Nastya has to rest, and be ready tomorrow.

she will rest... maybe go to a jazz lounge now and listen to some good jazz quartet there up in montreal... then order a glass of red wine to loosen her up, help her wind down a bit.... head back to the hotel after the red wine which will make you a bit tired, and sleep for a solid 8 or 9 hours.

LOL.... maybe i should be nastya's chaperone. i'll make sure she enjoys each city and relaxes after each match.... ;) .... i'm silly.

ah crap... kinda... after a point i said something along the lines of "don't grab your back!". it looked like she might have tweaked it a little bit... it didn't seem like anything serious since she didn't ask for a trainer... but she looked a bit in discomfort when she went to sit down during the changeover... it was earlier on in the 2nd set when it happened.... :scared:

i didn't think it was her hip... i thought it was her lower back. ice and massage after the wine... or while drinking the wine... it will do the trick!! :drink:

before rogers cup:

davenport: 4274
mauresmo: 4031
myskina: 3996

now:
davenport: 4274
mauresmo: 4031 + 1 + 25 + 42 = 4099
myskina: 3996 + 1 + 25 + 42 = 4064

nastya's already defended her points from last year (3rd round) while mauresmo hasn't defended all hers yet... she must reach the quarterfinals.

Oh I just saw the match and definitely there was something wrong with her left hip. During the second set she often was pressing it with a hand, during the last changeover she was pressilg it and stretching the leg, she wasn't moving well as usually, and after the win she almost limped to the net. :crying2:
I'm really anxious now. Even if the injury isn't too serious she has no enough time between the matches and I doubt she can finish this tourney.:scared:
Why when the biggest dreams are about to become true this should happen .`If she misses her opportunities this summer because of an injury she may decide to retire even sooner:mad: :fiery: :banghead:

Please, be healthy Nastya  :inlove:

Gosh I hope nastya is okay
Maybe it wasn't that serious if she finished the match and even didn't called trainer. I hope doctors gave their best and she's able to play now. She's big chance of winning the tournament for sure so would be very bad if she had to withdraw.

rubin's getting old and you're so young,
she gets tired, you have an iron lung.
you run around rampant while she just stands,
you hit the ball so well, she just stares at her hands.

try to beat her quick, for you need to rest,
do you brush your teeth with colgate or crest?
during all the changeovers you look so cute,
i scream so loud, i need to have a mute.

your match has now started, but that i can't see
i'm reading the scoreboard, not watching on tv.

about the injury we all speak of... this is an article on the rogers cup website:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Myskina into round three

Russia's Anastasia Myskina ousted Arantxa Parra Santonja of Spain, 6-0, 6-4, in one hour and ten minutes on Wednesday evening. Myskina started off flying, quickly taking the first match in under half an hour. But the Spaniard didn't give in easily, turning it up a notch in the second set and keeping things close. While Myskina lost some power on her serve and started committing errors, Parra Santonja began to hit great returns.Myskina was bothered by a pulled muscle in her left leg, but it wasn't enough to deter the French Open champion, lifting up her level of play in order to avoid a third set.

Myskina converted five of 12 breaks points and was more efficient on serve, while Parra Santonja nailed four aces during the match. Myskina plays Thursday afternoon against American Chanda Rubin. "Chanda's a strong player. Even though I beat her last week, it's still going to be a tough match," said the Russian.

Earlier in the evening, Tatiana Golovin of France stopped Colombian Fabiola Zuluaga, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 and faces Gisela Dulko in the round of 16.

In doubles action, Amélie Mauresmo and Mary Pierce knocked off Bethanie Mattek and Shenay Perry, 6-2,6-3, while Japanese duo Shinobu Asagoe and Ai Sugiyama defeated Kristina Brandi and Rossana Neffa-De Los Rios, 7-6(5), 6-4. Both winners earlier in the day, Russians Elena Likhovtseva and Vera Zvonareva still had plenty of energy to eliminate Jill Craybas and Anne Kremer, 6-1, 6-2.

something nastya said after the match against parra as well:

French Open champion and third-seeded Anastasia Myskina, playing with a sore leg, advanced with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Arantxa Parra Santonja of Spain.

"I pulled a muscle, but I'll be OK," said Myskina, who will next face 15-seeded Chanda Rubin of the United States.

why does our nastya look so pretty?

you're a pretty pretty girl
yes, that is what you are
your beauty and your grace
can be seen from quite afar

you are playing hurt
you know you're such a trooper
but pretty please do not lose
for that would be a pooper

so just relax tonight
and please take real good care
wash your cute little feet
and scrub your dark brown hair

then wake up in the morning
and have something to eat
make poor maleeva run
like in a track and field meet

nastya take care of business
and do it really quick
maleeva's just a stepping stone
give her a real good kick.

by kick i don't mean hit her
i mean just beat her really good
but it's possible it can rain tomorrow
so try to wear a hood.

do your job in montreal
then head on over to greece.
the weather shall be pretty there
you might even wear some fleece.

just give me a call when in new york
i'll help you around town
when matches get tough and you are tired
i'll make sure you don't frown. :)

wooohoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go nastya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hearts: :drink:

- does one of your favorite songs go along with nastya? (the lyrics or the rhythm or just whether it reminds you of nastya?)
- does a certain movie represent the way nastya plays? is she like one of the characters?

Myskina, ranked fifth in the world, has been playing with confidence since her breakthrough victory at Roland Garros.
"It changed my life," the 23-year-old said. "Definitely my mentality changed after the French Open.
"I understood that I can play great tennis and I can beat top players. I'm enjoying tennis right now. I'm enjoying my life and what else is there but to play good and enjoy life?"

What else is there? There's poetry -

Nastya is brave. Nastya is bold.
Nastya is going to win the gold.
Nastya fights. Nastya also has fun.
Nastya is the next world #1.

But why is she scheduled to play the night match again? Doesn't Momo deserve at least one night match.:fiery: It will be before the clash with Capriati (i hoped Pierce to beat her but no). Again favourable schedule for the American. And it's Canada:fiery:

But Myskina remained unbeatable with her solid serve, a powerful backhand and great cross court shots. "I'm loving tennis right now," said Myskina. "I love being on court. I love spending time there. I'm happy right now." What does she want the most? Probably the Rogers Cup title... :worship:

AH,AH

We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot spring blows
How soft your fields of green can whisper tales of gore of how we calmed the tides of war we are your overlords
On we sweep with threshing oar our only goal will be the western shore

Myskina Sues Magazine Over Two Topless Photos

By RICHARD SANDOMIR
http://graphics7.nytimes.com/images/misc/spacer.gif
Published: August 7, 2004

http://graphics7.nytimes.com/images/dropcap/a.gifnastasiya Myskina, the French Open champion, accused GQ magazine in a federal lawsuit yesterday of failing to prevent a photographer it had hired to take photos of her for a profile from reselling two topless pictures from the same photo shoot to a Russian magazine.

Some of the photographs taken by Mark Seliger appeared in the October 2002 issue of GQ. But this year's July/August issue of the Russian magazine Medved includes a topless shot of her, wearing jeans, on the cover, and three other photographs inside, including another topless one, according to the lawsuit.

Myskina, who is seeking at least $8 million in damages, said that the defendants - GQ; its owner, Condé Nast Publications; and Seliger - had agreed that the photographs would appear only in GQ and could not be resold.

Her lawyers said in the lawsuit that the photos in Medved "are highly embarrassing and have caused Ms. Myskina great emotional distress and economic harm."

The suit, filed in United States District Court in Manhattan, accuses Seliger of profiting from her rise to prominence and it says that GQ and Condé Nast should have known that Seliger and his studio had sold the pictures to Medved without Myskina's permission - and "had a duty to prevent" the sale.

Maury Perl, a Condé Nast spokeswoman, declined to comment, and a call to Seliger's studio seeking a response was not returned.

"It's not a question of being photographed nude," Alexander Berkovich, Myskina's lawyer, said in a telephone interview from his New York office. "It's about a decision that others made without her permission."

The topless photographs, he said, were not supposed to be published.

"It was a total surprise to Anastasiya and to me," Berkovich said.

Berkovich said that by selling the topless photograph to Medved, the defendants were showing that they "want to capitalize on her status. Those photographs didn't show up for two years."

Myskina, 23, is the fourth-ranked women's tennis player in the world.

Myskina joins the final four

Anastasia Myskina moved into the final four after a straight set, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Magdalena Maleeva.

The No.2 player in the world lifted her level of play up a notch when at 3-3 in the first set, she broke Maleeva to take the set 7-5. Myskina dominated her opponent during long rallies that Maleeva lost due to unforced errors. The Russian also used effective cross court returns, forcing her opponent to run. She continued her solid play in the second, not alllowing Maleeva to get back into the match.

"In the first set, the huge crowd got me into it. I tried to do more than was necessary, " said Myskina. "Then I finally found my rhythm, concentrated and just played my game."

She's glad to have won all of her matches in straight sets. "It allows me to save my energy for the next match." She had the opportunity to watch Elena Likhovtseva's match today and knows what to expect in the semis. "I'll really have to play 100 per cent tomorrow. I'll have to play my game because if you give her one little opening, she'll walk away with it."

Nastya there is no Russian who can beat you twice in a row. You know it and I'm sure you will take your revenge tonight. But you should take it as quickly as possible, don't make the mistake from San Diego and when you have to serve for the match just do it unhesitatingly although she is your best friend. :armed:

Be focused. Play steady, get the lead. Finish it off. Don't let Lena get confident.
Start strong.

Good for Ola, but I really don't understand why she needs this. She can gain only about 100 points of every of these tourneys because of her 17th result but may lose a lot more because os a bad preparation, a tiredness or an injury. I'm glad she obviously wants to get that #1 butis this the best decision?

French Open champion Anastasia Myskina claims in a lawsuit that she never intended for two photographs of her appearing shirtless to be published anywhere, her attorney said Saturday.

Aug. 7, 2004NEW YORK - French Open champion Anastasia Myskina filed an $8 million federal lawsuit against GQ magazine, claiming it allowed topless photographs of her to appear in a Russian magazine without her permission.

The Russian tennis star said she never intended for two shots of her appearing shirtless to be published anywhere, her attorney said Saturday. The lawsuit was filed Friday in Manhattan federal court.

The photos were taken by GQ photographer Mark Seliger for a spread in the October 2002 GQ edition, and one approved photo of her fully clothed was published along with a profile of the tennis player.

Myskina’s lawyer, Alexander Berkovich, said his client retained the right to approve the photos prior to publication and resale was not permitted in the contract.
