I'll start. It looked kind of dull in the beginning of the
year with alot of AWOL players. The middle got kind
of predictable with only Williams winning titles; but
the ending run turned out to be a thriller. There
were alot of surprises, and upsets along not to justify
the WTA as the Williams Tennis Association tag brought
on by lazy journalists, and commentators.

So, Anna didn't do well this year. Who really cares
anymore? We've got enough new faces, and talents
to sustain interest IMHO.

The nice surprises were Patty, Chanda, Iva, and
Maggie winning TIER 1's. It was great to see
Amelie finally playing to the ability that we knew
she was capable. The Belgians were out of
favour in the early season;but ended the season
with the upset of the year- a win over Serena
in the Championships

Really nice to see Asian tennis making some sort
of impact this year. They may not have the
big titles; but players like Cho, and Angie W-
have shown that they can play, and even
entertain.

Speaking of Asian tennis. The short lived
comeback of Kimiko Date didn't go according
to plan; but it sure made alot of us go giddy
with joy.

Jelena vs James Brown? Who is the hardest
working person in the business? :)

I'm looking forward to 2003. Will Lindsay ever
get back to 1998 form? Where's Hingis?
Can Monica do it again for her die hard fans
that were teased with greatness at the WTA
Championships? Is there some sort of
Venus vs Serena family rivalry that we're being kept
out of the loop? Will Jen defy her doomsayers?

And for ESPN/STAR Asia viewers. Will we again in 2003
be tormented with the most idiotic, moronic tennis
commentators ever to walk on the greens at
WIMBLEDON?

Stay tuned.

The one thing I didn't like about 2002 was ALL the injuries.

I hope EVERYONE stays injury free the WHOLE 2003!! :)

& injury free 2004 & 2005 & 2006 etc. etc.....

Happy:

Seeing Amelie, Kim, and Justine do so well was a big, big treat for me. :)
Seeing Chanda Rubin back & playing better than ever was really special. :)
Seeing little Anna Smashnova make it to the Championships was inspiring. :)
Seeing Eleni Daniilidou and Elena Bovina rise from nowhere was exciting. :)
Seeing Richard Williams stay quietly in the background was nice. :)
Seeing Lindsay come back so late in the season and still make Championsips was awesome. :)
Seeing Corina Moriariu back on court was miraculous! :) :):)
Seeing Serena come into her own as a player and as a person was fun. :)
Seeing Jennifer play her heart out in LA, with nary a quarrel, whine, or loud curse, was compelling. :)

Sad:

Seeing Martina Hingis fading away was upsetting. :(
Seeing Sandrine and Arantxa retiring was terrible. :(:(
Seeing Monica once again unable to play a full season was very sad. :(
Seeing Lina K & Nadya Petrova lose all the ground they gained due to injuries was dismaying. :(
Seeing the regal Venus lose to her sister so many times, and then end her season in tears, was sad. :(
