Leaving her paralyzed for life.

This makes me sick.
Starting a firefight in a shop with kids running around. :fiery:

What type of sentence does this grievous bodily harm act bring in London?

Here in the US, this type of story gets overlooked.

One of those stories I refered to is that of Delric Waymon Miller IV

Glad to hear they caught the douchebags who did this.

That video is horrifying - I'm surprised I made it through without smashing my laptop screen.

This is entirely fucked up. Child minding her business, not bothering anyone and now she's paralyzed because of some cowardly, gun-toting bastards!

No regards for life whatsoever.

One second the little girl is dancing. The next she's paralyzed.

They should hang those bastards. :fiery:

The shooting happened a year ago but the footage has only recently been released.

Update on the story:

This sucks.

I thought that people in England used knives because guns were nearly impossible to get. :fiery:

Gun crime is considerably more common in the US than in Britain.

It's a grotesque and terrible incident. No penalty is high enough for the assailants.

A near-monthly occurance in Oakland.

This is true. Is anybody disputing that? I really thought that there were no gun crimes in Britain. The police used to not carry guns. Is that still true?

My mistake sorry.

There is gun crime in Britain, though at nothing like US levels.

There are specialist units of armed police in Britain, but your average policeman still does not carry a gun.

Every country will have some gun crime, however tiny...but somewhere like Japan, where I live now, has a staggeringly low rate...

Sad but not surprised, London is the most dangerous european capital. I have numerous friends in unis in London that are afraid to go out at night

Rubbish. Statistically London is the safest Capital in Europe! There are pockets but even so called hotspots like Brixton, while grotty, and Brixton really is grotty, they are still safer than the hotspots of other Capitals in Europe. Central London is one of the safest places in the World.

I was in Amsterdam recently and couldn't believe the filth and dirt and rif raf loitering around!

My heart sunk when I read the title of the thread.
Doubt I can even watch the video.

I hope the bastards get what they deserve and hope the girl somehow miraculously recovers with future medicine.

That was mostly the case back in the day.

WikiP: "A Home Office study published in 2007 reported that gun crime in England and Wales remained a relatively rare event. Firearms were used in 21,521 recorded crimes. (That figure includes includes 3,275 crimes involving imitation firearms and 10,437 involving air weapons.) It said that injury caused during a firearm offence was rare, with fewer than 3% of offences resulting in a serious or fatal injury.[41]

The number of homicides per year committed with firearms remained between 49 and 97 in the eight years to 2006. There were two fatal shootings of police officers in England and Wales in this period, and 107 non-fatal shootings - an average of 9.7 per year over the same period.[42]"
