Nice one Christina! Just got her album too and it's amazing!

Pissy about Shakira though, and the Michelle Branch and Santana song should be wayyyyy higher than that!

I have a question. Will Kelly Clarkson be releasing her sinlge in the UK? I would think they would since the winners of the show over there have done quite well on the charts! Of course, maybe they have intentions of airing the show later in the UK and then would release the single once Kelly has a fanbase from the show. I think it might be interesting to release her single first though so they can see how she does without the fanbase already in place from the show.

btw, is DJ Sammy Belgian? I heard someone say it on the radio! I thought he was German! :o And is it true he used to be called "DJ Porno"?

Nov 14th, 2002, 03:02 PM
I'm still having trouble believing that Shakira's "Objection (Tango)" is a NEW entry on the British charts! That's been out here for ages! You don't mean to say Australia got some song before England did? ;) :bounce:

SHAKIRA IS RELATIVELY NEW HERE.
I've some of her older albums but she only got success after "whenever, wherever"

DutchieGirl
Nov 14th, 2002, 03:26 PM
well yeah, she only became known in AUstralia with "Whenever. Wherever" too, but Objection (Tango) has been on our charts for ages... so I meant we actually got a single release before Britain did! :bounce:! ;) Usually we are really far behind!

Not as good as the others.

9 Sugababes - Stronger / Angels With Dirty Faces
Haven't heard, that's good.

15 Santana featuring Michelle Branch - The Game Of Love
Carlos Santana needs to get a life, and stop with this commercial crap.

Yes, Shakira´s single is an "old ;)" song here in Spain too.
Here she released 4 singles:

- Whenever, wherever - Suerte( spanish version)
- Underneath your clothes
- Te dejo Madrid
- Objection - Te aviso, te anuncio (spanish version)

My chart analysis

1 Christina Aguilera featuring Redman - Dirrty : I shouldn't like this song but... yeah gotta admit I do like it. Love Christina's voice
2 DJ Sammy - Heaven : It's lasted as long as I thought it would...
3 Nelly and Kelly - Dilemma : Decent song, again not my kind of thing but it's all good.
4 Westlife - Unbreakable : Dire as per usual
5 Blazin' Squad - Love On The Line : Probably the worst song I have EVER heard. Seriously. It is absolutely awful, it beggars belief how a group of schoolkids got this released... it combines absolute wretched juvenile lyrics with sheer... I won't bother to say anymore except "AWFUL"
6 Kylie Minogue - Come Into My World - It's Kylie, bound to be popular
7 Las Ketchup - Asereje : not heard it
8 Shania Twain - I'm Gonna Getcha Good -not heard it
9 Sugababes - Stronger / Angels With Dirty Faces - Should be number one because of Heidi... :)
10 Coldplay - The Scientist : Brilliant song from a superb band.

Just dont buy the Blazin Squad song, please.

If my songwriting technique was any good, (which it is ok), I'd consider a career in music, all I have is a good voice mind :(

Sarah - as far as i know, there are 2 versions of "the ketchup song". and 2 music videos too. Asereje - is pure spanish while the ketchup song has english words in it. :)

Since when did Bryan Adams have a child? He was married in 1992. The earliest he could've had a child was then. That would make the child only 10-years-old. He did not have any children before that.

Besides, DJ Sammy makes almost next to nothing with those covers. Bryan Adams and Don Henley, meanwhile, are making quite a bit thanks to DJ Sammy from using the lyrics to their songs. DJ Sammy is probably making less from the sales of those particular singles than it cost to make the videos and promote the songs. From what I've seen, he probably hasn't had to promote it since the clubs pick up the songs quite quickly. So I'd guess DJ Sammy is breaking even at best.

And I don't think the songs are bad at all. Do's voice is haunting yet sugary, a rare mix, but not uncommon in dance music.
