Notable Remarks:

As all players without US Open prediction are still playing either at 621K New Haven or 220K Dallas, there will be some adjustments.
Rankings after US Open will give an approximation for seeding in Tokyo & Beijing (only MM tournaments sandwiched between US Open and last P5/PM tournament in the season)
[1]Caroline Wozniacki (DAN) is guaranteed to be # 1 after US Open.
Venus Williams (USA) will start her US Open campaign with 560 points (= outside Top 100).
Kaia Kanepi’s (EST) 1,008 points and Alexandra Dulgheru’s (ROU) 1,006 points are not good enough for Top 50.

Vinci @ #15? Lord help us.

:vomits:

Vinci has had a good year. That being said, it really is strange seeing Kuznetsova, Ivanovic and Pavlyuchenkova below her no matter how badly they themselves have performed.

Actually, for me it's odd to see Kuznetsova anywhere near Top 30 considering her level of play lately.

After all warm up tournaments are played and everybody is ready to follow the last major of the season, here are some notable remarks about ranking projections after Flushing Meadows will close doors:

[1]Caroline Wozniaki will not only left Flushing Meadows as # 1 but will also enter PM Beijing on top spot. However, it is possible that “Ms Sunshine” will pass it over exactly one year after she gained WTA # 1 the first time.
Although there are seven contenders for # 2 spot, I realistically only see [3]Maria Sharapova and [4]Victoria Azaranka as challenger. If the latter will stay in play will be decided in R3 when she crash into championship favorite [28]Serena Williams.
Assuming it runs by the odds and Vica is the one who has to pay the toll for maintaining the objective criteria to determine seeds, her then 6,175 points will be the hurdle for # 3.To overtake her, [6]Li Na needs to confirm her seeding (= QF), [5]Petra Kvitová & [2]Vera Zvonareva have to advance into SF while those who put their money on [7]Francesca Schiavone for winning the Champion should get a hefty check.
As [10]Andrea Petković suffers from a laceration of meniscus but had no surgery, her performance in a potential R2 meet up to Jie Zheng will demonstrate if she is limited in her movements. If not, Andrea will make it for [9]Samantha Stosur, [12]Agnieszka Radwańska & Jelena Janković very difficult to be contenders for # 10 spot. Even if [28]Serena Williams will celebrate championship victory in a fortnight, she will need a helping hand of her opponents to enter Top 10 (impossible if Andrea advance into R4, Sam into QF or Aga/JJ into SF).
# 20 is too contested & wide open to talk about.

your ranking for Azarenka is off because the SEWTA gave her a 0 for withdrawing Cincy :oh:

also there should be a 1995 point difference between 1R and W, not 2000

Wozniacki should have 10,345 as the winner of USO and not 9,345. Other than that - nice way of presenting it!

My bad. I overlooked that any top 10 Player who fails to play in a P5 event will automatically receive zero points for the Tournament and as Vika finished # 10 season end 2010 it will count to her ranking as one of her best 16 Tournament results. However, I am positive that nobody will fulfill your expectations as nobody is perfect and works flawless expect yourself, of course. Thanks Njalle for pointing out the obvious.

You are mistaken. I go by the rules! As players who withdraw from USO will earn zero ranking points, I add 5 ranking points to players account AFTER they have played their R1.

I am not expecting anybody to be perfect ... just pointing it out :p

one more thing, due to Dementieva's retirement, everybody below her move up 1 spot for 2010 year end rank ... so Na Li actually is top 10 player for 2010 ;)

The last time I updated the opener was today at 05:33 PM. Li Na is written in bold. At the end of the table you will find an explanation for this: 2010 Season End Top 10 = bold.

To sum it up: Facts have it that I am aware of Na Li's credentials! I don't see any assistance in your comments posted at 11:21 PM (= almost six hours later).

PS: And the next time I will update the opener I will write Na Li because Li is her family name and I missed that part. Sorry for the inconvinience this may have caused you!

As the betting odds of three (from eight) R4 matches are too close to call, I decided to skip to update the table (but as always, post # 1 (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20101081&postcount=1) offers live rankings and head by head set-ups) and comment on different scenarios instead:

[3]Despite her earlier departure, Maria Sharapova will gain # 2 spot if neither [2]Vera Zvonareva will advance into SF or [7]Francesca Schiavone will be US Open Champion 2011. But both contenders are now involved in challenging R4 matches, hence there is still a long way to go: If [22]Sabine Lisicki will consistently bombing in serves at more than 120 mph and she doesn’t overplay and responds properly on defense when Vera is calling the shots, she will be hard to beat. While [17]Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is a nose ahead in betting odds (and some pounds heavier), I doubt if she will look stronger and fitter than Francie, when the final stage of the match will arise. And we saw it at Roland Garros this spring, that a 61 41 lead might easily slip away and transfer to a 61 57 57 loss.
[9]Samantha Stosur needs one additional round than [10]Andrea Petkovic to grab her # 10 spot. However, Andrea who is eyeing at [1]Caroline Wozniacki in QF, will overtake Marion Bartoli if she will advance into final four.
Even if [28]Serena Williams will grab the Championship, she will be(at least) one spot out of top ten.
If Angelique Kerber will sideline Monica Niculescu and will advance to QF for the first time in a major, she will be one or two sports shy of Top 40. This would be an impressive move for a player who was # 107 at the start of 220K Dallas a fortnight ago. But as this is not a one way street, [32]Kaia Kanepi will leave Top 50.
