New rankings to come out tomorrow at noon EST

St. Petersburg, FL - The Sanex WTA Tour Rankings for the week commencing November 11 will not be available until 12:00 noon (EST) Tuesday, November 12.

The finals for the HOME DEPOT CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY PORSCHE are scheduled for Monday November 11 at 6:30 pm in Los Angeles, California.

Therefore, the rankings of November 12 will reflect the results of the HOME DEPOT CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY PORSCHE, Volvo Women’s Open – Pattaya City, Thailand and ITF Events that are held around the world.

Distribution will be in the normal manner.

Two questions:

1) Since there is an extra day to process results, will they be including the $25K in Mexico City as well as any $10K's?

2) Will these be the official year-end rankings?

Year end Ranks are those directly after the Year End Champs

they won't include the $25K and $10K events just finished this weekend.

Not to be fatuous or anything, but why aren't the end-of-year ranks the ones at the end of the year?

Well, I don't think there is a week where there aren't new points coming on and going off, even into December. So, picking a de facto End Of Year is pretty arbitrary. Why not end the WTA Tour rankings after the final and showcase WTA Tour event?

There was last year. Don't ask me what tournaments, but there was. It wouldn't be an arbitrary end-of-year, anyway - why not have the rankings which come out on the last Monday of 2002?

You're not to use common sense when discussing women's tennis.

Rankings are done by WTA and last WTA event is the Tour Champs.
So they take it this way. Its better this way rather than wait for another 6-7 weeks before announcing them.



The ATP also do their end of year ranks after the Masters Cup.

Thats dumb, the other $50 and $25 and $10 should go onto end of year rankings too!
