I was patriotic when I started to follow tennis. Not anymore though, as those players was retiring I didn´t find a way to support our young players. Daniela, Zuza Kucova and doubles specialists Mertinak and Zelenay are the only who are still playing and they are on TOP of my fave list...but as they will retire I think there will be no Slovak even in TOP 10 in my fave list in both ATP or WTA.

Not at all, I don't really care for any of the German players except for Julia Görges who I like a tiny bit... but not really enough to be a fan.

I´ve picked my faves solely on their personality, I would never be able to root for someone who I can't stand just because they have a successful game or hold the same passport than me.

No...although a couple of times at U.S. Open when Jen Cap was playing a big match, I would let the enthusiastic crowd take me there, but that's also because I was a big Jen fan already.
Otherwise...I just like who I like and am not influenced by what country they are from.

The country I was born in doesn't have any players to support. But, even if it did, that wouldn't be a contributing factor.
I choose my faves through game style, personality off court, and whether or not I consider them great role models for the future of tennis.

Nope. I like Serena because I like Serena, not because she's American like me. Most of my favorite players (Sharapova, Ivanovic, Wozniacki, Lisicki, Li Na, etc.) are not from the US. Conversely, Melanie Oudin is as American as apple pie and I can't stand the sight of that little bitch.

Serena, Venus, Lindsay, and Monica, hell yeah. But that's when I was starting out and really didn't know many of the other international flavors yet. Dementieva and Dokic worked their way in too.

Then Henin and Clijsters burst out onto the scene in 2001, and I like them both, Kim moreso. Then the Serbs, and the rest of my signature worked their way in.

American's are typically 2nd tier favorites of mine, but I will only truly root for them during the Olympics/Fed Cup, if they are playing another 2nd tier fave of mine. Like today I was rooting for Nadia over McHale, and they are probably in the same tier level.

My parents are Thai and French, and I am usually defacto fans of Thai & French players as well.

I started watching the game because of Tamarine Tanasugarn in 1997 :)

I think it is well-known that I support tall, blonde, banged players regardless of their creed or place of national origin.

I do always root for the US women at Fed Cup, even when that means I'm rooting against one of my favorites.

Even if it meant rooting against Lena.

Even if it meant rooting against Lena with bangs. Of course, that's like one of the ONLY times that Vee DIDN'T slap the shit out of her. I mean seriously. The tennis gods piss in my corn flakes every fucking morning.

I'm not a Radwanska fan but I cheer for her when she plays everyone except Sharapova ;) Ula and Domachowska aren't threatening anyobody nowadays, so I kinda expect them to lose sooner rather then later  There are several players with Polish heritage on the tour and I kinda cheer for them too, but it's far from anything serious. It's good when they win, but it's not bad if they lose

I like players from Serbia, but I like my favorites a lot more....I mean I've been watching tennis since 2002 and I've really gotten to know those 4 as people and tennis players so I cant just change my mind just because a player is from my country...anyone agree with me?

Heck no.
Kinda hard to be patriot when my own country of origin (U.S.) doesn't embrace my fave as its own, nor even want my fave's image representing it.
My support is based on a player's technique, desire to win, passion for her craft, intensity level, personal morals, and whether I can relate to her on various levels.
My standards would probably be considered too high by most others, but we all choose and select per our own individual requisites. :)

Got into tennis because people from the country I was born in were doing well--Seles, Djokovic, Jankovic, and Ivanovic.

Still like the remaining players as my favorites, but I'm not a big fan of Troicki or Tipsarevic--the rest are my favorites (partially due to "patriotism", but 90% because I've grown to love their personalities and games).

I'm ABSOLUTELY patriotic. My country is small and my nation is not numerous, and sports patriotism here is on a high level. I always support our players in every sport, but some sports more and some players more. I mean, you don't know the person, you don't anything about his life, his success doesn't help you anything, but you're always routing for him.

Well, Jelena is my favourite player, but I support all the Serbians and I enjoy their success, even though I don't like, for example, Viktor and Janko much.

Still, I can't like any foreign player not near as much as I can support for Serbians. That's just the way it is. Well, personality and game makes you a bigger fan, but, if a player plays for my nation, he almost directly become someone I'm a bit cheering for.

And I can say that's a big feature of our nation. Patrotism is something that people always excel here.

I support whoever plays attractive and multidimensional tennis. There are not very many of them on the WTA these days. Maybe Kvitova sometimes, when she's mixing it up and not just ballbashing. Other than that, I watch whoever has a cute face and good legs.

At the moment I barely follow any WTA at all. Usually the players' looks can make up for the inferior quality, but with the current state of the tour the gap's just too big.

I generally support Australians who play out on the ITF circuit (so like all of them), because I have greater exposure to them and actually get to see them play live. Some that I don't like (Rodionova, Klein, Tomic to an extent and the over bearing coverage of all of Hewitt's matches etc).

I would support a lot of my other favs over Australians if they were to meet though.

Yes, absolutely. There was a good example yesterday, my top favourite on the men's side is Nadal and he played so bad against Verdasco that I stopped watching the match after the first set. When Agi plays I always watch her matches if I can, even if she sucks big time and just pushes.

very few ancitards on this board are serbian and even those who are from serbia seem to be ok. your opinion seems to be based on just one poster. ana even gets plenty of shit from serbians for not being patriotic enough to give her all in fed cup. something jj is worshipped for by serbian "patriots". so you got it all wrong on the wta side, moron, and that goes for your opinion about polish posters as well. i think you are right about serbian djokovic fans on mtf, though.
