A part from Maria Kirilenko, Zheng Jie, Ayumi Morita, Rebecca Marino and Elena Baltacha switching to the new Yonex racket, the Ezone Xi, (All of them were already playing with a different Yonex racket) Are there any other players who are going to play with a different racket than last season? :)

I'll keep a list here which I'll update if any of you guys know some more.

- Maria Kirilenko (From Yonex RDiS 300 to Yonex Ezone Xi.)
- Elena Baltacha (From Yonex Ezone to Yonex Ezone Xi.)
- Zheng Jie (From Yonex Ezone RDiS 300 Midplus to Yonex Ezone Xi 98)
- Rebecca Marino (From Yonex Ezone to Yonex Ezone Xi.)
- Ayumi Morita (From Yonex Ezone to Yonex Ezone Xi.)
- Ana Ivanovic (From Yonex Ezone to the Yonex Ezone Xi.)
- Petra Kvitova (From Wilson Tour BLX to Wilson BLX Steam.)

Ana Ivanovic is also switching to the Yonex Xi model.

Unless it's a product placement plug (whether or not she's going to actually change), Yazoo. C is right. Petra said in a recent interview, that's she's been practicing getting a feel of her new Wilson racket.

Wow, Yonex. Shouldn't there be other rackets you can promote? Has the Caroline Wozniacki marketing prospect fallen through?

I'm guessing Wilson Steam is brand new right?

I wonder how a racket change affects Kvitova's game

Most players have very similar rackets even when they switch. Just the paint job is different, and maybe some customized specs.

I wonder how a racket change affects Kvitova's game

I was wondering the same thing.

I guess we'll find out soon, if any?

Like I said earlier, Petra did say she's been practicing, "getting a feel" of her new racket (for what's that worth).

So the raquet manipulations helped her to win Wimbleon this year. Never in doubt.
Now she's planning to cheat in Melbourne. Wow.

Excuse me? :weirdo:

Her stroke is so pure it isn't going to matter what frame she's playing with anyway.

 Patty's strokes are pure and beautiful. Kvitova's are ugly and apparently unclean. Changing raquects now to win some more slams. Funny. Funny joke this sport of tennis has become of.

many players will change on Yonex Ezone Xi,is this racket better than previous??

Dec 21st, 2011, 01:22 AM
C'mon, probably they will just change the paintjob of the frame. Probably none of them will really change the racket, just just change the outside of whatever they already use for years so wilson, yonex, babolat, head and others can sell more frames.

cowsonice
Dec 21st, 2011, 01:27 AM
Eh, that's easier to tell with Yonexes because all their frames have the same shape. TennisWarehouse forum has really good posters who could tell the difference.

They knew that Tomas Berdych was using a paint job version of the same racket that Maria was endorsing.

Maria doesn't use that instinct frame at all! Really, if you see the pictures of her racket and the "real" one it's very different.
BTW, most of head players use something completely different from their "official" frame.

Which aspects of the frame should I look at?

See, then I don't understand why Maria switched from Prince to Head if her racket isn't ...real? (on the market/new frame)

It's not like her racket isn't real. It is, but it is for her.
She changed from prince because the frame wasn't doing good to her shoulder. I even read that her shoulder pain was coming back and stuff, but IDK if it's true.
So she moved on and head said "hey, we gonna do a special frame for you, with whatever you need to not hurt your arm so you can play well again". And so they did.
But what we mortal and weekend players buy is completely different from what they have. Our body isn't prepared for the frames that they use. But a lot of people just buy a racket because it's Nadal's one or Serena's one.

About Sharapova frame. The shape of the head. Compare the one she uses to the one they sell at tennis warehouse. Her frame seems more closer to the redical shape.

Lord, not all players have continuous paint jobs. Ana actually used the racket she endorsed at one point.

And it's also obvious that Maria is not using a Prince. There's no reason to believe she would be using another brand other than Head, as I'm sure every racket company would have shelled out the 2m a year for her.

It's pretty safe to say that she has switched. ;) Azarenka has played with a HEAD racquet since forever, and now she shows up playing with a Wilson that isn't blacked out (like Jankovic's) or anything. That's a pretty big change if you ask me. So we should be hearing something from both companies soon, I'm dying to see what this Wilson racquet will do to her game.

Blacking out/painting a racquet black and using non-corporated strings is one thing, I don't think they keep themselves busy blacking out the butt of the racquet though. Besides, if she was sponsored by Wilson, why wasn't the W on her strings at that time and why is she now playing with a non-blacked out Wilson racquet that doesn't have the W on the strings? If she were sponsored, the W would be on the strings and the frame would not be blacked out I think.

Ok, I think I have mentioned this before, but you do realize that the players don't actually use the racquets they advertise? Most of them have custom made racquets with requested balanced points, weight diatributions, etc, and they usually use the Pro Staff model which are not sold in retail. They only get the paint job of their racquet sponsor. I seriously doubt Julia or Jarmila actually changed racquets, more like changing the paint jobs. If you compare the so-claimed model the players use and the actual one, you can see a lot of differences in the fundamental make-up of the frame. It really is one big advertising scam.

Kvitova using the Blx stram is basically the same as her previous game. I saw er at hopman cup an she doesn't hit the ball Amy harder. I don't thinn is just a paint job though, cause the racquet is more ractangualr. She does kick her serve better. Wozniacki is more of the same. Thought he might stop puddling but I was wrong. Wilson Sporting Goods has signed a long term partnership with #3 Victoria (Vika) Azarenka.

“I’m extremely excited to be changing to Wilson’s new Juice racket. The power and spin that I feel with this racket is insane and I look forward to seeing what I can do with it,” said Azarenka. In addition to the Wilson Juice tennis racket, Azarenka will accessorize with the matching new blue Tour tennis bag and exclusive EmotiSorb shock absorber every time she steps on the court.

“Vika’s talent is undeniable and she has been one of the tours most consistent performers. Our goal is to provide the best equipment to help elevate her game and help her reach her goal of winning her first Grand Slam,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director for Wilson. “She’s is a powerful player, with a dynamic personality and we are very thrilled to have her join the Wilson family.”

In 2011, Azarenka finished at a career high of number three to become the highest-ranked Belarusian player in history, after reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon and the finals at WTA Tour Championships in November. Azarenka has also begun to distinguish herself off the court as a tennis teen idol with her good looks, fashionista ways and engaging Twitter posts.

Leading up to the 2012 Australian Open, last week, Azarenka upset world number one Caroline Wozniacki, at the World Tennis Charity Invitation in Hua Hin, Thailand, by beating her 6-2, 7-5 and is off to a great start at the Apia International Sydney, defeating Stefanie Voegele 6-2 6-1 in the 1st round. She will now take on Jankovic.

Ah that's interesting. I think she used to use Liquidmetal Instinct, but I can't see the ridges that I expected to see. Do all Wilsons have the PWS?

 maybe its a PJ of an older/discontinued Wilson/Head frame, your guess is as good as mine  ..As for the PWS, no, not all Wilson models have them, eg. the KBlade/BlxBlade line

Good find. I did notice a different sound at contact point when she was playing though (yes you can sometimes hear it during the grunt), so I don't think this is still a HEAD racquet.

Another pic of JJ with Wilson buttcap. If she isn't sponsored, I don't know why she'd be using a blacked out frame...idk.:confused:

“I’m extremely excited to be changing to Wilson’s new Juice racket. The power and spin that I feel with this racket is insane and I look forward to seeing what I can do with it,” said Azarenka. In addition to the Wilson Juice tennis racket, Azarenka will accessorize with the matching new blue Tour tennis bag and exclusive Wilson Emotisorb shock absorber every time she steps on to the court.

 did you even read the stuff/comparison pics that were posted before? Btw, Vika isn't the first player to use non-sponsored frames painted to look like the acual model..Fed does it, Tsongs, Djokovic, Amelie did it, Justine too, and a host of other players :o its not that big of a deal..sometime players even use frames from the 90's, and just adopt the PJ relevant to the current model they're paid to endorse..and I never said she was LYING. its simple marketing..

I get that the above is your opinion. According to articles I've read by top racket stringers, you're incorrect about Federer and Djokovic. Beyond that the
idea that a racket company would sponsor a player to use frames made by another company seems inane at best. Oh, and whatever euphemisms you want to try and use - stating something that one knows isn't so is lying.

Anyway, whatever racket you think Azarenka has switched to, it's working well for her.

Armed with her Wilson Juice 100 tennis racket, Victoria ‘Vika’ Azarenka dominates the Sharapova 6-3 6-0 to win her 1st Grand Slam Singles title, take the #1 ranking on the WTA Tour and is an undefeated 12-0 since switching to the Wilson Juice.

Vika’s gear:
Juice 100
Tour 15 pack tennis bag blue
Luxilon Alu Power 125
W vibration dampener yellow

It's not my opinion, and I'm not incorrect :o
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=1872892&type=story, that article just scratches the surface of the whole PJ issue
As for Djokovic, during his days with Wilson, he actually used another frame(by Head, the Prestige), which was painted to look like the Blade Tour.( Tsonga did it as well, but he used an old Wilson Hyper Carbon ProStaff frame). It does not take an expert to see that Vika's racquet is CLEARLY NOT, the same frame being advertised, which is why I posted comparison pics with Kanepi(who actually uses the right frame, complete with PWS) its a PaintJob! Look at the bloody pics..if you don't believe me, go to tenniswarehouse etc, get a pic of the model she's being paid to advertise, the get a pic of her from Sydney, and compare them
You don't honestly expect most pros to switch racquets everytime their sponsor rolls out a new line., hence the Paint Jobs .and in the event that a Pro becomes sponsored by another company, tell me which would make more sense, using their frames with differences in specs compared to their previous sponsor's frame, and potentially wrecking their whole game, or just using their previous sponsors frame, painted to look like the model of their current sponsor...its not rocket science.

Yes, it is your opinion. And of course you think you're correct. I haven't seen many people who hold to opinions they think are incorrect.

And as for your points about Djokovic, you're distorting things. That happened because Djokovic after much time with Wilson was wanting to switch to Head. That's a helluva different situation to just starting with Wilson and yet using another racket maker's frame. That's not marketing that would be nuts for any company to do.

Back to the point - Azarenka's racket. My opinion is that she's using a Wilson Juice. You disagree and let's leave it at that.

They do it because looks are all that matters. If most of the public thinks that Azarenka is using the Juice, they'll buy the juice just because she's using it.

There is no way Vika is using the "real" juice.
the pattern of juice is 16x18 while whatever she uses (probably is the old head LM instinct) is 18x19. And this just one of the many differences between her frame and the juice one.

a - as a matter of course they don't do it.
b - no looks are not all that matters.
c - yes of course people will use a racket because they see a top pro using it. I mean . . .??

I guess that means I have to state that I'm not claiming Azarenka's racket is exactly the same as an off-the-shelf Juice 100. But that doesn't make it any less a Juice.

With apologies to all the nay-sayers  after carefully examining a number of very hi-res images and reading the comments of a few stringers, I'm satisfied that Azarenka is indeed using a Juice (and to make it clear to all) - a custom molded Juice.

All I can say (and a lot of other people) is that this frame

http://i44.tinypic.com/aetuew.jpg

looks like this frame

http://i42.tinypic.com/axm990.jpg

that does look like this other frame (head LM instinct).

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w50/vsbabolat/Gasquet_2012_Aus_Open_4.jpg

But of course that Wilson won't say it. In the same way that Babolat doesn't say that Tsonga frame looks like a Wilson frame. In the same way that Head won't say that Djokovic speed doesn't look like a speed frame.

Maybe the results are connected with her still adapting to the new racquet. Yonex's racquet shape is quite particular.
