Reality check. Rebecca Marino in her entire professional career as of now has defeated a grand total of three players ranked in the top 75. That's it. Three. In contrast Scheepers has defeated 5 top 75 players this year alone and over 10 in her career.

Of course Marino is substantially younger than Scheepers and she is still improving, but as of right now there is not nearly the difference in class between these two players that the rankings indicate.

maybe we need to give chanelle credit though..she obviosuly is playing well. Maybe her ranking falling out of the top 100 is motivating her this week

I was just going to say this. + Just 1 broken serve and 2 BPs in a whole match. That´s shocking no matter how bad returner you are, Chanelle´s serve is almost non existent.

great win for chani. hope she can challenge kvitova a little in her match today....it's always strange with chani, sometimes she plays great matches against seemingly much better players, and then again she loses 3 or 4 1r matches in a row....but anyway, good wins so far, keep it up chani!
