I think today she proved that, great variety, smart, great serve, controlled aggression. She can achieve great things. :wavey:

Her forehand is still a problem. But she uses her skillset well, and I still expect her to have a good career, even thou she slumped after the Hantuchova, Cibulkova losses

She played well today, but she still
a)can't hit a flat forehand
b)can't slice
c)can't volley
Beating a champion well past her prime isn't indicative of anything. I'd still say Petra is the most talented one

a) sometimes she does, but it's not a big deal, topspin is the way to go for the future anyways.
b) and c) I don't think so.

Honestly, what's up with these threads.

Who's the Troll Queen? She needs to be killed before it lays any more eggs.

Even if the ball comes up half court she can't hit a winner with it, opponents always have an out hitting to her FH, Serena didn't use it enough though. Rest is minor in comparison. Mind you Caro played great tonight, deserved win :cheer:.

No. Kvitova definitely has the most potential there in terms of just how much is in her game (serve, forehand, backhand, drop shot, volleys), she has every attacking shot in the book. Whether this leads to the most success from the new generation is up for debate (will she ever put it together for a long stretch for starters)? Its not really up for debate Wozniacki as having the most talent though (see flaws in her forehand, volleys [especially forehand volley]).

You're just now starting this thread AFTER she was No. 1 for over a year? What is your problem? And to answer your question, HELL NO.

If her forehand was always as good as it was tonight, I doubt we'd be constantly ragging on it. Her backhand and fitness are elite, and sometimes her serve.

So, in the past two weeks we had -
1. Mona Barthel, the real No2
2. Garbine Muguruza, Top10
3. Serena will defeat Azarenka
4. SW & VW will be No1 and No2 soon
5. And now this

And all that happened after just one good match.

no, she is not the most talented player just because she beat Serena today :tape:

Kvitova and Azarenka are head and shoulders above Wozniacki.

Beating Sarin once doesn't mean anything.
Even Makarova did, that makes her the best? :tape: she even had a better score line, you know. :oh:

You must hate Wozniacki to start a thread like this.

Both stosur and makarova beat serena with better scorelines, and it was because she was injured/tired/not really there. But when caro does it, she's the most talented? Double standards much?

You have to laugh sometimes, Wozniaicki has only got to where she has in the game because of her mental and physical strength nothing else. I don't think she has much talent at all it's a lot of hard work and mental discipline. She only has one shot the backhand her volley's are poor, I'm not not sure she actually knows what a slice is and her forehands have hit me written all over them.

Although I do admire her as a person and what she has achieved on the court despite her limited resources.

No, Caro is definitely not the most talented player of her generation. But she may end up being the most accomplished one simply due to mental fortitude.

For me - Radwanska - I just adore the way this girl plays (currently destroying Venus) Everytime i think that she has reached her highest possible ranking she surprises me further. No 3 in sight.

Her variety is superb and she completely ignores the consequences of her poor second serve. Reminds me of Goolagong. Wonderful to watch!

She may not be the MOST talented but does anyone else make better use of the ability that she does have?

I agree that when she has to use variety, she can. But so far this year, she has rarely made use of this and just pushes, which is why vika beats her so easily. If she gave a shit every match, then she could be a hingis-lite player, but she is content just retrieving so often, its gets boring watching her.

If Wozniacki is the most talented of this generation, then this is the worse generation probably of the open era.....

But thankfully this is not the case (that Wozniacki is the most talented). There are players who are much more talented than Wozniacki.

But I will give credit to Wozniacki for this, I can apply what Jim Courier said 20 years ago. An interviewer asked him about comparing his talent to some of his contemporaries, Courier gave a brilliant answer - he said he had a talent for hard work. I would put Wozniacki in that category.

And yet is inferior.

How is Petra inferior? You'd argue she's had a more successful career already, and she's a lot further away from her full potential than Caroline is. Petra on her day is still going to be able to beat anyone. The same cannot be said of any form of Wozniacki we're yet to see - sure she could mould into a more aggressive player, but we're yet to see it, and it doesn't really seem to be the direction she's heading in either. Afterall Wozniacki has said multiple times that she believes her current game is good enough to win a major.
