That brilliance could have just been Kuznetsova hitting tons of errors and then turning things around with a flurry of winners to end it. That would be my guess. Either way losing 18 points in a row in unacceptable.

My guess is that Kuznetsova was hitting a lot of errors in the beginning of the set and then started blasting some winners which forced Nastya to go for more resulting in errors.

When I watched the scores, it was 4-1 in the second set. I hoped she would win at least one set, that would have been a great result IMO. The next time I watched the scores, it was already finished :eek: :banghead: :smash:

Draw as expected I guess, Molik is possible early on, but she still seems badly out of shape. If Nastya is any sort of decent form she should waltz to the final. But I doubt she will...

I don't think Molik will get that far, she lost to Dellacqua in a practice match at Fed Cup to see who should get the 4th spot in the team & then lost again to Dellacqua again in a 50K in Japan, then won 2 games from Srebotnik last week. But she did just beat Dellacqua in the aussie wc playoff for RG 6/4 3/6 6/3 and now plays Sophie Ferguson.

Pironkova could be tough in round 2. I don't know what she has done recently since her win over Venus at AO.

Anna could be tough in the semi but that would depend on Anna's leg after withdrawing from Rome, but I guess it is ok if she is playing the week before RG.

But maybe she had physically aged about 15 or 20 years by the end of that match, like we all did. ;) The woman I remember had remarkable blue eyes too, which doesn't seem to be the case for Neiland. Next time I'll better check some pics before I start ranting. :o

Interesting as long as she keeps winning. Even though I'm not confident her game I cannot wait to see what Roland Garros holds in store for her. I'm just hoping she doesn't get either Henin-Hardenne or Kuznetsova in the 4th round. I'd much rather have Schnyder or Dementieva. Of course Nastya might not make that far.

As for this week the title would be great but as long as she wins a few matches and gets to the semis I'd be happy.

Yeah I'm very curious as well. I hope a coaching change has occurred. Still I would feel kind of bad for Jens. He did help coach her to a slam title, but things obviously have not been working recently.

It was one of the headline photos that rotates with the other stories. But now they have updated it for todays matches so it has a picture of Groenefeld. So, I don't know if you can find the picture anymore. Try looking in the Istanbul Tournament forum. Might be a pictures thread in there with Nastya.

If you do a yahoo news search you can find pictures but they are pictures of her wearing the normal pink top. Maybe the wta site used a picture that wasn't from Istanbul? :scratch:

Yeah I wouldn't think Krajicek would be a very good clay court player so I fully expect Nastya to make the final. But both Peer and ALG could beat her.

Now onto the RG draw. I think Mirza is a great first round opponent. She has very little experience on clay and has been awful this year. Nastya should have no problems in that match. Same with second round. Ivanovic has not had any good results this year either. So I think that is a great draw. Unfortunately Nastya stands little to no chance against Henin-Hardenne.

Her draw is ideal for three rounds in my opinion. But she really needed to draw Schnyder or Dementieva as a 4th round opponent. As it is I see her making the 4th before getting annihilated. Still it would be her second best result by far at RG.

In the last 2 points of the tb Nastya was fantastic!!

Peer will be tough, she seem to have been playing outstanding tennis this week (or did her opponents just suck? Can't tell without decent statistics.) None the less, if focussed Myskina should be able to win this and take her first singles title of the year. I hope for the best tomorrow.

I don't like her draw at RG much though, first Henin, than probably Petrova - anything else would probably have been so much better. She should reach the fourth round though, everything more than that would be a huge bonus - would simply be amazing actually.
I might be possible though that Henin is rusty and tense during her first matches - like she was last year (until after the Kuznetzova match) - if so there will definately be opportunities...

Well theres Negatives and Positives here ,She played solidly for the week ,when she would normally have struggled and then lost a tight final she should have won ,but somehow she seems to be going in the right direction really ,not quite sure if shes gonna ever get right back up there ,but shes far from headed backwards at least. Needs to really maintain concentration ,Sheer is good and played well ,but Nastya really threw that one away which is kinda sad ,but there we go, RG now....onwards.....

Apparantly she has some kind of inury (muscles of the right arm). I hope it isn't too serious. Maybe the injury bothered her during the final. Peer was very impressive during the whole week, so we knew it would be a hard match for Nastya. I'm happy she reached the final (3 straight set victories :eek: ), but seeing her lose like this hurts. She was so close. Anyway, Nastya sounded positive after the match (but she always does lately, even after losing to a player ranked 309 :o ), so I hope she gained some confidence.

What is weird (or not...) about Nastya is her sad look all the time. look at Nadia- she said that her improvement is because she change her attitude to be more positive and more calm and smiling...She seems always like someone with no motivation at all...you can see this when she come to court from the bench between the games, she is walking very slowly like saying "I must play?"...
