Since monica's amazing comeback against Lindsay in today's match, I was thinking of other comebacks which were just as amazing and dramatic... at hand I can think of these:

1. Jennifer def Martina Aus Open 2002 4-6 7-6 6-2 after being down 6-4 4-0 and 4 match points
2. Martina def Serena Aus Open 2000 QF 6-2 4-6 8-6 after being down 4-1 in the 3rd set
3. Chanda def Novotna at French Open after being down 5-0 40- love in the final set.

and of course,
Monica's match today where she saved 7 match points.

And we thought Jennifer's comeback was the most heroic!

Venus Williams has had some super impressive comebacks that I think are very underrated. Had she saved 8 match points like she did at the Ericsson against Capriati in a grand slam final, that would've made all of those Comebacks look mild. Here are some other ones:

Injured, down 3-0 and break pts to go down 4-0 Serena Williams goes on to win 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 at the Italian

Venus Williams def Justine Henin after being down 6-2, 4-0 Amelia Island

Monica Seles saving 6 match points to def Serena Williams at the Estyle.com Classic in LA last year

Serena Williams comming from a 6-1, 5-2 deficit to def Lindsay Davenport in 98 at Sydney

Capriati comming from a 7-5, 4-1 (?) deficit to def Daniella Hantucova

Venus' comebacks at Amelia Island and at Key Biscayne were amazing.

I think Venus' intensity at match point is up there with monica's for the all time best...
Even at FO 2001 against schett...she played the match points so well

Asa Svensson came back from a set and 1-5 to see off Patty Schnyder last year... ;) just for Alx.

Patty came back on zurich beating Elena Bovina from 4-6 2-4 down.... :)

Best comeback of all was my old favourite Mary Joe Fernandez... She was 6-5,5-1 and matchpoints down to Gabriela Sabatini in the quarters of the 93 French Open... She was aboslutely hopeless until that point. She then said that she just opened up and hit the ball and relaxed as she wanted to win at least one more game and to make the match last over the hour mark...

She eventually won 1-6, 7-6, 10-8.... after about 4 hours... It was impressive as she was so hopelessly outplayed until that point.

Chanda's comeback aganist Jana at the French from 5-0, 40love was also great - I remember watching that. You kind of knew that as soon as Chanda made it 1-5 that she would win that Jana would crumble again...

Venus also had the great comeback against Hingis at the US Open.

Hingis was up 53 in the 3rd set; 15-30 on Venus' serve, had an overhead for two match points. It was downhill after Venus got the overhead back.

46 63 75 Venus, 2000 US Open.

Amelia Island by Venus; Ericsson Final by Venus.

How about Clijsters at the French?

Henin was up 62 42, points for 52, and Kim won 26 75 63.

I agree with Fernandez/Rubin at Roland Garros

Sanchez had quite a few...she was done 0-6 2-4 to Schett at Roland Garros 2000.... I think at the 94 US Open Finals against Graf she lost the first set 6-1!
