The guy next to Elena is Philipp Kohlschreiber, a young German player. she is coached by Dmitry Degtriarev (?). At least thatīs what my personal tennis bible, the www.wtatour.com website tells me;)

LMAO! I am actually GAY - although I only came out and led a gay lifestyle when i turned 22 (i'm now 24). I don't like girls like that anymore, and I probably never did. I just did it to fit in.

Nastya was the girl I used to think about in those days, so the fascination continues! Probably if the opportunity arrived (to do anything ie marry or kiss her) i'd run away with my tail between my legs :P

I am not a mean or arrogant person but I can only hope that Nastya will never work her way into that site...and donīt even try to post a "itīs not true"-message over there  They all probably would think that youīre the lier as you canīt stand the thought of Nastya having a danish boyfriend who looks ultimately great...I should write a uni-paper about wishful-thinking through the internet of some people.

I was quite humbled when I read the myskina.com guestbook. I take pride in being warped and bizarre, but I can't compete with that! That stuff is in a league of it's own. The good news is, apparently only three or four (or one or two) people ever look in that book, except out of morbid curiosity. You know, it's like when you were a kid and another kid puked in school; you knew you shouldn't, but you looked anyway. It seems that even the guy running the site never looks in the guestbook.

I agree with Spunky, I hope Nastya NEVER takes a peek at that puddle of vomit.

The person who has been writing in that book obviously has a problem with women. You know the type. They've never been kissed, they lack social skills, they have low self-esteem, they sit at home dreaming up degrading fantasies about women but in the presence of a confident woman they wilt like an Orchid in winter.

Okay, cute family story--I have to boys, 4 years apart. El started playing 'keeper at age 5, so when Ian started to play, I asked him if he wanted to be a 'keeper too.

Ian looked at me as if I'd ask him to eat a hairball and said "no way."

Apparently, the country full of slots is Poland now, thanks to Ola. Germany is the "Hitler country". God, what the hell is Pierre (the webmaster) thinking???

I feel sorry for the persons who actually believe all the crap and the stories over there which goes like this:

FACTS :tape: :
- Nastya has a tv show on her own, called "Anastasia TV"
- Nastya has a new boyfriend, a Danish guy she got to know in Filderstadtī05
- Nastya doesnīt play any warmups because she wants to spend the time with her new bf
- Yee Wah is a slot (at least that means I have a well-paid job!)
- Germany is "Hitler country"
- Poland is "Slots country"
- Jens Gerlach now is the coach of Sharapova
- Nastya has a new coach or is coachless
- people over there - who donīt have the very same writing style as a certain person - are worried to death about Nastyaīs "new life"

Have I already told you about the other facts, that I know? You gotta believe me as I am the slot who seems to know everything about Nastya:
- her dog Gorde knocked up a Lady dog and Gorde has to pay a lot for aliments but Nastya doesnīt want to pay for it
- sheīs having an affair with an Australian guy, a player from the ATP tour and rumours say itīs Hewitt!
- Gerlach wants to leave Nastya next year - as he too - knocked up his girlfriend and now he has to marry her
- Nastyaīs new coach will be Anna Kournikova!
- Actually Nastya and Sharapova are sisters, however they deny that!

DONīT TELL ANYONE!!!

BIG talk from a country that only eliminated us in '02 because of missed handball call . . .
:armed:

Nah, seriously, we've made huge bounds in the last decade or so. We are a regional powerhouse at least. Admittedly, that region is CONCACAF, but we do hold our continental cup and qualified first in our group.

I read the other day that they say about 5% of Yanks are footy fans--but that still translates to about 15 million folks which puts us on level with some of the mid-level European and South American powers.

But that draw was murder, so I don't expect us to repeat our 2002 run to the quarters.

Thanks for the vote of confidence (although I wonder if you'd have said that if I'd raised another Lena D fan instead of a Nastya fan , no seriously, thanks for the compliment).

Kasey Keller, our 'keeper, has played most of his career in Europe. When he's on, he can be just invincible. But he's not as steady as some of the other #1s (which is why I always leaned toward Friedel).

Yeah, some of the things in that guestbook are funny, unless it happens to be your name and email address being posted with sexually explicit and degrading comments or someone uses your name and posts sexually violent rape fantasies about Nastya.
I'm all for free speech and against censorship, but not when it comes to libel and harrassment. I contacted the site administrator too, with no response or results. When you operate a website, it seems to me you accept some responsibility for it's content, including the guestbook. A "slut" is someone you can have a really great time with.
A "slot" is someone you can have a really great time with but who will spell your name wrong in the paternity suit.

What I want to know is, what does "skim" mean? ("Daisy Duck" is going to "skim" Per and Spunky.) Does this term mean anything to anyone?

a-m.com is awsome! If you haven't read part 1 of Nasty's '05 season in review, I urge anyone who is a Nastya fan to check it out. It really captures the emotional impact the first half of '05 had on Nastya and her fans. It brought back a lot of memories and feelings for me. It was recently added to the site. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Per always seemed like an emotionally excitable boy, but good hearted. I guess he was keeping his dark side under wraps until recently. He may find himself in a lot of trouble if he keeps up his malicious activity.

skimmed, skim·ming, skims.

To remove floating matter from (a liquid).
To remove (floating matter) from a liquid.
To take away the choicest or most readily attainable contents or parts from.
To coat or cover with or as if with a thin layer, as of scum.

To throw so as to bounce or slide: skimming stones on the pond.
To glide or pass quickly and lightly over or along (a surface).

I realize that the administrator can't control what people post in the guestbook, but I think he has an obligation to monitor it and delete content that crosses a certain line.

When Anastasia won the French Open, she only gave up 14 games in the last 3 rounds.
It was similar to what Justine did this year.
She has a great game when she's on. Great court coverage, and she can mix pushes up the middle, flat groundstrokes with pace, and drop shots.

She has to keep her mind on the current point. It's a focus issue.

Nah...I am pretty firm in this matter. Drugs have nothing to do with sports and if the samples are both positive, Iīd like to see her out and donīt feel pity about it. Of course there will be the typical "my doctor gave it to me, I didnīt know it!" or in this case "I was pregnant...I didnīt know it!"-excuses but who wouldnīt try to get out of something like that? Itīs like me having told my mum that the weed sheīs found in my drawer years ago wasnīt mine, itīs a friendīs and I donīt even know what that is (although in my case, it worked :tape: ) I am a nice person so I hope that little Sesil got knocked up and that is because she had a high dose of that substance in her body.

Iīve always said it...thereīs just one thing Nastya (or any one of my faves) could disappoint me in and thatīs when they are caught using illegal substances. Nastya and Sveta (that was close!) were the players with the most doping tests last year.

I hate drugs in sport! All my fav's in tennis are smaller girls (Nastya, Hingis, Marina Erakovic, Hantuchova, Kirilenko), other people taking drugs makes it even more difficult for them to physically cope. I hope anyone who takes drugs knowing full well the benefits, is expelled from tennis for as long as possible. It's cheating. I don't understand how you could ever celebrate winning when taking drugs. You are living a fallacy.

People from steroids often die young too.

I totally agree - that is the only reason I could stop cheering Nastya too - drugs. Even if she never passed a first round again, I would still support her more than if she was involved in a doping scandal.

She would movefrom my most loved players, right into my hated echelon with Davenport and Sharapova - if she touched anything performance enchancing. Socail drugs don't worry me though. How would marijuana help your performance anyway. When I competed at World Champs etc, marijuana never showed in my tests. Although one of my diving friends did have a positive test of caffeine!

A high reading of either can be considered a stimulant because it keeps you awake and alert!

I do agree with the testing for marijuana or social drugs in sports such as car racing though (because you can easily harm someone else). But the thought of it helping a tennis player is quite amusing. We have already talked about Nastya drunk, pregnant, with children and being a bully - but Nastya stoned on court :tape:

I thought she looked up at the scoreboard and said, "Shut the fuck off." She had complained to the chair umpire earlier in the match because the big screen was distracting her during her service motion. Nastya found it distracting to see herself serving on the big screen overhead while she was serving. The chair umpire shrugged-off her complaint and said nothing could be done about it. Later, other players agreed that it was distracting.

I think the "Kiss my Russian ass." comment was directed at Yuri, while the "Go suck your own dick." remark was meant for Jens.

Apparently Nastya is still in Moscow and has not headed down under. She has been spotted on Taganka St (Moscow). The comment posted below is from the Russian forum, and someone has taken a photo of her on their pxt phone. Apparently she was at the birthday of someone in the Russian band 'Uma Thurman'.

А Настя была на Дне Рождении одного из братьев Кристовских из Группы Ума2ман... Вот... Отмечалось оно на Таганке, в одном из клубов... Фотка просто жуткого качества, но я выложу...

She was bound to meet a top 10 player in the 4th round anyway, with a 13-16 seeding she would meet 1-4 and with 9-12 a 5-8 which is much better.
So if the seeds hold, she'll meet in the 4th round Pierce, Henin, Schnyder or Dementieva.

If I remember correctly, somebody did doctor a picture of Nastya to make her blonde and posted it in the off-court pictures thread a year or two ago. It looked beyond terrible. After looking at it, I couldn't eat or sleep for a week. Finally, after some rather intense shock therapy I was able to resume a normal life. (Well, the life I'd previously been leading if you want to be technical.) This thread has conjured up the memory of that picture and I'm starting to feel jittery. I have three Foster's Lagers that should take care of that, so I'm off to self-medicate.

You're joking, right?

Although that's not the only reason I root for her. (Exhibit A I don't just pick women players on looks: my all-time fave is Martina N.) When she made the Olympics and the US Open semis in 2000, Elena was just such a breath of fresh air after Anna, Martina, and the Williams sisters --the whole emergency trip to Nike town during the US Open was so funny and endearing, at least for me. I also have a thing for headcase tennis players since I feel an afinity for them. And at the time, the way she traveled with her mom everywhere was cute. (I'll admit that since she's now 24, it's getting a little creepy).

I didn't "discover" Nastya until 2003, when her oncourt antics and intelligent strategy won me over. Her hilarious interviews and unpredictable ways soon moved her way up on my list of personal faves. In all honesty, if I'd known about Myskina first, I'd probably rate her as my #1 because she's such a free spirit and all. But after 3 years of supporting Lena, I had to stick with her.

And yes, Nastya's pretty cute, too.

meyerpl
Jan 6th, 2006, 03:10 PM
Hi Max. Yes, I was joking. I enjoy your imaginative and unique way of expressing your attraction to Elena, her honker, her demeanor and her goddess-like features. I get it too. My feelings mirror yours; had I discovered Elena before Nastya, she would probably be my favorite. As it is, Elena is a close second. You have pretty much articulated the same reasons I find these two Russians so appealing and it isn't all about looks. I'm a sucker for quirky players with amazing talent who are unpredictable and have certain vulnerabilities. (And unique beauty.) I respect and admire nearly every player because I find what they do amazing beyond comprehension, but Myskina and Dementieva have captured my emotions. I get wrapped up in their success or failure and ride the emotional rollercoaster they take themselves and their fans on. Win or lose, I'm along for the ride.
Given my attraction to quirky players, I have also discovered a growing affection for Schiavone. I can just imagine Schiavone and Nastya together on a three day road-trip. I imagine they'd either hit it off or constantly conflict with each-other. Either way, it would make for a good movie. I think law-enforcement would come into the picture, one way or another.
Max, you do a great job of identifying Nastya's and Lena's characteristics and harnessing them in your humorous scenarios. I still laugh at the mental picture you painted of Nastya's daughter ripping a toy from Lena's daughter's hands because Nastya's daughter had thrown hers against a wall and broken it. Even my wife, who usually slips into a coma at the mention of tennis, found that one humorous.

I don't think Lena would have me on bilge duty for more than, oh, 50 years or so.

Nastya is in Sydney doubles! Will she be in singles too? Apparently she may have taken a WC! Her and Dinara will be a good pair! I am excited! Nastya is playing within 2 days :)

[1] Raymond/Stosur vs. [Q]
Kuznetsova/Mauresmo vs. Sekulovski/Watson
[3] Morariu/Stubbs vs. Birnerova/G.Navratilova
Douchevina/Yan vs. Myskina/Safina

Weird... Probably she thought she could get a WC then left it too late... Perhaps someone else will pull out through injury and leave an opening for Nastya?

At least in doubles she will be on court before AO in some form though.

Good pair. Relax ppl, it's better than nothing abd besides you know last year's story with Sydney and the heat. All the big players withdrew.

I agree it's really weird.:awww:
Between, it could be a great way to make some good practices without having to tire herself in a single matchs.

Itīs a weird but fun decision. Last year she said it was the mixed doubles experience she had at the French Open that reminded her that tennis can be fun and not only about pressure. Maybe she wants to have a chilled start into the season. Weīll see how it will turn out.
