With Miami-GOAT/2012 GOAT (:oh:) Vuvurenka out, which of these girls will win it?

Miami Bridesmaid can't win a final Pova?
Princess current former world number 1?
Agatha?
Marion the Conqueror?

Sharapova I think.

Mar 29th, 2012, 01:41 AM
Hopefully Aga!!

Second choice would be Woz. Woz really needs to beat Sharapova so Sharapova won't come close to Azarenka's ranking points.

I don't think Horatio Caine would have guessed an outcome like this

95% of people here were picking Azarenka and Serena (some guy from tennis.com even picked Kvitova :spit: ) to win Miami, but as we saw, they didn't even make it to SF (count me in those 95% too )

Now we have Marion, Aga, Sharapova and Caro fighting it for the title.

Sharapova isn't playing good, Aga is good (nothing special, wasn't really challenged), Marion was today (but she made some big surprises at big tournaments but didn't follow it thru...) and Carolina was really good against Serena (plus it's a BIG confidance win).

I'd normally prefer Masha to win it, but...Radwanska's haters made me cheer for Aga so badly :bigclap:

All four players are ranked in the top 8. It's not that surprising a final four actually.

This is Maria's tournament to lose or win -- she never won Miami and this is really her golden opportunity to not only win something big but to also win this tournament which has been failing her for so long. Theoretically she's the better player of all the remaining SF's --

Hopefully she doesn't f-ck this up.

Radwanska should defeat Bartoli with ease, Aga's game is a nightmare for Cake and Cake hasn't taken a set since 2008 --

So it'll be a F Aga (Caroline or Maria) so up to Maria to do her job and considering her record to Radwanska she'll meet in the F.

I think Aga will beat Bartoli and I'm hoping Maria beats Woz. A Radwanska/Maria final could go either way

Exactly. Serena vs Venus, now that would have been surprising.

Hard to pick a winner here, but I've got a hunch it will be Caro.

All four Semifinalists entered their Quarterfinals as underdogs, significant underdogs. All four emerged victorious with substantial wins over their highly favored opponents in straight sets. Each player can make the case that 2012 Miami has already been a successful tournament, regardless of the outcome of the Semifinals:

Marion beat the Tournament Defending Champion and World #1! In fact, Marion is the first player ever to defeat this particular #1 player and ended the Vika Match March at 26! That should keep Marion smiling at least until 2012 RG.

ARad and Woz beat the Williams Sisters soundly, thoroughly and completely. The wins are tainted, though, because the sisters played "old, slow, out of shape, breathless and exhausted" and shouldn't have lasted deep enough in the tournament to meet them. So the wins aren't completely satisfying.

Pova rolled to a routine win over a scrub-like LiNa. If LiNa didn't commit a UFE quickly enough, Pova would just hit a winner to nudge her along. A satisfying way to end a four match h2h losing streak.

So logic would suggest that Woz and ARad are the most hungry to win their Semifinals and, if that happened, Woz would win 2012 Miami. But all things are not equal...

Pova is still in the running, had an easy, short QF match and has a day of rest before the Semifinal with Woz. A rejuvenated Pova defeats Woz in the Semifinal and goes on to win 2012 Miami on Saturday.

Please Maria. It sucks that she's not shown good form, because the rest of the players in the draw have nothing to trouble her with if she's playing well.

Can't look past her for pickings though. Her match with Woz will decide the winning of course.

I'm hoping for a Bartoli-Sharapova final with Bartoli winning, but I'd be happy with Sharapova winning. Just not Wozniacki or Radwanska, ffs.

Preferably a Maria-Marion final.

Maria winning is pretty much the only result that can salvage Miami's perfect winners record, but I wouldn't mind Marion winning too actually.

Since they are playing in the Sunshine state it is only fitting that Sunshine wins. So I am supporting Caro for the win but I would not be disappointed at all if Marion or Aga won.

Omg this too... It's an immaculate hall of fame.

Yep, I think Maria will win. Biggest hurdle will be Wozniacki, there's no way she'll ever lose to Radwanska again and she knows exactly how to play against Cake.

With Azarenka out, a big opportunity has opened up for Maria. She's not been playing well enough to beat the "new" Caro, but if she can find her game now for 2 matches the title is as good as hers.

I'm sorry who is the "new" Caro? The one that was hammered by Ivanovic a couple of weeks ago?

The Caro who had equal aces to Serena Williams, the Caro who flattened out her FH more, the Caro who dictated play with her BH.

I used quotation marks as obviously it could have been a one off. But Maria has 0% chance of winning this if she goes into the match playing like she did against Na.

Well at least, she finally got a big win over Serena Williams....does this count as her (almost) grand slam ?
