View Full Version : Dubai R1: Mr. Jankovic def. Cetkovska 6-2 6-2

Feb 20th, 2012, 06:59 PM
A win is a win I guess. Jaja didn't need to do much. Cetkovska was pretty bad tonight - hitting DFs left and right and hitting SO MANY errors

Mo called JJ Mr. Jankovic when she challenged a call

good luck against Pennetta
Improve your first serve percentage :o
JJ's voice is kinda hoarse and she is not happy with the empty stadium

10 Doubles from Petra. She was absolutely terrible. How did she beat Ana in straights two weeks ago?

JJ was DIRE. pick it up, 45% first serves was it?

Takeback on her FH looks different too.

 fail of a match from Cetkovska...

Another televised match, another horrible performance by Petra:help:
It was really painful and disgusting to watch this match.

Where is Petra's finesse I've seen last year?

I am glad jelena won she should beat flavia now, I hope :scared: good win hopefully gets some confidence leg was strapped as well.

thats just unacceptable:tape:

Feb 20th, 2012, 07:11 PM
Abysmal match from Cetkovska. The fact that the same player has beaten my other fave twice is just :tape:

Solid enough from Emperor JaJa. Make it a good run here :yeah:

Feb 20th, 2012, 07:14 PM
Pretty lacklustre match but JJ was easily the better player and the backhand was working well.

Layani calling Jelena "Mr Jankovic" was without doubt the highlight of the match

Feb 20th, 2012, 07:14 PM
Bravo Jelo please continue with victories :boxing:

Feb 20th, 2012, 07:17 PM
JJ :yeah:

Petra was so bad :tape:

Feb 20th, 2012, 07:34 PM
How is it possible for your W-UE ratio to be 9-35?

That said, even though Cetkovska is so bad, I think it's an indication of how little faith I have in Jelena these days that I still predicted she was going to lose this match

Cetkovska did nothing out there, and she had no confidence. She seems overranked now but then I've seen her play so much better.

Feb 20th, 2012, 07:45 PM
I expected Janković to win but Petra was today really awful. My predictions for results in main draw were very good just Svetlana screw up her match and my prediction. >.<

I am surprised Empress is playing here with the injury she picked up in Fed Cup. And also surprised she took this so easily in straight sets! :yeah:

Feb 20th, 2012, 08:12 PM
Jelena played well, while Petra, not so well. Considering that Jelena's first serve was absent, the second serve ace to win the match was hilarious.

Jelena was so calm. I guess because Petra was just handing over points with ease.

Feb 20th, 2012, 08:19 PM
keep going Jeca.

Feb 20th, 2012, 08:24 PM
Wow Jelena actually won a match?

Feb 20th, 2012, 09:00 PM
Her forehand looks different?!?!?!?

Feb 20th, 2012, 09:22 PM
Apart from the dreadful first serve stats, I don't think JJ played that badly. It wasn't an amazing performance, and it wasn't against a particularly impressive opponent, but she played pretty well.

What happened to the New Haven Petra that defeated Radwanska, Bartoli and Li Na in three consecutive matches?

What happened to the New Haven Petra that defeated Radwanska, Bartoli and Li Na in three consecutive matches?

Petra injured herself right at the end of the off-season, hence why she didn't play any warm-up tournaments before AO. It's still been a decent start to the year but I guess she isn't in her very best shape there as it's the third loss in a row where she's completely drowned herself in errors.

Feb 21st, 2012, 12:02 AM
She's back

Feb 21st, 2012, 01:05 AM
The umpire clearly had fun as did JJ, nothing special here. She was lucky Petra couldn't wait to go to bed. Can't see Jelena doing anything against Pennetta on any surface but clay these days

But I do like the way Empress prepares now to receive, even standing in more like all female players should. She hops a little, as if eager to attack for a change. Maybe she wants to get further to go to better shops in Dubai?

Certainly not for Ana fans

Certainly not for Ana fans

I believe you know all about that because you said you were her fan yourself and that it was the main reason for you to visit her forum after her loss last week. At least it's confirmed now that you were saying the true after this lovely comment.

Decent match from Jeca. She didn't play very good, but she didn't have to. It's gonna be much more difficult against Flavia. :scared:

That's woman's tennis: An out-of-form Jankovic can beat a Top 30 player 6-2 6-2 without showing any of her brilliance...

Player´s party is tonight. That explains the win. :hysteric:
