my fav steffi moment off the top of my head is when steffi beats gaby ub wimbledon 1990(?) and she hits that signature forehand crosscourt return winner on matchpoint for the win. Steffi then arches her back and screams YES!! it was just classic. As a matter of fact I think I have a pic of this!!! HOLd on a few secs!@!!! :)

Because I could not stop for Death--
He kindly stopped for me--
The Carriage held but just Ourselves--
And Immortality.

We slowly drove--He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility--

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess--in the Ring--
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain--
We passed the Setting Sun--

Or rather--He passed us--
The Dews drew quivering and chill--
For only Gossamer, my Gown--
My Tippet--only Tulle--

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground--
The Roof was scarcely visible--
The Cornice--in the Ground--

Since then--'tis Centuries--and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity--

Certains gens disent que les Francais pensent qu'ils sont les meilleurs et d'autre disent qu'ils sont tellement gentil a tout les francophones...en tout cas j'aprecie vos messages en francais ... c'est du bonne pratique pour moi..hehe

At least we still see Steffi around tournaments a bit because she goes to support Andre. What will ASV do now? Will she still be involved in tennis? Will she become a tournament director or something?

Graf, Date and Sabatini. I think Graf retired at exactly the right time - she came back got out her hickery stick and thought those young upstarts a lesson. Kimiko on the other hand really could have won a Slam she was just going places and then at the grand old age of 25 she said goodbye - straight into the old folks home for her!

What will ASV do now? Will she still be involved in tennis? Will she become a tournament director or something?

Doesn't Arantxa own a tennis academy in Barcelona with her brothers? I thought when the press reported about her press conference they said she was at her family's academy in Barcelona. I may be wrong though because I didn't read the entire story because I was in a rush.

Anyway, I miss Steffi but it's okay because I know she's happy. I also miss Mary Jo and it makes me unhappy because I know she really hates not having won a Slam. I also miss Martina Nav. and Chrissy in their heyday because they played some really good matches against each other. :) But, other than those, I don't miss anybody and I know I won't miss any other of the women players when they retire because I don't tape any matches these days for my collection because watching once is plenty. No need to take up any room on the bookshelf.;)

Natasha Zvereva. As infuriating as she was to watch sometimes because of her fits and starts, she was a talented and graceful player who knew how to move the ball around the court. It's a shame she wasn't able to reach that 1998 Wimbledon final. So, very, very close. Jana would have definitely had a big struggle that day against Natasha.
