Ya..
it's strange that the entry list has not announanced yet....

This exhitbition has featured a lot of great players in the past!
Such as Steffi Graf,Williams sisters, Martina Hingis,Amanda Coetzer,Jelena Dokic,Elena Demetieva, Lisa Raymond...
Wonderful matchup!
Hope that they will invite the Belgians' girls this year!

yeah the entry hs always been great and there is always at least one player who will go on and win a slam in that year so it is good for Superstitious reason

1999 Serena and Graf
2000 Pierce
2001 Capriati
2002 Capriati

so it is good for the player if they play here ;)

Have heard that Venus decided to change her mind and isnt playing anymore - but that they have secured Seles and Hingis - they will be the 2 big names at the event. Capriati is not playing.

Neither Capriati nor Venus have committed to Gold Coast or Auckland though.

Capriatii has played Hong Kong the last three years and followed it up with shitty Sydney showings and great Aussie Open showings. Hope this decision doesn't rock that boat!!!

The winner of 2001 was Dokic beating Anna(Kournikova beat Jennifer in semis 3-6 7-5 6-0 [11 games in a row:D])

No I don't mean it the player who won, I mean the player(s) who went on to win a slam in that year

Since Serena has taken the place to represent USA at the Hopman Cup, I am sure Monica will like to find somewhere else for some match practices before the OZ Open 2003... HK Ladies Challenge is a good choice since this is an exhibition tournament, there will be much less pressure for Monica and she can play more freely.....

Good Luck, Monica!! :D

GODDAMN IT! MONICA GETS OUT OF HOPMAN CUP FOR ANOTHER FUCKING EXHIBITION!

I thought the reason why Monica isn't playing Hopman Cup was because Serena decided to play this year with J.B., and they went with the higher ranked player for US team. Can anyone confirm this? If it's true, then it makes since for Seles to play in Hong Kong.

You're right geoepee, but Monica could play a tournament that actually rewards her with rankings points -like Gold Coast.

Anyway I still think it's too soon to know who's playing in Hong Kong
