Alexandra Cadantu lost those points form this weeks rankings, she is safe.
Timea missed the OZ Open a few years ago thoruhg injury, I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't come this year and saves SR for French Open.
Szavay says she loves Melbourne- any update on when she is back? Again she may save SR for French.
With Kleybanova out (I think she isn't better??) currently Tsurekno will be last in.
Bloody mandy m, as i said in an earlier post, she went to a lot of toruble to play in the states to get points so she could get into Oz Open or top 100, gets to the semi's in last event and then wd's from 3 more challengers She obvioulsy thought she had done enough bc she seemed eserious about playing a lot in Nov/Dec (having 3 priorities in some weeks, meaning she had serioulsy considered playing an event)....I know she needs a rest but big mistake pulling out of this weeks event and next week in Dubai/Czche Rep...will cost her a MD position.....
Doi, Amanmuradova, Sema and Tammy T I think are the only guys paying this week/next week in Dubai that have a serious chance of making the MD...Govrotsova cold have but she wd from Toyota....Add Caroline Garcia too, but she will pretty much need to win both events...Parra was scheduled to play $25K in Spain a few weeks back but WD, therefore not giving herself a chance to get into MD (If she won in Spain she would have made it)
Also inerested in QD cut off...last year heaps wd, wonder what it will be like this year?? At this stage Vicky Larriere (around 200) would be a logical cut off (given WC's, retired & injured players) but i'd say heaps wont come again this year...which is ssad but fair enough, with cut offs high for the lead up events, you wouldn't maybe bother coming. This is why they need a $25 K challenger in Australia in the first week. Move one of the tassie $25K's or Sydney from feb I say...
So are there any other players that have had surgery or are injured that may not make it?
I can only think of martinez who had knee surgery...I hope she is OK, I realy wnat her to come over and get drawn to meet and then beat Wozniaki 1st round! :)

Factoring in Dubai results and the fact Chakvetadze will likely use her PR of 59 to get in (she is already entered hobart with it as someone mentioned) it looks as though Rodionova will miss the cut by 1 spot (as long as Govortsova/Agkul dont keep going in Dubai and overtake her)... hopefully she can get in!!

Kleybanova won't play, Chakvetadze will use her SR and Bacsinszky may, but I don't see why she wouldn't enter a warm-up tournament of two if she intended to play the Australian Open (as far as I know, she hasn't). So at this point, Radwanska is definitely in the main draw, and I believe Wozniak will be too unless Bacsinszky really does enter.
Neither Diatchenko nor Safina will play from the listed alternates.

Bojana should be considered above Isabella as she won a Aussie 25K challenger and thrashed Isabella twice during the summer.
Sam21
Dec 15th, 2011, 05:57 AM
I don't think Bojana should be considered above Bella because she thrashed her twice. Bella won a 25k too and hers was overseas, plus she played in 50k tournaments and sometimes WTA quallies. Bojana played 25k's and 10k's all year and hasn't proved she can compete at top 100 level. but still i hope they both get WCs!

Dec 15th, 2011, 11:29 PM
i probably didn't say that right, i meant compete against top 100 players. Holland put in a good effort against Medina Garrigues at the AO and against Safarova at Brisbane in 2009 (i don't think she's played anyone top 100 since) and Rogowska has taken sets off Safina, both Bondarenkos and Cirstea in slams and beaten Kirilenko. who knows how Bojana will go against a top player, but as i said i hope she gets the chance to see what she can do :)

Eventhough she just started playing this year she will be 25 y.o. next January so it may be quite a surprise to see her in the Q field. A MD doubles WC seems more logical (and definitely more deserving).
