goldenlox Mar 19th, 2005, 05:37 PM I have to see the draw first. I figure she'll lose the first time we bet her  _LuCaS_ Mar 19th, 2005, 05:54 PM I'll have 25 anyway, I'm looking for good odds, she'll be fave at least until SF, so that proves my theory right. I hope I'm wrong though, in a good sense ;) martirogi Mar 19th, 2005, 07:19 PM i think 4th or qf :scared: i wish i had higher expectations  _LuCaS_ Mar 19th, 2005, 07:26 PM *waiting for Spunky to post her "1st round" answer* jmcfarla Mar 19th, 2005, 07:28 PM I'm not sure how far Nastya will go, but I hope for her to get at least one good victory, i.e. a top ten player or someone really playing on form. She needs something to get her confidence back and get this year really going. Here's hoping she can have a good tournament. :yeah: Spunky83 Mar 19th, 2005, 09:27 PM Well, today I hope that Kim wins in three (I´ve bet both on tourney winner and on sets). Come on KIM!!! :D ratio: 6.00 I need the money!!!! :bounce: yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! If my calculations are right, I will have 287,50 vbet-dollars!!! and yeah...Nastya will lose to Bye in the first round;) No, seriously, I have to see the draw first, there are some dangerous floaters, but I think third round. Spunky83 Mar 19th, 2005, 09:31 PM Ups...forgot there´s also a 4th round...4th round it is. I already told Lucas, I won´t change my avatar until Nastya finally reaches a QF again! _LuCaS_ Mar 20th, 2005, 09:11 AM Ups...forgot there´s also a 4th round...4th round it is. I already told Lucas, I won´t change my avatar until Nastya finally reaches a QF again! You really like this av don't you? :smash: I hope she'll reach QF just to see that thing vanished. Spunky83 Mar 20th, 2005, 10:24 AM  You really like this av don't you? :smash: I hope she'll reach QF just to see that thing vanished. Yeah, I wouldn´t mind if it vanishes...but well, I´ve made that rule...no av changing until nastya reaches a qf again. With all the big tourneys coming up, this is gonna be hard martirogi Mar 20th, 2005, 03:47 PM well now i know for sure she'll reach qf if u say it'll be hard. i wonder what your new avatar will be. i hope there are some good pictures from miami so i can change mine too. goldenlox Mar 20th, 2005, 06:20 PM Miami starts a period of time when Anastasia has almost nothing to defend. Now she can make her move up the rankings. _LuCaS_ Mar 20th, 2005, 06:38 PM Right GL This should be her schedule until RG: Miami(I), Amelia Island(II), Chalrleston(I), Berlin(I), Rome(I). Four tier 1 and a tier 2, tough schedule. Especially with the Belgians back. goldenlox Mar 20th, 2005, 06:40 PM It doesn't matter who's in the draw. It matters how well Anastasia plays. Loan me $50. I want to go to Aqueduct. PaulHopkins Mar 20th, 2005, 06:40 PM Miami starts a period of time when Anastasia has almost nothing to defend. Now she can make her move up the rankings. Phew! About time she started making that rise again after her poor year to date :D _LuCaS_ Mar 20th, 2005, 06:46 PM It doesn't matter who's in the draw. It matters how well Anastasia plays. Loan me $50. I want to go to Aqueduct. Still you delayed your prediction for Miami after you see the draw ;) The money are being transferred to your Swiss account as we speak  goldenlox Mar 20th, 2005, 06:48 PM I want to see the draw because I enjoy studying it. It's better than studying math  Anastasia hasn't been losing to players ranked ahead of her. So everyone is dangerous unless she plays well. _LuCaS_ Mar 20th, 2005, 07:00 PM I want to see the draw because I enjoy studying it. It's better than studying math  Anastasia hasn't been losing to players ranked ahead of her. So everyone is dangerous unless she plays well. So the lower she gets in the rankings, she becomes unbeatable. :silly: Really now, I miss those encounters so much (and not because of the odds :hearts: :hehehe: ). goldenlox Mar 20th, 2005, 07:04 PM I love these events, that have so many RR girls playing. Anastasia enjoys speaking Russian, so I know she enjoys it. Lena D. said that she doesn't know some of the younger Russian girls. Anastasia probably knows them all. martirogi Mar 21st, 2005, 04:54 PM draw in about 1 hour :smoke: if clijsters in anywhere near nastya i may have to kill myself. goldenlox Mar 21st, 2005, 04:56 PM After Miami comes the clay. After the FO, Nastya won Fed Cup matches on clay. Nine straight wins on clay. Almalyk Mar 21st, 2005, 07:37 PM Nastya will have to play Kim in R3! No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! goldenlox Mar 21st, 2005, 07:39 PM Anastasia has a bye as the #5 seed. Then Vento-Kabchi or Schaul. martirogi Mar 21st, 2005, 07:39 PM its rd 4 so not too bad Almalyk Mar 21st, 2005, 07:42 PM I just knew that it would be our luck that Clijsters would end up in Anastasia's part of the draw! Big runny poos............ martirogi Mar 21st, 2005, 07:42 PM 2nd rd Schaul 3rd rd Pennetta 4th rd Clijsters  i won't bother to do because well you know its the clijsters however this might fit into the impossible draw category in which case she'll beat clijsters, demen, momo, and serena to take the title :hearts: Almalyk Mar 21st, 2005, 07:44 PM 2nd rd Schaul 3rd rd Pennetta 4th rd Clijsters  i won't bother to do because well you know its the clijsters however this might fit into the impossible draw category in which case she'll beat clijsters, demen, momo, and serena to take the title :hearts: That would be a dream come true! :hearts: martirogi Mar 21st, 2005, 07:47 PM im just glad its not clijsters in rd 2 or 3. i was so relieved. if she does beat the clij (she might be tired) she has a good shot at semis and if she's well enough to make it that far she could take out momo or kuzzy for sure. beauty_is_pink Mar 21st, 2005, 07:50 PM Top Half Amelie - bye Anna C - Kirilenko Kirkland - Akiko Smash - bye Daniela - bye strycova - mandula parra - tatishvilli sprem - bye Petrova – bye Ivanovic – Q Kat – Nicole Jankovic – Bye Klara – Bye Dally – Q Neha – Q Sveta – Bye Elena – Bye Sucha – Linetskaya Kutuzova – VRP Maggie – Bye Golovin – Bye Haynes – Qualifier Perebiynis – Marta Bovina – Bye Dechy – Bye Mashona – Lisa Kim – Qualifier Amy – Bye Flavia – bye Sania – Toni Kabchi – Schaul Myskina - Bye Bottom Half Venus – Bye ALG – Q Anabel – Marly Fabi – Bye Paola – Bye Q- Q Kveta – Sesil Patty – Bye Elena L – bye Iveta – Denisa Virginie – Jill Ai – Bye Bartoli – Bye Marta D – Q Douchevina – Loit Serena - Bye goldenlox Mar 21st, 2005, 07:52 PM Anastasia has a record of 4-5 this year. Lets go one match at a time. _LuCaS_ Mar 21st, 2005, 07:52 PM No Justine in Anastasia's quarter :( That would have been perfect  I'm a little concerned about 2nd and 3rd round though  martirogi Mar 21st, 2005, 07:55 PM myskina will be well rested and energized, no need for concern goldenlox Mar 21st, 2005, 07:59 PM I think the Anastasia-Kim winner can make the final. I wouldn't be surprised if Linetskaya comes out of Lena D.'s section. Lets win the first one. _LuCaS_ Mar 21st, 2005, 08:01 PM Sania is there too, Anastasia you are not Sveta :smash: goldenlox Mar 21st, 2005, 08:05 PM Mirza took my money :bigcry: against Jankovic. martirogi Mar 21st, 2005, 08:05 PM tati will beat lena d, they had a close match last week :D :hearts: _LuCaS_ Mar 21st, 2005, 08:30 PM Lena must reach QF  So, studied the draw GL? Take your shot ;) BUBI Mar 21st, 2005, 09:04 PM :wavey: Third round: Mirza - Myskina  ( I wish) jmcfarla Mar 21st, 2005, 10:09 PM Hopefully Nastya has managed to regain her form in her break, cause she is going to need it. It doesn't look like Nastya is going to have any gimmies in Miami. Mirza, Clijsters & Lena D. in consecutive rounds would be really tough as all three have been in good form. But if you are looking to win a big tournament like Miami (and Nastya should be) then avoiding the half with Venus, Serena, Maria & Justine is definitely the draw you want. I think a QF would actually be an achievement for Nastya (i.e. beating Kim). But you never know a victory against someone like Kim could be the kick start that Nastya has been needing to get the year going. And if she made the QFs anything would be possible. But first things first Nastya has to focus and take care of the early rounds, hopefully with a couple of impressive preformances to get the confidence back. Almalyk Mar 21st, 2005, 10:09 PM I think Anastasia will be well rested for this. I think if she makes it through to the 4th round and beats Kim, it could be a turning point for her in 2005. PaulHopkins Mar 21st, 2005, 10:13 PM I think Nastya needs a match against Kim to be honest to re-establish herself this season. I feel she needs at least two big victories - maybe Clijsters and Lena D are the wins she needs! Gowza Mar 21st, 2005, 10:21 PM nice enough draw, mirza could be tough. but we dont know how nastya is playing atm. Almalyk Mar 22nd, 2005, 03:33 AM Any idea when she will be playing her first round match? Who is she likely to play doubles with? Vera Z? martirogi Mar 22nd, 2005, 03:41 AM first rd doubles is sun and mon so no draw for at least a couple days prob selyoink Mar 22nd, 2005, 04:01 AM At least her draw is not as bad as Amy Frazier's. Frazier has a bye and then Clijsters. I just hope Nastya can win some matches here. If she loses her first or second match it could be a very long year for her. Spunky83 Mar 22nd, 2005, 01:47 PM What a nice draw;)...omg goldenlox Mar 22nd, 2005, 02:10 PM Lena must reach QF  So, studied the draw GL? Take your shot ;)I already said, one match at a time. Anastasia is 4-5 this year. Beat Vento-Kabchi or Schaul. Spunky83 Mar 22nd, 2005, 02:26 PM Hey...at least Nastya hasn´t such a bad draw as Justine;) Theoretical path to the final Anastasia Myskina (..supposing the higher seeded player or highest ranked player wins the match) R1 Bye R2 Maria Vento-Kabchi R3 Flavia Pennetta (I think Mirza) R4 Nathalie Dechy (I think Clijsters) QF Elena Dementieva SF Amélie Mauresmo F Maria Sharapova Justine´s: R1 Bye R2 Samantha Stosur R3 Vera Zvonareva R4 Alicia Molik QF Maria Sharapova SF Serena Williams F Amélie Mauresmo I just see it as a big challenge...this is gonna be pretty interesting! _LuCaS_ Mar 22nd, 2005, 02:50 PM Hey...at least Nastya hasn´t such a bad draw as Justine;) I just see it as a big challenge...this is gonna be pretty interesting! But then again Anastasia is not Justine. Anyway it is going to be tough for Justine. Spunky83 Mar 22nd, 2005, 03:41 PM LOL...I am already longing for losing my vbet money as quick as possible, lol. _LuCaS_ Mar 22nd, 2005, 04:35 PM I hope you become broke soon enough, so that you cannot bet against Anastasia. Spunky83 Mar 23rd, 2005, 09:33 AM Nastya won the "Sony Ericsson WTA Tour's Diamond Aces Award", an award which goes to the player who gives selflessly of herself to help promote the game of tennis worldwide...hey, yeah...at least now she knows she gets honoured for slumping this season by fighting in the Fed Cup till the end of the year!!! YAY!!! Oh, she went to the dolphins again...she seems to like the dolphins. And yep, I love these photos! She looks really good...I bet if someone told her that Joachim Johansson and Sprem showed up in street-fashion, she would have chosen her jeans over black trousers;) _LuCaS_ Mar 23rd, 2005, 10:16 AM nastya plays her second rd match on saturday :D Thanks ;) Congrats for the award :bigclap: Maybe this will inspire her to start playing good tennis. She should take down Pennetta who rarely beats top players or performs well in higher tier events. Spunky83 Mar 26th, 2005, 07:25 PM Anastasia has never played Flavia. After Pennetta, the draw gets tough. Yep and Kim´s not even seeded (although she´s worth seeded Top Ten)...meaning IF Nastya goes out against her, the last win over a seeded player in a tourney was...well not in this year  . Although I have the feeling that Dechy might have something to say in this...Kims vs. Nathalie, I see a possible upset coming (I like Kim, but a revanche for Nastya wouldn´t be that bad) goldenlox Mar 26th, 2005, 07:27 PM It's possible Kim will be tired after IW, and 3 matches here. So, I hope it will be the second match tomorrow!!! But well...Nastya has to win this one first so: Goooood luck!!! _LuCaS_ Mar 27th, 2005, 07:21 PM :wavey: Anastasia starting soon right? Almalyk Mar 28th, 2005, 05:40 AM An exceptional second set of tennis from Anastasia. From what I can gather about 12 winners and 5 unforced errors. Also an excellent first serve %. It's time for Anastasia to beat her buddy. Spunky83 Mar 28th, 2005, 03:53 PM Well for what it´s worth, it´s not Eurosport´s decision...I doubt there are quality cameras outside of center court and it´s the Miami people who do the schedule or maybe their affliates ESPN. However, goldenlox, yes. Beating her good friend is a challenge for Nastya. I just hope she won´t feel pity for Kim in any way like she did last time when Kim had to call for the physio and totally blew a lead. Well, against Elena D. she always plays well...Kim already won IW last week, Nastya needs this win to gain confidence! She can do this, I just hope her head goes with her game today! goldenlox Mar 28th, 2005, 04:00 PM The best part of this is that Anastasia is playing well, clay is coming, and nothing to defend. So she should be ready to go after the top 5 in the rankings. She was going to start to play well. _LuCaS_ Mar 28th, 2005, 04:07 PM Hey, she is still playing MIami. Let's not act like she's already out. goldenlox Mar 28th, 2005, 04:10 PM I know. But Kim is onr of the most consistent players around. This is a tough match. So either way, Anastasia is ready for clay. Of course, I want Anastasia/Lena next round. BUBI Mar 28th, 2005, 05:01 PM Good luck Nastya :bounce: _LuCaS_ Mar 28th, 2005, 05:28 PM Crappy weather...it seems another white night for me  Spunky83 Mar 28th, 2005, 06:32 PM So...Momo made it...and I checked in my first won vbet dollars;) Now...uhhhhh...it´s getting hot...!!! goldenlox Mar 28th, 2005, 07:07 PM Kim won the first set, 6-3. goldenlox Mar 28th, 2005, 07:38 PM Kim won 6-3, 6-4. Anastasia was up 4-1 in the second. She has doubles with Vera. Now it's clay for singles. TheBoiledEgg Mar 28th, 2005, 07:49 PM Nastya :( :( :( she had a chance to go a double break but lost it completely :( :( Nastya's sister Mar 28th, 2005, 07:54 PM What happened??? I was checking the live-scores and one moment she was up 4-1 and the next moment . . . Suddenly it was all over. Almalyk Mar 28th, 2005, 08:18 PM Second set comeback by Kim reminds me of AO Quarter finals 2004....... Grrrr Nastya! Good luck for clay season. JLDementieva Mar 28th, 2005, 08:29 PM Second set comeback by Kim reminds me of AO Quarter finals 2004....... Grrrr Nastya! Good luck for clay season. It took me about a year to get over that match. What is up with Nastya and losing leads! selyoink Mar 28th, 2005, 08:35 PM A very bad result for Anastasia. She has had such a frustrating season so far with no good results. I really thought she was going to beat Clijsters too. Hopefully clay will bring good results. Spunky83 Mar 28th, 2005, 08:35 PM It took me about a year to get over that match. What is up with Nastya and losing leads! But last time it was Kim having injury time out which distracted Nastya. Damn, why couldn´t the rain set in when the choking started?!? jmcfarla Mar 28th, 2005, 09:29 PM Aaaaargh Nastya  I guess it has been that kind of year thus far. And I keep telling myself this is just one of Nastya's slumps, but I guess the frustrating thing is that Nastya isn't even getting to lose to top players. I know Kim is a top player, but in general this year Nastya isn't even getting far enough in tournaments to lose to the other seeds. (she only got to played Kim because of her unrealistic ranking). Nastya still has managed to even play a player ranked higher than her all season. :o (i think lindsay is the only other player on the whole tour who can say that). With Kuznetsova out, Mauresmo in dodgey form, and Nastya's record against Lena, this was a real opportunity to turn her year around with at least a place in the final. Nastya really needs something, anything, to kick start her season. Hopefully the clay will offer some better form and some much needed results. :banghead: Spunky83 Mar 28th, 2005, 09:53 PM Nastya still has managed to even play a player ranked higher than her all season. :o (i think lindsay is the only other player on the whole tour who can say that). yep...it´s really freaking me out selyoink Mar 28th, 2005, 11:45 PM The worst part is she wasn't even a great clay court player until last year. She had only won once at Roland Garros until last year. I hope she really is a great clay player. I have my doubts though. I will never give up on her though. selyoink Mar 28th, 2005, 11:47 PM A little bit of good news from the doubles side anyway. Nastya and Zvonareva won 6-3, 6-4 against Lee and Talaja. They are both out of singles as well. Nastya and Bepa should handle them now. I hope. goldenlox Mar 30th, 2005, 07:15 PM Anastasia and Vera lost to Sveta/Alicia, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Now comes the clay season. Anastasia played okay in Miami. I think she'll do fine this spring. Almalyk Mar 30th, 2005, 07:17 PM Such a close doubles match - I wonder who it was that got broken at 5-5 in the third set! So close at the end, but obviously it wasn't to be their day! Bring on the clay!! _LuCaS_ Mar 30th, 2005, 07:20 PM Anastasia played okay in Miami. I think she'll do fine this spring. Based on what? 2 victories over unknown players and a class-choke against Kim. She lacks the motivation this year. #1 is far away, the RG pressure is closing in. She needs a change. Another trainer maybe. goldenlox Mar 30th, 2005, 07:26 PM They're not unknown players to me. And Kim is a very good player. I remember the '04 AO, when Anastasia couldn't force a third set against an injured Kim. '04 turned out pretty good. Losing early is not all bad. Anastasia was doing that last spring. It allows the player to get rest, physically and mentally. So when they play well, and have a good draw, they don't tire as quickly. _LuCaS_ Mar 30th, 2005, 07:33 PM Losing early is not all bad. Anastasia was doing that last spring. It allows the player to get rest, physically and mentally. So when they play well, and have a good draw, they don't tire as quickly. Mentally it's exhausting. That's Nastya's problem. A psychologist might help her. Obviously no one dares to tell her. Epigone Mar 30th, 2005, 07:35 PM Obviously no one dares to tell her.Nastya's not that scary  Last year in Sydney, I told Bepa to stay cool on court. That could have ended in disaster :smash: goldenlox Mar 30th, 2005, 07:37 PM Nadia said that playing a lot of tennis is draining. Physically and mentally. And it weakens your immune system, so it's easy to get sick. I don't see the first part of this year as a terrible thing. Anastasia has had time to recover from Fed Cup and the YEC last fall. She should play better now. _LuCaS_ Mar 30th, 2005, 07:46 PM Actually she was complaining about the short break she had with the Fed Cup matches. She said she's just human, can't play 100% every time, like a robot. She could have taken a longer break (skipping Sydney and HC). Instead she felt like she had a shot at #1 and pushed herself in order to achieve that. "Workaholic Myskina eyes 1st spot" Her only motivation vanished into thin air. I hope she'll find another soon enough. goldenlox Mar 30th, 2005, 07:50 PM She played Fed Cup and Hopman Cup because she loves to play for Russia. That probably tired her out. Especially mentally. These U.S. clay tournaments are filled with good players. Lets see what happens. I would prefer that Anastasia peaks at RG, with fresh legs. Like last year. _LuCaS_ Mar 30th, 2005, 08:02 PM Can love back up a poor 2005? We'll see goldenlox Mar 30th, 2005, 08:07 PM 3 majors, and plenty of other big tournaments left in 2005. It's still early. martirogi Mar 30th, 2005, 10:32 PM i was very impressed with nastya's play in miami. just a few less unforced errors and it would have been 3 sets against kim who is playing top 5 tennis. i think she has a good chance to win amelia is, tho i dont know her record on green clay. she's well on her way back to greatness she just needs to focus more and clean up her game a bit. Spunky83 Apr 1st, 2005, 10:17 AM We have to be positive...look at this: Kim´s path to the final: Sandra Kloesel 6-0 6-1 Amy Frazier 6-2 6-3 Nathalie Dechy 6-0 6-2 Anastasia Myskina 6-3 6-4 Elena Dementieva 6-2 6-1 Amelie Mauresmo 6-1 6-0 ( ) So...is it just me or was it Nastya, who was the hardest opponent for her during this tourney? I could say that this will change in the final, but I bet my ass that Clijsters will roll past Sharapova. CHEER UP PEOPLE!!! Of course it´s just stats, but in the end Nastya managed to win as much games in one match as Kloesel, Dechy, Dementieva and Mauresmo taken together ;) IF Nastya hadn´t stopped playing at 4-1 in the second it could have gone either way, so....imo she´ll be having a good clay season! cerbero Apr 1st, 2005, 12:06 PM I love the smell of clay in the afternoon, don't you ? She falters against most top players. Also Davenport is not a great clay court player. I think Myskina could go far. Daniel Apr 3rd, 2005, 05:48 AM Petrova beat Serena on clay last year, Davenport won two clay tournamets too. They are dangerous players, Nastya has to bring her best game to beat them . :) martirogi Apr 3rd, 2005, 05:50 AM davy is the defending champ and venus won the other green clay event last year so the semi should be hard. petrova and martinez are beatable so id say anything less than semis is disappointing. in my humble opinion. Spunky83 Apr 3rd, 2005, 02:28 PM Ok, I just saw the draw and in my opinion she has a very kind draw. She has nothing to defend on grass also. Almalyk Apr 3rd, 2005, 08:19 PM All the best Anastasia- after a disappointing start to 2005 I hope the clay court season is where things start to pick up! goldenlox Apr 3rd, 2005, 08:27 PM She lost to Kim, who's in great form. There's no reason she can't do great here. And next week too, a Tier I. goldenlox Apr 4th, 2005, 02:56 PM Anastasia and Vera are back together as doubles partners. Anastasia has a winning streak on clay. Since round 1 of the FO. _LuCaS_ Apr 4th, 2005, 03:21 PM Keeping this team is good for both players. It looks like they really want a title soon. So does Anastasia. Green clay is a little different from red clay, but I hope the winning streak will continue. She plays on Tuesday? goldenlox Apr 4th, 2005, 03:27 PM Tuesday or Wednesday. Sometimes green clay plays faster than some hardcourts. Anastasia can do well here. It's a good draw, a good situation this week. _LuCaS_ Apr 4th, 2005, 03:41 PM If she plays on Wednesday ... means 5 "possible" days in a row (plus doubles), as the final takes place on Sunday.
