Never mind the official lists or anything like that whats your opinions? Who are your favourites? Mine:

1. Maria Sharapova - (Melted my heart in 2004 like no other female tennis player ever has, will never forget her Wimbledon win at 17)

2. Venus Williams - (Such a fighter, and to come back how she has after all she's been through just proves that)

3. Serena Williams - (The best player the women's game has seen bar none, totally raised the bar and noone else has touched that bar quite yet)

4. Lindsay Davenport - (Always felt she was a fantastic powerful player, one of the few who could cope with the williams sisters in their prime)

5. Steffi Graf - (Grew up watching this lady, Her record speaks for itself)

6. Monica Seles - (Same as Graf)

7. Gabreilla Sabatini - (Great player, Oh and love her perfume!)

8. Ana Ivanovic - (Still feel so many more exciting things to come from this lady, Especially now with her new coach)

9. Marion Bartoli - (Proves you don't have to be a super athlete to acheive, and after last night deffo deserves to be in my top 10 ha ha)

10. Billie-Jean King - (I don't remember her as a player but all she has done for the womens game i would have thought she would be in any female tennis fan's top ten list)

Jana Novotna (no one could choke like Jana, i almost cried a little when she finally won Wimbledon)
Nathalie Tauziat (the last(?) really good serve and volley player)
Martina Hingis (a genius on the court)
Anastasia Myskina (the master of verbal coach abuse during matches)
Dominique van Roost (by far my favourite Belgian player)
Chanda Rubin (prety much the only American player i have ever liked)
Amanda Coetzer (she proved you don´t have to be six feet tall to be a great tennis player)
Elena Dementieva (a top ten player for pretty much a decade despite having perhaps the crappiest serve ever)
Anna Kournikova (she´s still my favourite russian)
Dominika Cibulkova (i liked her a lot from the start, but i absolutely love her since she switched coach and started playing crazy kamikaze tennis)

Serena Williams (What I consider to be the peak of the women's game)
Venus Williams (Just a gazelle on the court)
Lindsay Davenport (Genuine lovely person, fan favorite)
Amelie Mauresmo (Lovely game, with a good story)
Justine Henin (I respect her for her game)
Bethany Mattek Sands (Odd choice I know, but she has a lot of personality)
Martina Navratilova (The absolute best tennis player men or women)
Billy Jean King (Although I didn't see her play, I respect all she's done for women)

1. Sharapova
2. Hingis

No other player can come close. And I doubt anyone will in the future. Though I hope I'm wrong just like I used to be. I was about to give up on women's tennis after Martina's 1st retirement but then Masha arrived.

7. Alize Cornet

I've had my moments with Marion but every match with Molik I was on the edge of my seat and I would be so upset if she didn't win. This is why she is my number one. Dokic and Cornet now hold a similar place for me.

1. Steffi- she wasn't who got me into tennis, but she was my very first "favorite" player. I used to think of her as a super hero when I was a little kid and when I finally met her his year I got a chance to tell her. The real GOAT!!

2. Serena- that fire, that desire, that heart...no one does it quite like her!

3. Iva Majoli- Roland Garros 1997 :hearts:

4. Zina Garrison- I remember watching the year she beat Steffi and Seles back to back at Wimbledon, too bad she was overcome w.nerves against Navratilova in the final

5. Mary Pierce- the Canadian-American-French player. Mary @ her peak in my eyes is power tennis personified!

6. Chris Evert- she's the reason I started watching tennis- my first love!

6. Kim Clijsters
7. Elena Dementieva
8. Natasha Zvereva- loved her two pig-tails!
9. Monica Seles
10. the Maleeva Sisters- I'm the first to complain when people lump Vee w. Rena and here I am lumping, not two but three, sisters together. I loved them all and rooted for whichever one lasted the longest in the draws!

My favourite 8 players in no particular order. I have to add that I my interest in tennis players is rather superficial, I only care for aesthetics (of motions, in an extremely subjective way), not so much about inner values like success, behaviour, glamour, clothing and so on:

Chanda Rubin. Beautiful backhand swing, elegant yet powerful service, and the follow-through of her forehand was so cute!
Kimiko Date. That strange, static short-swinging forehand was love on the first sight for me.
Monica Seles. That short-swing punching forehand on one leg, and the double-handed forehand volleys. Her service motion was ugly, but I was still young and tolerant.
Natalie Tauziat. Elegant service motion, her footwork at the net was "delicious" both on volleys and overheads. Her groundstroke forehand didn't do much gamewise, but it looked so smooth.
Justine Henin. Her footwork towards the shots, and the dramaturgy of the following shots. Her top-spin backhand was always a little one acter on its own.
Li Na. Her footwork alone is yummy, and her swinging forehand motion that starts at her feet and moves up through her body is just soo beautiful.
Sandrine Testud. Never liked the bowed down close to the body backhand, but her elegant forehand swing made up for that easily.
Hsieh Su-Wei. How can you not love a double-handed backhand slice on the forehand side? Her crisp "real" backhand swing ...

Honestly don't know the order.

In order of when they were my 'Fave'

Martina Hingis late 1990's (the first female tennis player I was really interested in around the time I started to play and follow tennis, she won 3 slams out of 4 back in 1997)
THEN
Anna Kournikova late 1990's and early 2000's (I was in love with Anna K long before Sabine )
THEN
Ana Ivanovic (saw her play live at AO 2007 and when she had success in 2008 I followed her closely, my support for kind of died for some reason don't know why...)
THEN in 2010 discovered my fascination SABINE LISICKI :hearts: she was injured but caught up on what I'd missed, then talked to her on twitter and then saw her best tennis in the grass 2011 season, and recently early 2012- Sorana Cirstea too after she knocked out Sam Stosur at AO I became a fan and start to watch her alot more closely.

I guess the other 5 fave players would be Sam Stosur, Jarmila Gajdosova, Alicia Molik, Mary Pierce and Maria Kirilenko.

Technically I have no favorite player, but in terms of the players that I do like :

1. Venus Williams (such an incredible fighter, classy and beautiful woman inside and out, on and off the court)
2. Lindsay Davenport (Love her as a commentator and as a competitor)
3. Li Na (Was so happy for her when she finally won the French Open)
4. Jelena Jankovic (Just love her personality)
5. Petra Kvitova (Sort of liked her already when I watched her beat Safina, solidified when she thrashed Woz at Wimby)
6. Serena Williams (Just a great champion with a personality and one of the best fighters of all time)
7. Victoria Azarenka (Finally a worthy No.1 after a slew of pretenders...sorry Jelena :D)
8. Maria Sharapova (I like her fighter mentality and the fact she doesn't go all out to make others like her, hey she's real unlike a certain tryhard!)
9. Elena Dementieva (Was tough to see her retire, she gave many good matches when still active)
10. Svetlana Kuznetsova (Just want her to pick up her game ASAP)

Amy Frazier - most GS tournaments played and longest stay(18 years) in top 100 of a non-top 10 player

Anke Huber - reached GS final and Year-End Championships final losing only in 5th set to Graf

Virginia Ruano-Pasqual - one of the greatest doubles players with great win over Hingis at W

Vera Dushevina - ugliest and the most ineffective forehand, but still has a WTA singles title ;)

No need to look abroad, if your country produces so many tennis goats:

Martina Navratilova, Martina Hingis, Hana Mandlikova - clearly the best products of Czech tennis
Jana Novotna & Helena Sukova - great singles players and a terrific doubles team
Petra Kvitova - very talented ballstriker who may win several Wimbledons, the best is yet to come

Foreign players: Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Chris Evert

Martina Hingis comes from Slovakia, not Czech Rapublic.

Even Navratilova (after whom Hingis got her first name) said in an interview that she considers Hingis as a Czech player. Why?

Very simple:

- Martina Hingis was born in Slovakia, but was raised and learned to play tennis in the Czech Republic, where she lived until 8 yers of age, her mother tongue is Czech
- when she was eight she moved to Switzerland (Swiss German became her second language)
- when she was twelve, she returned back to the Czech Republic and started to play for Czech tennis club TK Prostějov where she then played for another six years, it's the very same club where Jana Novotna played then and where Petra Kvitova is playing now
- throughout her career, she was coached by her mother Melanie, a former top ten Czech player

She's purely a Czech tennis product and Switzerland's and Slovakia's contribution to her tennis development is almost zero. In fact, she's actually mainly the product of her extremely ambititous mother, who wanted to make her a great player. Today, we all know that her mother succeeded!

1: Jennifer CAPRIATI- her rise from nothing gave me goosebumps and players today like dokic are trying with no success to try and emulate her comeback. That's why it's so unique and special her talent really showed at the end. Plus her show of heart and her outburst of frustration were great too, a legend for sure !!!!

2: jelena Jankovic- her game and her skills are unmatched she's a great mover good ground strokes ( she's a thinking and has the ability to do great things but her biggest hurdles have been her mental strength she needs to toughen up and play brilliant like she can

3: Serena Williams - such a champ

4: victoria azarenka- tough competitor

5: Marion Bartoli- she's done wonders with her fame style and she's fit too now plus she's a fighter!

6: Lindsay Davenport- such great strokes

7: Sabine lisicki

8: Jelena Dokic- I feel bad for her but she's trying

9: Andrea petkovic

They were around during the late 1980s, the 1990s and early part of the 2000s, the sorts of players that would go unnoticed to non serious Tennis watchers except maybe for Rittner

Angeles Montolio - was a solid baseliner
Barbara Schwartz
Emmanuel Gagliardi - Good Italian player
Elke Clijsters - Started around the same time as Kim, I think they may be related but not sure
Tara Snyder
Mara Santangelo
Barbara Rittner - Played her best tennis in the late 80s into the 90s, I think she is now German fed cup coach
Paola Suarez - Very good clay courter
Meredith McGrath
Asa Carlsson - I may be incorrect but I think her brother was on the ATP tour (Kenneth)

Martina Hingis
I grew up and saw a lot of her match, genius on the court, great game, natural tennis, she was classy on court and has play some amazing matches, loved her
Chanda Rubin
Great game, good condition, smart player and very pure hitting, modern game
Patty Schnyder
Loved her, she was not a big hitter, but play with a wonderful and and good touch of ball, always interesting seeing her play
Lindsay Davenport
The best mixture of power and control has improved a lot during her career for her physique condition
Justine Henin
Great explosivity in her game and what a backhand
Steffi Graf
What to say about her, so classy on court and a beautiful women and athlete
Petra Kvitova
She its the ball so well with all of her body, very talented player she goes for it
Agnieska Radwanska
Loved her because her game is not very powerful, but she is complete and has a wonderfull hand, she plays with the ball...
Anna Chakvetadze
When she is confident she is very competetiv and has a natural game
Vera Zvonareva
So cleaver women, her hitting is pure, good technique and lot of emotion when she plays

Love the game of Maureen Connolly (not enough footage either), Margaret Court, Billie Jean King, Rosie Casals, Virginia Wade, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Wendy Turnbull, Pam Shriver, Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Gabriela Sabatini, Arantxa Sanchez, Mary Jo Fernandez, Conchita Martinez, Mary Pierce, Amelie Mauresmo, Martina Hingis, Irina Spirlea, Ana Ivanovic, Kim Clijsters, Sam Stosur, Madison Keys...

I'm not even sure I could mention a player's game or style that I hate. That's the sport that is beautiful in the first place (as early as it's mastered, of course :oh:)

I don't really have a top 10 list but Serena is at the top, I don't think I will ever support someone as much as I support her. My list is something like this:

1. Serena! (Queen of tennis)
2. Vika/Li/Sloane (I like them equally and they rotate in order, so they are all joint second together lol).
3. Laura (she would probably be tied with Li, Vika and Sloane, if she was more consistent).
4. Caroline (Only when she is aggressive with her backhand, it is actually a really good shot when she uses it properly and accordingly :p).

I have afew others but these are the main ones in order lol. Sloane and Laura will get into my signature if they have more consistent results lol)

1. Ana Ivanovic: I was a fan since 2004, but really noticed her at the 2005 French Open.

2. Venus and Serena Williams: My first tennis players that I rooted for. Made me feel so connected with the sport I already played since I am black. First saw both in 1998

3. Monica Seles: Shortly after, I really liked Monica's style. Became a fan in 2000

4. Kim Clijsters: I play most similarly to Kim, and her first big slam at Roland Garros put her in my view.

My all time favorite is Venus Ebone Starr Williams.
I fell in love with her after she defeated Shaun Stafford in Oakland in 1994 and how well (up a set and a break) she played against Arantxa Sánchez Vicario before losing the match in the following round. Racism and bigotry on the aol message boards forced me to embrace her even more. She's class personified :hearts:

The others are in no particular order

Monica Seles-loved her fierceness and that grunt :hearts:
Silvia Farina Elia-oh so pretty :hearts:
Steffi Graf
Mary Pierce
Big Lindsay
Zina Garrison
Amanda Coetzer
Jelena Dokic
Jana Novotna

No. 1 to No.8 - Venus Williams

No. 9 and No. 10 - Serena Williams and Li Na, in no particular order.

Venus, in my mind, is the most frustrating player to watch and/or support at times; actually, most of the time. But she is my favourite player of all time and always will be.
