Wow, I just heard the trophy presentation and Kim is so classy and gracious. Although, I wanted Serena to win, Kim played better and she deserves it.

Congrats.

Good luck to Kim, Monica, Venus and Serena next year

I win. I predicted along w/a few others that Kim would be the first one to beat Serena when Serena was playing her last tourney in Europe. I just had a feeling - because Kim gots game.

Surely Serena was tired - and especially in her serving shoulder - but Kim won it fair and square. I feel a little down for Serena - but IMO - she isn't taking it bad. She likes Kim a lot and said so in a recent interview - so it is all good. Kim was so sweet and felt for Serena when they had to play in IW. She was great - and won all kind of kudos from me for how she handled that fiasco.

Now I guess Hewitt will go all out to win his tourney.

"WAY TO GO CHAMP AND THE NUMBER ONE FEMALE TENNIS PLAYING SISTA IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD" "YOU DONE DID GREAT IN 2002 - SERENA" "CONGRATULATIONS" "THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES - AND SEE YOU IN DUBLIN"

"WAY TO GO KIMMIE GIRL" "YOU JUST GO GIRL" "I AM TOTALLY HAPPY THAT OF ALL THE PLAYERS THAT COULD HAVE BEATEN SERENA "MS. PUMA", WILLIAMS FOR THE GRAND SLAM CUP - THAT IT WAS YOU"

I'm very happy for Kim. She played through her rough patches earlier this year and kept working hard to improve. Nice to see that pay off for her in a big way. :D

I loved her speech too, very genuine and down-to-earth. There is A LOT to like about this young woman, both as a player and person.

Wow! Congrats Kim!
You prevailed women's tennis from becoming boring. As much as Serena has earned all the titles in 2002 I'm glad that Kim showed us and the other players that the sisters are beatable. And don't tell me that she beat Venus just because of her injury. The match Venus against Monica showed that Venus is beatable.
I hope that next year will be an interesting year. Maybe Kim can win a GS trophy. Good luck to Kim, Serena Venus and of course, Monica!

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish watching the match live due to being sick during the match...my temp got up to 102.9...but I did record it and watched the rest of it this morning. Well done Kim! Those splits were incredible! Congratualtions to Serena also! You have had an amazing year! :)
