Of course Nastya will be back. Give her some time.:)

Another thing: I know it has nothing to do with tennis. Itís silly to post about too. But I read some rumours about Nastyaís new boyfriend: He is 34 yo. and he is not from Russia. Nastya met him in St. Anton last December. I donít know about itís true or false. Does somebody of you knows something about Nastyaís new bf.???

Nastya was just smiling and asking the guest general questions which was expected though.
Still I didn't get the idea of bringing her to the hosting of football talk-show.

all abt football, TV blablabla....

but:

In fact Nastya will have several tournaments under her ranking:
Auckland-07
AO-07 (mandatory)
Miami-07 (mandatory)
Roland Garros (mandatory)
Wimbledon (mandatory)
USO-06
Zurich-06.

Total: 7 tournaments and 4 ranking points

In one word: rather boring.

But then again on Russian TV we have two good tennis commentators: Anna Dmitrieva (former Wimbledon semifinalist) and Alexandr Metreveli (former Wimbledon finalist). All others are just :help:
So I can say Nastya was 'on the level'; it's just... the level is not that high.

Excuse me for butting in here from the Bridge of the currently under repairs SS Dementieva ,but I feel the organsisers and TV people would have probably cramped Myskinas natrual style sadly ,which is a shame really ,I mean can u imagine her if left to do her thing ,it would be great!

Yes, in interviews Nastya usually sounds interesting. But as commentator, I don't know, maybe she felt uncomfortable, maybe because the match wasn't great? She wasn't bad but wasn't as interesting as I expected.

Nastya gave interview to Russian magazine 'ProSport' which is available on her official site. Imo, it's very interesting reading that answers many questions concerning her future. I can't translate the whole article now but provide you some quotes of Nastya:

"I don't care of my ranking anymore. I won 10 tournaments, Grand Slam, Fed Cup, Kremlin Cup twice. I have some good victories under my belt so if I realize I can't play I won't be upset too much. Cos I know I was trying my best and gave the sport it all.

"I want to return to tennis but I'm not gonna risk my health. I can't promise I'll come back for sure and beat everyone.

"I don't wanna prove anything to anyone in my comeback. Though I didn't have career of Graf or Navratilova still I've achieved quite a few. Even if I return I'll do it only for myself".

You know I've got feeling that during the whole interview Nastya wanna say she is happy with her life now, she is happy with herself now. And if it ain't broke why fix it?

selyoink
Apr 4th, 2007, 02:11 AM

1) I 'put it down' only in hope to prevent meaningless threads and posts like "Nastya pulls out of IW and Doha", "Nastya withdraws from Doha, IW, Miami" etc. which always confirm the facts that have been known weeks before.
2) At the beginning of the year I said we would not see Myskina on court for a long time and probably would never see her on court at all. Some of her 'hardcore fans' told me shut up (just like you did) but that didn't change the fact I was right.
3) Being a fan doesn't mean being a blind and stupid fanatic and refusing to see evident things.

WTF? I have to say this is the 1st I have heard of it. But having googled Jens Gerlach and LTA it definately seems to be the case that Nastya is now without Jens  . She was being half coached by Larisa Nieland last year so my guess is that having seen the photos of her practices with Neiland at the Fed Cup sessions that perhaps Neiland is now her coach.

Apparently Carl Maes has also been recruited by the LTA. Frankly the amount of high quality coaches the LTA have recruited in the last year has been unprecedented. I can not ever think of any country suddenly recruiting such a large supply of name coaches to look after their junior players before. Nothing like this comes close. Folks like Jens Gerlach and Peter Lundgren are class and I hope that they find satisfaction in their current jobs.

I really hope the fact that Jens has decided to move on isn't a sign indicating Nastya's lack of commitment for the future. Nastya and Jens were a great team. I really hope they both find continued success apart. :tears:

Neiland is Svechenkos (I can't spell it right either, thank God it's changed) married name.

She was a very good player in her day, and a very important figure in the history of Russian tennis as I recall. I could be wrong, but wasn't she the first Soviet to insist on keeping her earnings rather than having them turned over to the state?

No, that was Zvereva.

Larisa Savchenko-Neiland won 66 titles in doubles including Wimbledon and Roland Garros w/Zvereva, 4 titles in mixed.
In singles she is two-time winner and seven-time runner-up. At Oakland in 1988 she defeated No.20 MJ Ferandez, No.6 Mandlikova, and No.5 Sabatini before losing to No.2 Navratilova in the final. The next year she beat Navratilova but lost to Garrison in the final. She also reached Tier I final at Tokyo where she beat Novotna but lost to Navratilova. She made it to two GS quarterfinals (Wimbledon and US Open) and was ranked as high as No.13 in singles and No.3 in doubles.

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4620/illu3iy5.jpg

His name is Konstantin Korneev and he's... an ice-hockey player
Btw, Kostya is *only* 22 and so cute

The article says they've already chosen the wedding ring
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/933/illu4zf6.jpg

Oh... and in the very end of the article they write:
Anastasia... announced that she was going to leave the sport and begin her TV career.

Have a fun, guys!

For a second I thought you were talking about some gossips about Nastya AND Tarpischev :tape:

But this *new* gossip could very well explain why she's returning at Roalnd Garros: she just wanna spend her honeymoon in Paris!
How romantic! :hearts:

Like I said before, there were rumors in Melbourne that she was marrying Jens.
We'll all know when the RG draw is out.

So it looks like Nastya will be coming back at Roland Garros. Or on the other hand she could be retiring. Or perhaps she will be coming back later in the year. Yep, the situation looks as clear as always. Personally I hear so much conflicting information I don't know what to think but I guess the best way to deal with it is to emotionally prepare oneself for the worst and still keep hoping for the best.

Oh and I am jealous of all you Russians who get to watch this Football programme Nastya is hosting.

Damnit Nastya. So much gossip on you. I wish she'd do an interview on all these accusations or something. :o

First Nastya and Jurgen, then some guy involved in business, now this ice hockey player.

Injury break, says she might retire, her comeback might be at RG...

Oh how I love being a Nastya fan. :inlove:

Nastya's official site put up some info on her.

crappy internet translation:

The winner " Ролан Garros " and double обладательница the Cup of Federation of Anastas Myskina has denied the information which has appeared in a number of mass-media that it has decided to finish with tennis.
When the correspondent "МК" has phoned well-known теннисистке, it all over again has declared it, and then, having referred that at it training, has transferred a tube to mum to Galina who has noticed:
- My God, I at all do not understand, who gives out all these news!
- Настя plans to play on forthcoming " Ролан Garros " or for the present does not feel completely physically ready?
- While it has not accepted the final decision. But in any case Настя, notwithstanding what now actively works on TV, is measured to continue career …

It's Nastya. Any possibility from reinjuring her foot in the 1st game and withdrawing to smacking down TOB 6-0, 6-0 in the finals is possible.

I think she'll struggle since it's been so long, but she's so unpredictable.

I remember someone very informed saying just few days ago that she is not playing RG and W and might only come back for USO.. Glad to see that someone wrong.. ;)

And .. please .. good draw .. For St. Anastasia Sake..:)

I knew that RG is a distinct possibility since I saw those pics of her working out with Savchenko on indoor red clay.. What's a point of working out on red clay if you are not going to play RG..

Our girls comebacks used to be very predictable.. Long losing streaks .. for granted.. But now, I really hope that the most important thing is that Nastya's complicated tennis mind is sorted out, she is well rested metnally and the quagmires of what started in Athens are left well behind. Nastya is now wise, intelligent woman and very experienced tennis player, and, hopefully with a complete piece of mind. I totally allow that she can do a capriati and grab a couple of precious silver plates before fully rededicating herself to her boyfriends.. :) And we love her..:hearts:

So I'm not responsible for that

And, imo, if Nastya was serious about her comeback she would have skipped RG, Wimbledon and US Open to try herself at Tier III/IV or ITF events. I doubt she is Top-100 level player now.

Glad she is coming back.

I have no expectations other than a first round loss though. I hope she draws a seed honestly. It will better show what kind of condition she is in.

In terms of getting a win then someone like ALG, Kirilenko, or Castano will do nicely. ALG and Kirilenko have sucked for a long time and Castano just plain sucks.
