Three years ago she was so close to Top 100. She still isn't there... Wasn't she supposed to be the next big thing? Was she injured or...?

She played great matches in Fed Cup this year, beat Peer for example. :) Since then she disappeared.

yup, it was off the back of qualifying for rg and then making it to rd3 after beating zheng jie, who was ranked top 20 at the time.
she has won a 25k this year, and she is inside the top100 in the race rankings. there's still time for her to fulfil her potential, but i dunno if she ever will. she was possibly pushed too fast, too young.

I really saw her as the biggest talent, but she seems to be a weird girl.

She's still 19 after all, even if it seems like she's been here since forever. And the 4th '93 girl in rankings, after Babos, Stephens and Garcia. No need to worry.
I mean, yes, she could've been much better than this by now, but she's still a clear top 100 potential. It would be nice to have a Portuguese there.

I know she is young, but since she was Top 100 at the age of 17 and then dropped out I was just wondering what happened to her.
P.S. She won a 25k event, not especially strong one, so that isn't a Top 100 sign...

For her style I think it's easier to swing away without thinking at a young age. The game is so much simpler, but once you get jaded after some bad losses, and mistakes it's harder to just swing out, you're just thinking too much.

True, I remember When she first came out and she crack the top 100 I thought she on her way being top 20 and a threat in the slam, but I think she going get it together and hopefully make some good run in WTA event, she for sure didn't fall as low as Oudin so that a good thing, and when you look at it, When most of those young teens bust into the top 100 they fall down fast due too all the hype the media but on them like Vandeweghe, Jovanovski, Rus hopefully the four can find they're way back into the top 100 again.

Yeah, that is the case most probably...
As for Jovanovski, well last year she played like a top 70 player (was No 50 or something) and now she is 106., so she is still no where near falling down fast. :p

Is there really someone who wants her to become a top player? I mean, the girl is so annoying.

She actaully had some great wins in her last Fed Cup tie and played really well. Maybe she's coming back slowly.

She doesn't hit hard enough to win big matches.
Her first serve is average and her second serve is pretty weak.

At 17/18 she was looking like one of the girls who would surely be top 10 in 2-3 years.

Now... much less certain. The talent and game are there, but mentally she's not the same.

Well, there's only 3 U20 years old in top 100 (McHale, Babos, Stephens) so yes. Unfortunately, but yes.

Maybe it's just me, but weren't there like 20 under 20 players in the Top 100 like five years ago :tape:

im not a fan at all of de brito, she is pretty annoyng/rude on court

but i mean, she is just 19, she will surely get the 100 again, and she will have a good carrer, but she just will take more time than we all expected

WTA is changing...we will se less and less teens in the top 100

Yep. But 5 years is quite a long time and I see no revival of that. Maybe a teen wonder, but I don't see it happening soon.

I thought you're a big fan, considering she beat Grace Min this year  By the way, why do you hate the poor girl?

I frankly don't think Michelle will ever make top 20, as Pivovarova won't ever be in top 50
Caroline and Laura are still 18 and I can definitely see them in top 20 someday, or even top 10. But they need to get their shit together:help:
