I think she's had a decent season, ive only omitted two or three other tournament results cos she hasnt played much this year(a good choice unlike Dokic).

She's beaten Oremans, Svensson, Webb, Harkleroad and Bedanova.

She's pushed Myskina, Schett and Kim quite well but it seems her lack of experience hurt her there.

Has anyone seen her play? and do you think she will make much more progress in 2003? :)

she looks like zvereva. SM can i just ask why you seem to like a player so much that you have never seen play? not criticising, just wondering

I've seen her. Memory's a bit fuzzy though. All I remember when I watched her is that she ran after everything and never hit lobs (always went for passing shots on the kind of shots you'd expect players to hit lobs on). I can't remember anything else - not her serve, not how she strikes the ball, nothing!

I remember that at the end of the Clijsters match, she was just dead tired of running all over the place.

(Too bad the archives aren't here anymore!)

S.L cos she is the next big prospect for Yug. which is my background kinda...After Australia, Yug. is the next country im interested in tennis wise and other than both Jelenas there is not much talent coming from that region.

And i have also heard stuff on Jelena's game, character, and by those pics i just saw she doesnt look half bad ;).

btw- how many people have seen Sharpova play? im not a bandwagon jumper atleast with Jelena.j;)

I saw her play all 4 of her matches in Scottsdale this year.

She hits the ball very deep, pretty flat. Her game is ultimately like lindsays except a little bit less power, but her game is very similar. Her biggest weakness is her serve. The fastest 1st serve she hit was a 96 MPH. Her second serve averages around 75 MPH. She got attacked a lot on her serve which made the difference. When the point gets started and the point is at neutral, Jelena has a great chance of winning it. I truly believe she can hang with anyone in the top 20 from the baseline, and her close matches with Kim, Anastasia, Barbara(which I saw) and Daja reflect that.
