Abba :p

Madonnna is the only woman on the list(Solo) and she is among the most controversial artist up on that list so I have to give her major props for selling as much as she did. She does everything by her own set of rules, was probably the first woman/artist to write, speak about AIDS among many other cultural taboos like racism, sexual orientation, abortion, etc. The fact that during a 30+ year career we have never once seen her have any breakdown, drug problem, etc. I have nothing but respect for that woman. She is amazing!

Either Led Zep or Madonna, I suppose.

Feb 15th, 2012, 11:27 AM
probably MJ. Madonna is up too. The Beatles songs are really hit or miss for me.

Feb 15th, 2012, 11:45 AM
Queen. :worship:

Feb 15th, 2012, 11:53 AM
The Madonna.

I voted for Elton because I guess I like his music the most out of these artists :oh:. I like his piano playing and his voice is very soothing.

But I also like MJ, Madonna (well, up until 2006 or so), Queen and ABBA.

Madonna - although I'm referring to her earlier stuff.

I was listening to the Mamma Mia soundtrack on the way to work today, if that tells you anything.

Three different versions of this became a hit  (although the Princess Diana rewrite was the most successful and of course worst of the three :()

1973: WkmrMtILPqo
1987: NoOhnrjdYOc
1997: V0PKcKbjlKg

"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" also became a hit twice. Once as a solo and second as a duet with George Michael .

1974: FI5xme5k5AQ
1991: ggP08uNJUG4

Got to be Abba

Their albums were full of songs that would have made worthy singles

and of all the people mentioned here, English wasn't their first language

Feb 16th, 2012, 11:33 AM

Apparently they were not cool in their day, but they are now more remembered than even the Beatles I would say. And they have never reformed. Their albums are outstanding and I just love The Visitors and Like An Angel Passing Through My Room. Agnetha had that incredible piercing voice, but Frida's is like honey on velvet. They were also fantastic live - I bought the Live album - and sound even better on many songs.

I also forgot to mention "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word", solo hit for Elton in 1976 and then the version with Blue in 2002 (though he can't claim that one as he's technically 'featured artist' only).

Just shows the timelessness of Queen Elton's songs .

Queen or Abba, but I can't decide between them ;)

Feb 16th, 2012, 01:43 PM
Abba, then Madonna.

Feb 16th, 2012, 11:01 PM

Feb 17th, 2012, 02:23 AM
ABBA. The Beatles I just dont get and I wish Paul would sit his saggy jaw/cheek self down somewhere

The Beatles easily. I'm sort of surprised by the ABBA love fest. Could they be even more popular than Madonna with the gays?

Just one? Of this list my faves are: The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Led Zeppelin.

Feb 19th, 2012, 07:02 PM
I have to put in a good word for Elvis who was truly one of the greats...... In fact, he and the Beatles are the only two artists here that have sold over 1 billion units

Feb 20th, 2012, 06:00 AM
Elton John, went to his concert in Dunedin, NZ last year! loved it!
