Just saw the picture of the wooden courts in Moldavia. Looks strange, wanna see the match on it.
Simply coloured wood (G2 junior ITF is played there)

Are there any more tournaments using this kind of surface? Or is Moldavia the only country that cannot afford proper hard/carpet courts? :awww:

Nice bump for my thread in BFTP created 8 years ago. :p

I'm not sure but that is interesting to see if there were others. I think a lot of indoor courts in the early 20th century used to be on wood?

Looks like the wood has been treated (judging from the pictures, but may be just the glare on the camera), I'm imagining that wouldn't provide alot of grip would it?

i played on woods. It's fast like hell. Everything is 10 times faster than on grass.

In the past the SKT Sopot Hall was "wooden", right?

I think Martina Navratilova mentions having played a tournament on wood in her autobiography. And she, too, commented on how fast the surface was.

Estonian Davis Cup team played most of the home ties on wood, until around 2002, when ITF banned it.
