If only she could somehow obtain a new serve.

Masha looked relatively good apart some patches but who doesn't against Rodionova
:spit: @ the bitch attitude, no doubt.

A-Rod didn't play that terribly and her attitude was actually reasonable :)

57% points won on 2nd serve if she could stop those stupid DF sometimes her record would be awesome.

First set was relatively all right and then she enters in that DF-ing mode and most everything falls apart - how long before the serving issues are totally resolved...

Did not see the match but clean scoreline. How were the groundies ? :)

First set was much cleaner than last week's messes. Second set was dicey. But a win is a win.:p

LMAO at board crashing after Maria routes Rodionova:haha:
Good first set with some cracking winners, some hiccups in the second...serving woes really need to go away though:facepalm:

ROS and groundies were awesome. She brainfarted in the beginning of the 2nd set but got through. Her serving was great for the most part, reminded me of her Rome performance with those kick serves.

But she's not getting past Serena playing like this.

So much flop.

Anxiously awaiting quality play against quality opposition...still.

That was a long crash. I can't imagine it happened just because of this match.

Good recovery from Masha. She could win here if Serena crashes early.

 at the board crashing. Certainly couldn't be related to this, right?

Good first set, bad second. Please play more solidly!

Who needs haters when you have such 'positive' fans

The first set was pretty good. The second set could have been better but hey she won.

She had only two bad games. Period. Match was good overall.

I think it's time to face the fact that the serving woes are NEVER going away completely ... but if she carries on contending for Slam titles despite her shit serving, then it's fine by me and just testament to how good a player she is otherwise and particularly how mentally tough she is :)

The scoreline resembles Javanovski match (6-1, 7-5, broken 3 times) in Toronto, but here Maria has one day off to sort through the issues.

She'll never win another major with a shitty serve like that.

^It's more difficult without a dominant serve but never is a long time.

Exactly.
And lmao at the other Maria fans even in here who think she should play perfection tennis every match, even when she wins 1 and 3. This kind of pressure (that I'm sure Maria faces not just from fans) is so ridiculous. Kvitova bombed in Toronto too, so did Wozniacki, but no one says as drastic of things and brushes those losses off, and then they do about Maria literally winning in easy straight sets.
Get a grip, people. Maria, and no player, will need to be on their A game all the time, at all.

Ok ok her serve aint the best well a bit of a mess in fact but in case you all forgot she had a serious shoulder operation not so long ago so i applaud Maria for being out there and giving it her all. Personally i think she is doing really well since she has been back and long may it continue. WELL DONE MARIA another great win:bounce: xx

OMG! Apart from one poor serving game in the 2nd set and one poor return game at 5-2, this was a REALLY good performance by Maria, the best ball-striking I've seen from her in ages, maybe even at Wimbledon. Everyone needs to STFU bout serving woes and DFs - how many players have a totally clean record EVERY match????:(

Galang
Aug 17th, 2011, 12:33 PM
Tbh 5 DF's is pretty common for the WTA.

Apart form that one service game she was pretty solid. I think she realised it was only Rodionova on the other side of the net, so she didn't have to go for her 2nd serve so much.

Maria improved her footwork from Toronto and struck the balls cleanly last night.

How about when Maria verbally and physically threatens officials and other players, and she stops giving credit to opponents when she's been defeated and throws tantrums over not being put on main courts and generally acts like a piece of annoying, arrogant trash, then you can make that comparison :yeah:
