well here we are again! the SS Dementieva and the Gunship Myskina square off once more! no other match worries me so much ,the form Elena's in and the players shes beaten should make me confident ,and Iowuld be against almost ANY player than Nastya ,but for some reason I have yet to fathom , Elena seems to really struggle ,shes got to put aside personal feelings for a while ,tomorrow Nastyas her worse enemy ,but Anyways I like NAstya indeed ,quite a lot ,but if she wins tomorrow ,you do all realise I am gonna have to have her killed dont you!

Seriously ,lets hope for a good match ,and I think Lena really deserves this one ,just for once ,but I f nastya wins she MUST win the wjole thing or I will be so pissed its not true ,cos the way lenas playing ,I see her beating almost all the others inc miss MS ,but NAstyas our biggest hurdle right now.. as said ,may the best gir l on the day win !

Maybes lena should just challenger her to a weight lifting contest ,arm wrestling ,pull ups anything ANYTHING but tennis!

We do get press passes. This year Filderstadt didnīt work out for me as they send someone else but we try next year.

Still, I envy Greenout the most as he works for Justine Henin-Hardenneīs official website. Definetly the best official one out there of any player. Nastya should take a glance on her "official" website once and just let a-m.com have the privilege  I mean she does think that www.anastasiamyskina.com is actually running  I was thinking about maybe shooting Nastyaīs manager an email. What a horrible match :(
This was a real confidence killer. She played like crap: 50% of her strokes went into the net, the other 50% went wide. Lena didn't even play that well to beat Nastya today imo.
But well, shit happens. I'm really disappointed but I'm trying to stay positive. I hope she just had an off-day and will continue improving her game and rebuilding her confidence the way she is doing since Wimbledon. There will be another KC next year and she will shine during the 2006-season (this is just pep talk to cheer myself up, I'm so disappointed with her performance today :o )
better luck in Zurich

Bad luck! I know its not easy to take losses ,believe me ,we on the SS Dementieva know all about that ,imagine how heartbroken we were when Lena lost to Nastya after havign MPs in Wimb ,but I think it was lenas time today ,and you have to admit ,the girls got awesome power ,dont go hard on Nasty ,she tried but ELena didnt give much away today, she was too strong and made few errors..

If Nastyas got lose ,may as well be to her bestest buddy! and I was so proud of ELena for not making a huge scene of winning ,she must have wanted to but held back in repect for her dearest friend..

Well obviously i am over joyed ,cant lie ,we waited so long for this but dont despair at least Nastyas beaten the players she used to lose too earlier in the year,,

Myskinas certainly playing better than she has been lately ,I know some here keep saying how bad she was ,and true ,she shoulda capatalized after breaking Elena in 2nd set ,but LEnas lethal on return games and puts so much pressure on .I watched match as saw plenty of nice play from Myskina ,but Elena has what seems like 3 times her strength and she used it wisely today ,I am sure we wil lmeet again soon ,and once again I will dread it! This is the real problem. Her ranking  She risks not being seeded in the tourneys and that could be a problem. And with the new rules (no more bonus points) it will be very difficult to climb back up in the top 10.

I don't think the bonus points will be an issue.
Anastasia needs a big AO. Get points, get confidant, start the year right.
If she plays well, she'll get points. The YEC has everyone starting at 0 points in January.

It really doesn't matter. If Anastasia plays well, she'll do well.

Time to regroup everyone...even a blind person (I donīt know what it is with my usage of the word blind today) sees the obvious: Yes, Nastya didnīt play well. In fact she really sucked today, although she said she played kinda well. BUT...and here it comes - please, please, please, please look back a few months: Need to remind you?!?

Nastya did not only play badly, but she wasnīt on the court at all with her head. She looked like a walking corpse out there! No life, no sparkle in her eyes, no fist, no nothing! I never said it out loud cause I thought it wouldnīt make any sense but when I talked to her in Berlin, as nice as it was, I couldnīt help but thinking "OMG...what the hell is going on with you?" She was incredible nice to me but it was so obvious that she wasnīt her usual self. I am totally sick of the fact that I see this very same sad face on my best friend for a few months now and her dadīs health is very bad currently. Thus I am super happy that Nastya passed this stage of her life and that makes me hopeful. She may not play like she did in 2004 but I think thereīs definetly a progression. Sheīs happy again with her life and the rest will eventually come as well. She canīt win a huge tourney out of a sudden.

2006 will be a fresh start with like zero points to defend in the first half of the year. She can catapulte herself back into the top ten then. Please stay optimistic guys! We survived those dreadful months, so why canīt we now do the same?

If she keeps playing like this year, she won't be in the top 10.
Next year, there's no points to defend, no real pressure.
It's a situation more like 2004.

And the more impressed we are how incredible fast you have made your way into our all hearts  Itīs sport Lucas...one day youīre the winner, then on another day everyone forgets about you. But well..as far as I am concerned, I will always stick to Nastya. No doubts about that. Slumps come and go and sometimes they stick a bit longer than expected but come to think of it, right now, Nastya is the most successfull one out of my four faves (incl. Mr Roddick). Impressive huh?

Well, I for one following Nasty helps you learn to like the sport in general. It's a good one, and with all due respect to the greatness that is Nastya, it's one with lots of great personalities and fun to follow. True...Iīve been a fan of so many things and persons in my life (Boyzone, The X-Files, Friends, Abercrombie & Fitch, Justine, Nastya, Miffedmax)...there has always been ups and downs - especially when that one guy from Boyzone - which is a Boygroup - outed himself! Then X-Files...well, went down hill when Mulder left the show, Friends - really miss them, A & F - awkward when they got sued, Justine - I think she actually managed to get into a deeper slump than Nastya and people say that her virus is back, Miffedmax - no disappointments yet :worship:

Well...what I wanted to say is that being a fan of someone/something is very often very nice but sometimes you just have to endure periods when the things are not going the way you like them to go :)

Spunky is right: it was a horrible match, but she just had an off-day. That can happen to everyone. She started to improve and she'll continue to do that. But Nastya stays Nastya, which means that there are a lot of ups and downs (and yesterday was a down). I really hoped for a threepeat but I was aware of the fact that it was rather improbable after the season she had. And well, she's in good company: Mauresmo lost one round earlier, Sharapova also lost in QF.
I should stop posting right after a loss, coz I write crappy stuff when I'm disappointed (and I'm always very disappointed when she loses).
She'll rebounce in 2006. Plenty tournaments ahead and let's start in Zurch!

She's the only thing that connects me to this sport.Last year there were 2 Russians in the FO semis, one in a Wimbledon semi.
2 in the US Open semis, and there was a chance at an all Russian KC final.

The difference between 2004 and this year is that the same situations occured in 2005, and none of the Russians came through to a major final.

At least there was a Fed Cup repeat.

Everyone sure got very depressed in here very quickly. I am upset about the year as well since this is the first year I have followed every tennis result. But there is still hope for Nastya yet. She has nothing to defend until Wimbledon next year so she has plenty of opportunities to get her ranking high again. Sure she will have to beat good players frequently but if she is really one of the elite players then she should be able to. Hopefully Nastya can wipe this season out of her mind.

I have heard a rumour in Auckland tennis circles that a former GS champion may be playing here for first WTA Tourny of 2006 - In my dreams it is Nastya, but something tells me it's probably Conchita Martinez who has played here before  I know we don't want Nastya to play lots of low level tourny's - but at least let her play the one WTA event in New Zealand :bounce:

Well, Spunky would never lie!

Nastya would never lie either, I'm sure. However, we all know that Nastya exists in a slightly alternate reality, where her favorite food is apparently sushi from McDonald's, she loves and hates football, is best friends and doesn't get along with Lena D., etc., etc. When it appears that Nastya is either lying or confused, it's simply that we are incapable of understanding the subtlties of her worldview.

I think Nastyaīs English is good enough to communicate and read stuff which are not scientifically related. After all we also know that she reads the yellow-press magazines in the US

I don't think she enjoys reading English. A movie is different. She can understand the language, but she's not going to sit around reading English, and try to understand the little inside stuff.
I really doubt it.

Well the website is pretty basic. It is not like a novel and Nastya has to put everything together to understand what is going on. I think she can probably read a recap of a match that she played in.

Especially with my sophisticated english, it canīt be too hard thatīs for sure  I am already satisfied that she has at least once visited the site, donīt care about if she reads the stuff. English is a very easy language compared to others and personally, I think itīs easier to read it than listen to it. Every week, LOST freaks me out with the Aussie, English, hardcore Aussie-accents but I am up for the challenge ;)

Hmmm? No, no...thatīs where you are! She knows the website as we presented her with gifts in the past. Last time I talked to her, she said "yeah, I know your site" but I wasnīt sure if she really saw it. However, Luke our main webmaster asked her in Wimby this year if she knows the site and she said she really liked it. In fact, in Berlin, she just passed a bunch of kids asking for autographs (never seen that before, she was really sad) but only took a pic with me and I think just because I was from a-m.com and had a gift...hehe...

We already asked her once if we could make her official website but she said she had one (www.anastasiamyskina.com aka "www.coming-soon-till-a-year-now.com)

Shouldnīt be too big trouble. She doesnīt have to play tomorrow anyway, plus she was able to sleep through today. Besides, she doesnīt sleep at night, remember? Itīs not like Farina Elia plays earlier than her.

I think there was a match lately in Vienna which ended at 2 am  ...the ballkids younger than 18 were sent home and replaced by ballkids-leaders (the older ones)

Bad thing though: ES wonīt cover Schnyder/Maggie anymore so not sure which match they will show tomorrow then (I doubt it will be Nastyaīs as ES-commentators want to go home as well)

Ok, two quarterfinals tomorrow live on ES: 3.30 pm and 7 pm.

Matches are: 12.00/13.30/15.30/17.00/19.00 (incl. doubles)

It would make sense to let them open the day as neither Lena nor Nastya had to play today and play is still going on with a match yet to be played. On the other side, I think Eurosport might have something to say in this and Dem vs. Nastya is certainly the most interesting match tennis-wise although the Swiss might like to see Schnyder in one of the broadcasted matches...oh, oh, oh. Damn I really want to see that match but with our luck it might end up as first match on Center. 50/50 here we go Eurosport one fellas;)
