Serena looks in such ominous form who can stop her?
Lisicki will need to play even better than she did at Wimbledon to give herself any chance..

But Masha's DFs were painful -- just PAINFUL -- to watch. At one point in the second set, she was making 50% of her second serves.

Sabine's at just 70% today (3 DFs in 10 attempts). They should have a stat for second serve %, especially in women's tennis.

Sabine's only chance to win was to serve well. Right now she's showing everyone how overrated her serve is, just like she did in the Sharapova match at Wimbledon. If your 1st serve % is 50 on AVERAGE, and you have no second serve, you can't win.

Unless that first serve % goes up, Sabine's only hope is to learn how to shorten rallies with better drop shots, approach shots (slice), volleys, etc. She doesn't stand a chance rallying against any of the top players consistently. To beat Serena, she needs that, AND a more consistent 1st serve.

Effective drop shots = a 6-3, 6-4 beatdown instead of 6-1, 6-2. But it might be better for Sabine to get crushed, so that she realizes how far she is from the top. She'll know that many things -- her tactics, her serve, her play at net -- need to change for her to become a Slam contender.

She's not as tall as most big servers (only 5'10"), she always goes big, and her toss is inconsistent. She looks so awkward when serving.

70% is unheard of on the women's tour, isn't it? For a big server, 60% would more than suffice, but she's not close to that.

Glad to see Sabine play better those last few games. But this match was basically a carbon copy of last night's beatdown of Masha.... Very disappointing to see two such matches consecutively. Serena served well and played solid defense, but both matches were handed to her.
