Great publicity for the WTA, two women who were scheduled on Centre Court withdrew. :D

This is the last thing the Tour needs at the moment.

Top half just became wide open. Good chance for Jelena or Francesca to build some confidence before the Open. The same goes for Shuai and Nadia. Kveta can gain a bunch of points if she makes it through (and get to No. 4 in the rankings).

Sucks for her.

However, if you know you're going to withdraw, please do so before the schedule/draw is released.
It will be bad for the Tour if she becomes #1, she's way too self-centered.

Oh dear god. :hysteric:

I figured she would pull out of Cincy. I'm a tad surprised it was so late (unless, of course, the tournament waited until the last minute to release the information).

Alas, if it's still bothersome, it's best to let it heal up especially before a slam.

Get well soon Queen of Fuckery.

With Vikas's injury profile and her one dimension style play, it is difficult to see her challenge for the top spot. Although Zvonareva is really the only person in her way for #1 at this moment (Kim has injuries and lack of match play, and Wozniacki is in shambles), her physical well being is shaky.

If Serena can keep her injuries to a minimum and continue to play inspired tennis, she will most likely be #1 again. Kvitova, Lisicki, & Safarova have the tools to be great players, but they lack the 'grit' and warrior spirit to challege Serena at this moment. I believe the US Open will tell us alot about the 'creme of the crop' !

Actually the streak was anyone who beat Azarenka (either through retirement or a normal win) went onto win the tournament, from March to Wimbledon. And withdrawing isn't retiring. :)

They didn't boo Serena. The tournament had known Serena had WD when Nadal was playing the match before, but chose to wait until right before the crowd expected the players on court to announce the WD. That's why they booed.

We saw a young girl we all thought was fantastic, Vika. We're proud, we're happy, and it's nice that she remembers the fans as well. It was probably the easiest sell I've ever done, ... I did it on my mobile, and after two minutes of telling her about the USO, she said she'd buy the idea. :D
