Very glad she finally won :D

I didn't look at the livescore after 2-3 third set, going to sleep, but I didn't sleep that well thinking Maria was struggling against LDL (I've nothing against LDL, but she's barely top100...) :(

At least Nadia played a long match too, so they are quite equal on this point. Maria has a chance, but she has to step up her game, especially on her serve (conceded 20 BP ), Petrova is no LDL.

Oh, I've a friend who goes to Indian Wells today, he's gonna see Kiri normally, also Sharapova, Radwanska and Ivanovic + Federer & Tsonga !!! It will be amazing
I hope he could see Kiri beat Nadia and post photos here !

"I wasn't making any mistakes - she was playing very aggressively and running well too, and I was very surprised. But I made sure to stay focused and not get upset, and just start fighting again in the third set."

"....if Sharapova is hoping Kirilenko's exertions have left her low on gas, she is in for a shock. Kirilenko is rapidly carving out a reputation as the WTA's iron woman, having won eight of her nine three set matches in 2012 - three of which came during a run to the final in Pattaya City. There is more to the World No.23's game than just superhuman energy reserves, though; as befitting the owner of 10 doubles titles, Kirilenko is as comfortable at the net as the baseline and possesses the court craft to trouble anyone on her day. The players have met four times, with two wins apiece, the most recent coming at the first round of the 2010 Australian Open when Kirilenko triumphed, naturally, in three sets."

I watched the match until 6-3 2-4, Kiri played really well, that's encouraging ! The game at 2-2 was a big turn in the match I think, with Shasha saving 6 BP (Kiri was a bit too passive on 2 or 3 of them though). I didn't expected Maria K. to break back after that, too bad she finally lost 7-5
After that she was probably exhausted both physically and mentally.

well I think our little Maria played fantastic and on the top 10 level for 2 sets... in the third she was obviously tired both physically and mentally... Maria played some strong and amazing groundstrokes and she showed her current great form... shame she couldnīt approach the net much more often but itīs no wonder because itīs very tough to approach the net against such a aggressive player like Big Masha is... I am very satisfied with the way Makiri played and as I said a few days above I believe now she can be a regular top 20 player right now if she keeps her level of the play.. it is time to make another step in her career....

The hindrance call was correct to me, but I doubt it was intentionally to hinder Sharapova, just to fire herself up. Very much the same as with Serena against Stosur. To call it the worst foul is just pathetic. Did someone watch it till the end? How was the handshake?

So many good signs. Of course some Sharapova fans will always they it was all about Sharapova playing poorly, but this is rubbish. What do they expect? That she doesn't make one single error? Its funny how all the Sharapova fans are calling Kiri a cheater. Who the hell knows what kiri was thinking when she slammed her racket, and Kiri has never done anything to cheat before. They are completely classless. Personally in this match I thought Sharapova was the classless one. She would scream common! as loud as she could whenever she won a point, even when Kiri would hit an error. As a tennis player myself, that is the most classless thing.

I've seen much worse. Sharapova was louder than normal on her return and it might have bothered Kirilenko, who is as competitive as anyone. Cheating ? Having your dad tell you to eat a banana as well as making coaching jestures from the stands is just as worse.

The last time I saw someone banging their stick was at a hockey game.

Right! They do it indeed in hockey, maybe she watched it too much :D. This went totally out of proportion, Sharapova got the point (correct call), end of story. Kiri didn't even complain that much, look at what Serena did in comparison.

Turning point to me was the game at 2:2 second set, where she wasted all those break points. Really wasted, she didn't play those points well enough, it wasn't like the other Maria fired one ace after another.

Hopefully she continues to play that well, than the top 20 ranking will come, maybe even more.

Kirilenko has taken her game to another level. Hopefully, her ankle is good to go. Kirilenko seems to go thru a stage like that 2-2 second set in all her matches. Obviously it's mental.

I wish Maria was doing better in doubles this year.
