Good question but can she used SE or PR one of the two due too the fact she been injury over six month, if not I think it best she play Q because she get matches under she belt and ranking points

Maybe Anna can have a WC in Hobart, she win this Tournament years ago...

Good news. Anna is entered for Hobart! :D

TBE has the list and says she's in. According to the entry list she's using a Special Ranking of 59 which will be due to her being out of action for the minimum six months. I believe the rules allow a player to enter up to eight tournaments with an SR, one of which may be a Grand Slam.

nice to see her intentions are there to play. it maybe tough for her, it really all depends on her off season training this winter, how hard she pushes it, how much she puts into it.

the one thing i am happy about is she has decided this now, she needs a good month training if she is in any hope to be at WTA level again. had she been undecided on it till near xmas then found she wanted to play again, australia would have been near impossible with 2 weeks training.

sammy01
Dec 20th, 2011, 01:03 AM
anna will be allowed to enter 6 tournaments using her PR of 59. so i would say for her to play hobart and oz then use her PR twice more at small tournaments before the IW/miami swing (Pattaya City and BMW Malaysian Open) then use the last 2 for IW/miami. if her ranking is low then she can play the small wta internationals on clay in MD or qualies depending on her ranking.

Wintermute
Dec 20th, 2011, 09:59 PM
Well whatever she does, she needs to pick up some points for when her SR runs out. It would be ideal if she could somehow win a round at the AO. But at this stage we have no idea what level she'll be playing at. I hope she's training hard and will really give it 100%.

I hope she'll play the mexican tourneys (Monterrey and Acapulco) or Memphis in the USA. All of them are good MM tournaments

sammy01
Jan 13th, 2012, 05:58 AM
bit miffed anna has entered dubai as her next tournament, she is 28 out of the MD with her PR, so it looks like she might play qualies.

wish she had played monterry or memphis instead, memphis is so weak only 3 top 50 players.

she'll do the training, she won't do the training. if she played injured vs dokic, the injury 4 sure is not that serious, in other words, she could be playing by now. i wouldn't be suprise if she writes before IW : i haven't been training 4 weeks".i think that in her head, she still doesn't know what she wants, and it's a shame beacuse she' s such a great athlete

What if she draws a top 10-20 player in the 1st/2nd round? She will lose most likely. She will have much better chances to do something in small events. Let's get real here guys. Thre is no need to waste her PR on these big events. She should use it on the small events.

So, finally a good news.

My opinion is that Anna played in Australia not 100% fit (because of lack of preseason training) to see how she can play against some decent players and she see that is still at a good level, so after the back injury Anna has no hurry to return in a Tournament and has work on fitness in the last weeks, so now she can handle some straight matches.

I guess until we see her string 3 tournaments in a row maybe we can consider that a comeback but with all her withdrawals she's almost as good as retired.

If there's one tournament that she'll play regardless of whether she's fit or not, I think it's going to be Wimbledon. She did play there last year even though she didn't look to be in great shape.

LOL! I had a feeling that she was gonna go for the BIG TOURNEYS! She just loves them! but i think she'll have to play an internacional too because she'll have to play Qualies for the 3 of them, her PR (59) is not enough to direct entry in those 3 tournaments.

ok gonna have a bit of a rant here, why oh why is she playing stuttgart not fes? if she was in fes qualies she wouldn't face anyone in the top 100, playing stuttgart she has drawn cristea #40 in the world.

points wise IF anna qualifies in stuttgart she gets 20 points, she gets 16 points if she qualifies in fes. so it is 4 points differnce. also she has a much better chance of winning a match in fes than stuttgart with its packed field.

i'm hoping she will play some of the MM tournaments after wimbledon.

playing these premier tournaments only pays off if she wins a MD match, and having to go through qualies then win a match in stacked fields is a big ask.

she is beating decent plyers but getting barely any points for it.

She always seems to go for the tough route. She has very high expectations of herself for sure.

True. I think it shows that she believes well enough in her game right now and she believes she is ready to compete in a tougher field. Ranking-wise, as you guys have pointed out, it might have been more prudent and wise to play the MM events but I like that Anna is taking this chance in playing bigger events. The best way to improve is to play against better players and it's not like Anna doesn't know how to do that. She's showing the mentality of someone who had been at the top of her game and knows her best is good enough to get her back to the top of the pack. ;)

Yup.

sammy01
May 8th, 2012, 08:23 PM
because brussels is also the week before a slam they have 2 wild cards held for top 20 players to take a late entry, but if they aren't used then the next into the MD on the alts list (anna) gets in. so that is another way she could make MD if no one pulls out between now and start of tournament.

tbh i don't mind MD in brussels cus the draw isn't amazing and 1 win could get anna 60 points. however she could miss RG qualies if she does decently there. though that is assuming she gets a RG qualies wildcard.

still hoping she enters 75k notts challenger 2nd week of the french open.

sammy01
May 8th, 2012, 09:11 PM
anna isn't on the qualifying list for the french open, not that she would have made it in with her ranking of 369. so it is wildcard for qualies or MD or she wont be playing the french open this year.

anna isn't on the qualifying list for the french open, not that she would have made it in with her ranking of 369. so it is wildcard for qualies or MD or she wont be playing the french open this year.

DAMN! let's hope she'll get a WC for the MD. If she gets it for the qualies, i'd prefer she pull out of Brussels and play the French.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

anna is on the entry list for the 75k in nottingham which is the 2nd week of the french open. she is like 88 out of qualifying right now, but with these itf tournaments that always happens as the withdraw deadline isn't for another 2 weeks. plus anyone still in the french open singles, doubles or mixed on the friday evening is automatically withdrawn too. last year they had to fill up qualies with local nobodies, so i'm certain chak will be in qualies.

now for the amaze news! it is like on my door step, so i will be able to go every day, get you all tonnes of pics of anna and videos ect <3

makes sense she would play it as we know she isn't playing the french open.

Any news if she's going to play USO qualifying? I'm not good with the rankings rule, but does her ranking of 308 (as of the moment) allow her to play in qualifying?
