4th challenger title of 2011 for Putintseva (two 25K's and two 50K's). No matter how you slice it, that's damn impressive for a 16-year-old. I think she's ready to make some serious noise this year.

She's more a 17 years old than a 16 years old.
She won 3 of her 4 titles in Russia, the other one was in Turkey. Many 25k tournaments in Europe can be as competitive as her 50K titles. Indeed, she played a lot of juniors.

However she did well and everyone has the choice to play where she wants. Now It could be really interesting to see her playing tougher tournaments.

A number of people upthread are already doing their best to slice it, and Tumaini isn't even here yet.

Here is a video of Yulia at the Orange Bowl a few weeks ago. She lost the final to Kontaveit 6-2 6-2.

Yulia indeed raised a level and had some promising results unlike that scrub Gavrilova. However, she is just too short and will never be a 'real' competitor for solid #100 players I think.

Poor girldevil :awww:

yes she seems very short indeed. She wont succeed on clay being overpowered.

They were definitely weaker tournaments for challengers, but it's still very impressive for a girl her age to be consistently winning them. You're right though in that the real test will come when she steps up over the next couple of years.

Didnt she say of Her Bebanged Holiness St. Elena Viatcheslalovna Dementieva (can't believe I learnt her second name :tape:) that she was happy that 'that bitch' finally retired? Jokes appart Dementieva was one of the nicest on tour.

Pretty sure that was Sofiya Kovalets. But she did say something about it being good Elena retired.

The only reason I want Putintseva to make it into the top 100 is to see her being hated and getting booed of the court all the time :hearts: Bitch does not talk shit about Goddess Lena and get away with it.

LightsOut!
