Hey all tennis fans,

Just off the phone with Mr. Ostarek, organizer of the Czech Extraleague.

Both Caro and Kvitty are on the roster of the TK Agrofert Prostějov team and, according to the latest info, there is a very good chance both of them will play.

It is largely expected that the Prostějov team will make it to the finals (they also have the ATP No. 7 Berdych on the roster). It is even possible that Caro and Kvitty will appear in the semifinals on December 18 and 19 (not sure now).

The final match will be covered live on Tuesday, December 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Central European Time. Live coverage will be available on the Czech sports channel CT4.

However, I am not sure whether the channel is accessible from outside the Czech Republic (you can try it, there's some biathlon event now). Perhaps some computer expert will help?

Maybe there will also be some internet streams. Mr. Ostarek promised to update the Czech extraleague website: http://www.tenisovaextraliga.cz/?id1=1 (there's also the Live Score section)

Still don't know the exact schedule of matches, because team captains can change the lineup even 30 minutes before the match.

Women's roster of TK Agrofert Prostějov:

1. Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark, WTA No. 1)

2. Petra Kvitová (CZ, 2)

3. Lucie Šafářová (CZ, 25)

4. Petra Cetkovská (CZ, 31)

5. Barbora Krejčíková (CZ, 871)

That's all for now.

I would want to find out, whome they are playing against? Is there a schedule of matches somewhere? Obviously, if they play a bunch of nobodies, it takes egde off wanting to watch it.

You are spot on, the sponsor of the club is #1057 richest man in the world according to Forbes.

As for Caro, just an excerpt from last year's article on foxsports:

PROSTEJOV, Czech Republic (AP)
Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki has agreed to play for a local Czech tennis league club if it reaches Saturday's finals.

The star-studded Agrofert Prostejov team from eastern Czech Republic includes sixth-ranked Tomas Berdych, Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan and Petra Kvitova, who beat Wozniacki at Wimbledon.

In 1997, Martina Hingis was No. 1 when she helped Prostejov win the domestic title.

Wozniacki, a 20-year-old Dane who won six WTA titles this year, is getting ready for next season in Prostejov and said Thursday her goal was to stay at No. 1.

It's a good preparation for the Australian season.

Danish league would be equally good preparation for Australian season,no?It's not as if she's gonna face any quality opponents there. It just seems weird for a non Czech to take part in their local league.$$$ seems the only logical explanation.

Don't now much about the Danish tennis league, but it's probably not very good (no offense). Wozniacki is of Polish origin and Poland is the Czech Republic's neighbour so it's not that weird, IMO.

There are other foreign players who will compete for Czech clubs, e.g. Pironkova, Hantuchova, Niculescu etc.

Caro plays too many tournaments, she needs to take it easy during the 1 month break before the season starts again in January.

i swear caro is just intrested in making money. this off season should be about training hard and recovering for 2012. instead she has been to slovakia, belgium, now the Czech Republic and isn't she playing an exho on the 1st of jan, then hopman cup. i mean thats countless flights and countries after the long season she had, i just don't understand.

It's okay, at least her fans can use the "she was tired" excuse when she loses a match :yeah:

Did anyone post on GM that Petra's competing against LI Na and Rory McIlory, for Break Through Athlete Of the Year, for the prestigious Laureus Awards?

I find that quite funny/ironic.

And of Course, Petra is also nominated for Sportswomen Of The Year (two awards).

There are only 6 athletes/nominees for each category, from across the global Sports World.

It's funny cause she had Yonex racquet but with Babolat Stripes. It made it look like Yulia Putintseva's Mizuno Racquet
