And that makes JJ a Grand Slam champion :woohoo:

P.S. Sharapova was underdog against Na as Đoković is underdog in a match against me!

Sharapova (winner of many polls) was even an underdog on TF. Na also had just beaten Lisicki who she really struggles with. The outcome of the match was surprising, to say the least.

The YEC is the 5th slam.

Miami not even a 6th slam worthy, Sarin only gave 20% of her! 6th Slam is Copenhagen

How the heck was Maria an underdog :o

Maria/Marion winning is the only thing that can save Miami right now.

Sharapova was the underdog against FlopNa? :spit:

Its the only semis of the 5th Slam that was as it should 've been. Na got enough fluke wins against Martha.

Bartoli was the only real underdog, and even that result wasn't that surprising given the cracks that were appearing in Vika's game.

"underdog" might not be the right term for Masha, but you can say all the QF wins were against the H2H trend.

Yes, but why does everybody think that the H2H is the thing that trumps everything else? Nobody who looked closely at the players' form could be very surprised at any of these results.

It was Serena's first tournament since AO, but considering Caro's long time slump her win was a pretty big surprise. I cheered for Caro and thought she had a chance but I considered Serena the favorite. All other Caro fans I talked to did, too.

Na Li is the favourite? :haha:

Well, many people who watched the Sharapova 4R match said that Li would be the favourite in the qtrs. Not only based on the H2H, but also based on the fact that Sharapova was out of form. Interestingly, virtually all people who had watched the Li-Lisicki match said that Sharapova would win the qtrs ...

Didn't you pick Venus and Serena Williams as winners in the 1/4?

I picked Serena to win as well, but I wasn't very surprised that Caro won. It's very hard even for Serena to win back-to-back against two tough opponents with little match practice.

Yes I did, but I was not highly confident in either case. I certainly didn't see Caro and Aga as clear underdogs.

who gives a **** what people think? the betting market shows that woz and bart were big underdogs, pova and rads were favourites. betting before each qf was as follows:

Marion Bartoli Victoria Azarenka 4.83 - 1.17
Agnieszka Radwanska Venus Williams 1.58 - 2.35
Caroline Wozniacki Serena Williams 3.56 - 1.29
Maria Sharapova Na Li 1.49 - 2.59
