won, after the French Open (where she has been a two-time semifinalist).

"It's always disappointing to lose in the finals, but it takes a lot to get to the final too," Sharapova commented. "I'm happy I've given myself another chance to go out there and try to change that. It would be meaningful to me because I have come to this tournament for so many years, ever since I was a young girl. I've always dreamt of playing on this court, let alone being in the finals.

Radwanska is extremely solid, gets many balls back, anticipates well."
