would i be write in thinking that if patty plays the gold coast and wins that she could climb past maleeva and even chanda? Same with stevenson for getting a top 16 seed bc she is entered.

Farina Elia has a 150 point lead on Stevenson, lightly more on Dementieva. Silvia would have to not play that weekend AND Alex or Elena would have to win Gold Coast. Last year, Venus and Justine both played Gold Coast. I'd love to see Alex as seed #16, but realistically, it ain't happenin'. It's about as likely as Kim Clijsters beating Serena in the finals of the Tour Cham .....

never mind.

Oh, they are back to 16 seeds now, when did they announce that?

wait..........9-12 face 5-8 seeds in 4R,
so they should be separated from 13-16
who will face top 4 seeds by 4R

Hingis, Ana, and Lindsay being 9-11 i have no problem with that,
but the #12 will be the weak upper seeds against any of 5-8,

but the rest of 13-16 probably will go out by 4R,
they dont have pts to defend anyway, so still a good showing,
but Elena is actually quite lucky coz she probably wont face
Williams till QF, same as Alex S

looking down the list..........
it is critical to make 24th seed cut
to avoid TOP 8 in 3th round (1-8 vs 25-32, 9-16 vs 17-24)
so hopefully Bovina will make that cut by then now #26

for the last few seeds, Anna K and Cochita Martinez may
make the list but might go out by 3R if they do.....

ajayares - I'll let you worry about seeds #17-#32. Nobody seeded that low has a shot in hell.

Oh yeah, then we might as well just make the event a field of 8 or 16 at best?? what is the point in making the field size anybigger
It doesn't matter who has a chance or not, if you are going to do something, atleast do it properly (No half measures)

But I suppose spending the last 3 hrs working out the top 16 seeds, it is going to take you atleast that or probably more to work out the rest.

well, i beg to differ lo.........
Bovina pulled an upset in US Open.....if
she is seeded inside 24, maybe she will go far
and pulls some upsets..............

then we have Dementieva and Alex who might not make
# 16 seeds cut, they are force not to be reckoned with,
if martinez makes the cut for the lowest seeds and even Anna K,
they may make some noise in the tournaments..............
and there are a lot of people under around 50's 60's who
can upset.....like Safina etc....so dont count them out

fhkung - Do you seriously believ any of those players are winning OZ? If they make the courts superfast next year, Stevenson COULD serve her way to the title, but that's VERY unlikely.

Lindsay still has a good chance to reach SF and even F but I hope she will win :):)

niratti - That's a very liberal definition of a 'good chance'.
