I.e. basically Bogotá is now weaker than any Euro 25K.

Well, Panova will be Top 100 next week. :)

LAV is a talented 19-year-old who has nearly a dozen 10K titles won in the last two years, and has gone deep into 25Ks. She also has many doubles titles of different levels. I believe she beat Paula Ormaechea, another 19-year-old to keep on the radar.

Not really surprised at LAV, as Bogota feels like a 75K competition.

Alex is a former Top 25 junior, and had her best year last year with 2 50K titles. This would be a great victory for her.

I remember her from nouf's 2006 RG juniors photos - played doubles with Cirstea IIRC. I also saw her lose a 3 hour+ epic to Daniilidou at the Estoril Q last year.

Sasha :hearts: I was impressed with her play against Bartoli as a Q at the USO last year, and then I talked to her (I think she was with her sister? I don't know if she has one but they looked alike ) on the line for Ben and Jerry's two days later. She's so sweet.

I actually thought her game would be a bit too volatile for the altitude in Bogota but I really hope Panova wins the final. She really impressed me at the US Open and she's been having good results since then.

A LAV-Pan final! Enough to give anyone a hot flush!

Really I have no clue, since the quarter-finals, it's been like picking a card.

Well done to both - Panova is already well esconced in the top 100 thanks to this result and due to a paucity of points in the first half of 2011, looks to debut the main draws of both Roland Garros and Wimbledon with ease, win or lose.

LAV - good start to the clay season where she first came to notice last year at Marbella, reaching qf beating Niculescu (let's draw a veil over her loss to Julia Cohen at Biella in September, Cohen's only win over a top 200 player that year that was not due to a default). She has more points to defend before RG so needs them now. She will be around 105 if she wins, 122 if she loses, according to Boiled Egg's calculations.

some people don't follow ITFs and only care for top players and Slams and only read GM it seems .. but where do all those girls at the top come from do you thik? ok some are huge talents who are great in juniors or crack the top 100 within a couple of tournaments , good for them, but most girls have to work all their way up from the bottom of the ladder and take it step by step ..doesn't mean that because ppl never "heard of them :o " that they don't deserve their success at WTA level ..you have to start having results somewhere, at some point, right? :ras:
Vamos Lara ! :rocker:

Who will win? Who knows. Whoever chokes less, unless one of them (more likely Panova) manages to outplay the other by a considerable margin.

As for who I wish would win, undoubtedly Arrarreturrobarrajorranaroja. The EuskoDomination of tennis starts here.

Gora Arretarrubojarrenarotazarrabeldia!

This thread provided TF's pro scrub lobby with an opportunity to talk shit as expected. They make it sound as if following only top players is something morally reprehensible, and heaven forbid that someone cares only about the Slams or a couple other big events.

I mean, I've seen 10K finals on TV. The tennis is bloody awful. Not everyone has the time or the inclination to become an expert on 10K qualies. Deal with it.

I never complained about people only following Slams , I complained about those of them who talk shit about unknown players just because they are 'unknown' and say how shit those International events are when no top players is involved in them . A bit of respect is not asking for too much IMO .
Deal with it yourself.

Lara has won the last 10 singles finals she has played. Yes, all of them were $10Ks but I think it says something about controlling her nerves. She has actually won 11 out of 12 singles finals played on the ITF. Pretty impressive for a 19 year old I believe, especially when she last played a $10K in March 2011.
