Her best results have come in Australasia...next succes? aussie open ;)! It would be good if she wins a few rounds there and plays a big match as the Asians get best access to aussie open out of all the slams. Go Angie!

it said that cho's leg was hurting in the second set or something like that.... i think she's just faking this injury coz it also happened at the asian games when she was facing angie.... another same excuse for losing her match.....

Some people said : Her game is similar like Lindsay Davenport, I haven't see her play live / TV! (I wish Angie will playing at Sydney Adidas International 2003)

Definitely she has a talent, she had already beat some of the BIG Name players such as : Smashnova, Kournikova, Tanasugarn, Sucha, Panova, etc.

Go Angie!

Yes, well i have seen her play.
Because she is so young she can be rather inconsistent..... but like any junior.... she is a big girl and cuffs the ball at an incredable rate when she winds up her backhand. Can have a big serve as well. loves to volley and ALWAYS plays aggressive. Her hitting style can be compared to davenports but she isn't as powerful yet.
I think she wins based on her talent and all court play..... she is not as powerful as Kuznetsova and Zvonareva...... but she still loves to play hard ball. :) she's a stunner as well. ;)

Don't know why, but people want to make Angie older than she is. She's not 18 until Dec. 12 (according to her WTA bio). So she has won 2 WTA singles titles and 1 WTA doubles title before her 18th birthday. Not bad at all. Obviously she's a good competitor. Saw her play in Los Angeles. The quality I noticed in her was the ability to learn fast and adjust her game to the conditions and her opponents strengths and weaknesses. Also, she's respectful but not intimidated by her opponents. I like her attitude. Look forward to seeing her play again.

I thought the WTA web site did her and the Volvo tournament an injustice by giving it such little press. There is only a short news service article about her win on their site today.

Again- the WTA proves that it's priorities are totally
screwed!! Everyone and their dog knows by now
that Tennis is hot, hot, hot in SouthEast Asia. Do
they even know the population of Indonesia?
There's tons of young tennis players yet to be
trained out there. We haven't even begun to
name the potential of the rest of Asia- Korea,
Thailand, Taiwan. Tennis is looked upon as a
very, very cool game. The women's game has
the potential to just as big or even bigger with more
appeal than golf here. I truly feel that tennis has
peaked in the USA. The potential is far better in
Eastern Europe then the USA. despite the Sisters,
Davenport, and Capriati. Where are the young great
tennis stars of tommorow in the USA?? It's all going
to come out of somewhere else. I wish they stop being so
blind to the facts!!

I would even say that tennis is going back up in
Japan too. They are (thanks to Kimiko date)
really supporting local clubs, and players again.

Anyway- Angie hits the ball pretty flat, and does
play like Lindsay. It's still pretty raw- and there's
tons of EU's; but Angie isn't afraid to experienment
nor move forward to the net for the volley. She's
alot better than that match against Anna at the US OPEN.
She got a good attitude, and has the desire to win.
I would even say that the majority of players from
Asia are like that- they seem to love tennis more than
their Western counterparts. It's not just a job, or
a paycheck or even drudgery for them.

I have watched Angie live when she was playing against anna at the US open.... like what all of you said, her attitude is always positive and encouraging in the match and she doesn't feel the 'underdog' and also never feels down when facing a higher ranked player.... she's a huge girl and and has good placings of the balls... that's what i noticed from her play at the US open....

also... i think her style of play is quite similar to davenport... she hits the ball flat and comes up to the net and volleys, just like how davenport does it so neatly.... it's been mentioned somewhere and i read that angie admires and is a fan of lindsay davenport coz of her spirit and determination... so i guess that's why angie plays like davenport ;)

keep going girl !!!

Thanks to her Pattaya's title, now Angie is ranked 59 for single and double is ranked 82! While she was playing at Volvo Open, it was no accident that Barry Wood, a well-known British tennis critic, paid special attention on her performance. Based on Barry's observation, Angie is having different advantage compare to other players. She is smart in analyzing her game and is able to apply her strategy solidly. Barry who used to gave critics or comments on Yayuk Basuki in the past, said that Angie is the great example of moonballer type. Even she is maybe the best one right now!

This kind of shot which is high lob with top spin that falls deep in the baseline of your opponent and it is no longer popular as it used to be. This kind of shot is actually no longer around since power game era has come!

Interesting enough, this shot is one of Angie's fatal weapons. Angie's opponent can become frustrated like Cho, her opponent in last week final. According to Angie's coach, Deddy, this shot is not okay for all opponents especially tall players who has solid volley, they can grab the ball first or do overhead. Angie's moonball is hated by her opponent since it has empty effect. It means that when you hit it it seems powerless! Nevertheless, there are a lot of weapons to be developed by Angie. Particularly, she has such hard forehand. Therefore, when she plays the match, she has to be smart in combining all her weapons to have winners! Keep smashing, G! I love U!

For Iin, if tomorrow I see Deddy, let me find out about Fed Cup from him! :) :D  :lick: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

I hope that she will develop more on her serve!! According to the article that i read somewhere, Angie's serve had improved in some ways. She can now place her serve at the right angle which is good at certain extent, i guess. She should put in more power on her serve and that's it. She will be inside top 50 very soon

Three cheers for Angie

Be very aware!!

Angie is gonna crack top 50 soon and maybe top 30 :D
