For some reason I thought Maria Sharapova was competing in Eugene this week but I did not see her in the draw. Does this mean her year is over?

she was in qualie draw and had to withdraw because she made semis of pittsburgh...

most likely her season is over...

Im sure Mark Newman or Eggy etc can tell us for sure, but Im quite certain she's done for the year as she has now achieved her goal of making the cut for next years Australian Open qualifying draw! :)

She is indeed done for the year. Her goal for this year was to get into Aussie qualies and reach Top 200 if possible. She has done both (# 186 this week!), so will use the rest of her allocated events under the Age Rules next year.

She is currently scheduled for an exhibition in Asia, the Australian Open qualifying and will probably return to Indian Wells I guess since she played there last year and she has a wildcard into Miami because she won the exhibition there last year.
