Despite the name the game is very simple. Game manager puts OOP every day. You pick winners and set rates for all the matches and your task is over for the day. ( If you are lazy to pick set rates then 2-0 will be given to your picks. )
There are five different disciplines, all using the same picks. Disciplines I. (TC) and V. (FO) are easy, really does not need any extra from you. Discipline II. (WAR) might need a little bit of strategy. Discipline III. (Sequence) and IV.(PRO) need some time if you care about them. (It is possible to have different picks for different disciplines if you wish to)
There are individual races for each discipline and for the pentathlon too. You can create teams (5 players) if you wish, there are 2 kind of team races involved too. (Details later)

Disciplines
Discipline I. – TC (for historical reasons)
Scoring is easy. You got three points if you pick the winner and the correct set ratio. You got two points if you pick the winner and incorrect set ratio.
Discipline II. – WAR (Worth A Risky Pick?)
It is easier to go through on scoring through an example:
(OOP) Goerges vs Radwanska
Let’s say 8 picked Radwanska and 3 picked Goerges. If Gorges wins the three players who picked her get 8 points (each). If Radwanska wins the players who picked her get 3 points (each).
Discipline III. - Sequence
You should vary the order of the matches in order to have the most possible winners earlier in the sequence. If first row of your pick is a winner (but the second is not) you got 11*11 point. If the first two rows of your pick are winners (but the third is not) you got 12*12 points. If the first three rows of your picks are winners (but the fourth is not) you got 13*13 points. Etc…
Discipline IV. – PRO (Place in Right Order)
You should vary the order of the matches in order to have the most possible winners earlier in the sequence. First row of your pick has a 16 multiplier, second row has 15, third 14 etc. If your pick on the row is a winner with correct set rate your score is 2*the corresponding multiplier, if your pick on the row is a winner but with incorrect set rate then your score is 1* the corresponding multiplier.
Discipline V. – FO (Fitd Online)
It is a kind of FITD online (I hope it is not copyrighted). It is easier to go through on scoring through an example:
(OOP) Goerges vs Radwanska (R1 match in an International) Winner: Radwanska
You get 30 points if you picked Radwanska. The scoring follows WTA ranking points.

Among the ideas,i liked all especially the WAR one:p.Im sure the Makarova pick made by Shaddad might have made an impact on you ;).
Lets start the WAR then in a new format:wavey:
P.S I dont really think FITD or similar to FITD will fit into this, reason being there are people who are still missing the deadline.

Few words for the rookies before we start (on Monday with MD matches):
This is a game where you pick during a whole tournament and cannot be out after having a bad day. Please send every day if you start the tournament. Scoring for the disciplines are tried to be set in a way that you can gain a lot of places even on the last day of the tournament (and unfortunately you can lose the same). I will post OOP every day on the first and on the last page (it probably won’t be me on this tourney) please send SR (set rate) for each match. If you don’t send SR 2-0 is automatically given. Please do not send first names. Late picks are accepted, but matches already started will not count. Example:
Order of Play
Ksenia Pervak vs Maria Kirilenko
Simona Halep vs Marion Bartoli
Venus Williams vs Alexandra Wozniak
Daniela Hantuchova vs Ana Ivanovic
Garbine Muguruza_Blanco vs Flavia Pennetta
Silvia Soler-Espinosa vs Agnieska Radwanska
Victoria Azarenka vs Heather Watson
I expect to get back something like the following:
(As you can see I changed in the response the order of the matches in order to be successful in disciplines 3 and 4)
There are races for the 5 disciplines (most points win) and a race for pentathlon where the rankings of the disciplines are summarized and less score wins. The same applies to team races. Team score is the sum of the best three from the team (no discarding). We have 3 “traditional” teams; newbies will create Team 4 (5). Newbies, if for some reasons you want to have a permanent team then give a name to it and for the following weeks commit as “in for teamname”. All teams need captain who will have a surprise task after Tuesday play. Current captains are:
Hakon for Dynamo Morpork (our most democratic team, despite the name)
Dinesh for Team India. (liverpoolshivank, it is Dinesh’s decision if you can join or not)
Kevin or Cody for Kiriyama’s Swaggery (actually I don’t know)
and we surely have a 4th team for this week.

^^ We have 3 traditional teams, they are full now. The rookies will create Team4 (and maybe 5) If you plan long with this game and want to have a permanent team in the team race, then you better agree with the other rookies or collect a team from "outside".
Answering to your actual question: No, not for this week, but it would be great if you could captain the "Rookies Team". (10 minutes extra work on Wednesday)

Preposted OOP Results Player picks
Alfa vs Bravo Alfa 20 Kilo 21
Charlie vs Delta Charlie 20 Charlie 20
Ekho vs Foxtrot Ekho 20 Hotel 21
Golf vs Hotel Golf 20 Bravo 20
India vs Juliet India 20 Ekho 21
Kilo vs Lima Kilo 20 India 20
Scoring:
TC: Player has 2 correct pickwith SR and 2 correct pick without SR Score 2*3+2*2= 10
WAR: Depends on others picks.
Seq: Player well picked Kilo and Charlie but not Hotel. The first two row in his pick are correct but the third is not. Score 12*12=144
PRO: Score: 16*1 (Kilo21 correctpick incorrect SR)+ 15*2(Charlie20 correct pick + SR) + 14*0 Hotel21 incorrect pick) + 13*0 (bravo20 incorrect pick)+ 12*1 (Ekho 21 orrectpick incorrect SR) + 11*2 (India20 correct pick + SR)= 80 I guess
FO: Score: 40 points for every correct pick (thats WTA ranking point for R1 this tourney), so 4*40=159
( So if you want to be succesfull in Seq. and PRO games you have to put most possible winners in front. Order does not matter in other games)(This practically means that as soon as you see any official OOP, like TT, tipping, suicide, You can start working on the picks here)

I had changed the order of results in my second message, and three out of those four matches were predicted correctly, so why haven't I got any points at SEQ?
valac222
Apr 3rd, 2012, 08:07 AM
let me check. As far as I can see McHale was your toprow pick, who lost. So 0 points. SEQ is cruel, penalize your first mistake.
TC You had 6 correct picks with correct SR (Hlavackova20, Zahlavova20, Hradecka 20, Hercog , Lucic 20, Rodionova 21) 3 points each.
You had 6 correct picks with incorrect SR (Voskoboeva, Medina, Vesnina, Daniilidou, Dushevina, Bondarenko ) 2 points each.
Hlavackova2-0 correct pick
Medina-G 2-0 correct pick
Scheepers 2-0 wrong pick , after your first wrong pick the rest does not matter, you have 12*12 points
You got 40 points for each correct pick on R1 matches ( and you will get 60 on R2). 12 correct picks 480 points.
Pentathlon
Rankings of different events summarized.

Thanks Laszlo for double-checking. So if the top row player loses, a zero is multiplied in the other results too. I should have paid more attention while reading the laws ;)

How I understand, we can for each discipline send a different picks. Right?
The new ruling on the field. If you wish You can have 2 sets of pick (max). 1 for WAR and 1 for the other disciplines.

This is a good decision.
In a match with a big favorite, picking her will give you 0 points. so it would be wiser to pick someone else.
But I don't understand how in Penta the scoring is form low to high ( Counting first place down )

Summed up the numbers (your placement) on the lists of five disciplines. Better place in these disciplines gives you smaller sum. A smaller sum = better place in Penta.

I'll try not to in future, but I do it here because I need to reorder them, so it helps to know who they are playing, so that the most likely winners are at the top. If you catch my drift.

Today is Wednesday, What was surprise for Sam?
valac222
Apr 4th, 2012, 08:27 AM
Well, I actually wanted one more race. Captains should hook every team member to a different discipline (now) and the race-end rankings would be summarized.
(eg Sam -TC, Igor - WAR, lena - SEQ, cheda - PRO, Payam - FO and their Sunday discipline rankings summarized)
But as some has not sent it would not be really fair, so I do not insist.

All appreciated who wants to play, no cut off for tourneys. Right now I would be happy if there were 20 ppl who sends from the beginning till the end.

(BTW I modified the ranking method for Team Penta. Now it is based on three best individual pentathlon ranking of the team)
we are through halfway. Should I change anything in the game or in the disciplines?
(Originally I wanted to have a twist in PRO discipline (or Hungarian speciality if you like) but it would have been even more difficult to explain. And I must admit that FO is only put in the disciplines because I wanted pentathlon).
Anyhow my question is should I stay with this game or should I go back to single TC?

I have to say that I do like changes to the game and it's a lot of fun. I think if next time you went with the idea you had about captains choosing a player for each discipline that would be pretty neat, brings more strategy to the game.
I have reposted the singles race results (after Stosur win over Voskoboeva). I do not want to do it for teams.

I think that we must have the same winners for all disciplines! In my opinion pentathlon is too much you could name it triathlon with the first three disciplines!Or you could use discipline 1,2 and 4!That is my opinion!:)
