She should definitely get to the fourth round. However, Goerges could be dangerous. But I think that Petko can beat Goerges since she is more consistent.

If Julia has found her game, and she will have to, if she wants to get into the fourth round, I´m pretty sure, that she will take this.
I think, she`s the better player, but, no matter what`s the outcome, it would be a little high-light for German tennis anyway, if this will happen.:bounce:

Two of my favorites, I will have no pressure watching this match at all :)

Though I do believe Petko has the advantage because ARad has a hurt shoulder and has gotten here by facing inexperienced players and choker Dani. But she's played well in spite of that so Andy will need to play well to win. :D

Pretty bad luck, she would have beaten Radwanska at least in the 3rd set, how she did it in her FO matches and would have had a good shot at the title too. But on the other side, she had lots of luck bc of retirements in the past, so maybe a compensation. Most important of course are the USO, she has time to further step up her hc game, it wasn't too bad for the beginning.

Andrea in her Carlsbad Blog:
I had a little incident during the match. I was not feeling my best... I think I ate something wrong for lunch. I'm quite sure of it actually. First I thought it was a lack of energy so I ate a banana, but that made it feel much worse... after the first set I felt really drained and felt like vomiting all the time. I told the umpire I wanted to go to the bathroom because I had to throw up - I think everybody heard it actually! At the point where I ran out, I couldn't hold it back anymore. I didn't want to be on SportsCenter for the next 25 years.

I'm sure you don't want details from the bathroom but I felt much, much better after running off the court like a maniac :)

I had trouble finding my intensity after that. I needed five, six, seven games... that is too much. Maybe one game earlier and I could have turned it around.

Not a big shame to lose against in-form and experienced Radwanska, she has to play her best at the USOpen anyway. She had a remarkable test of mental toughness against Arn, which will be usefulI again.

I wouldn't make a big deal of a rather provisional (due to the point distribution) Top 10 standing. But generally good for German tennis to see these prime time matches on TV and reports in breakfast shows. Even if they have a rather low audience, it's big for a sport which is still on the fringe in Germany.

A shame the R3 match vs Kvitova is not on a TV court - world #11 vs world #6. There are 8 men`s and 8 women`s singles matches today. All 8 men`s matches are on TV courts. But on the women`s side only 4 are on TV courts! Disgusting. :fiery: That`s one reason why I hate ATP. The scheduling at combined events is always so anti-WTA. World #2 Zvonareva is not on a TV court. Image the men`s #2 not playing on a TV court - this would never happen. Bartoli vs Hantuchova should also be a good match. Thank God at least the scheduling at Aus Open, French Open and US Open is fair!

Don't even get me started on the scheduling. I'm missing 90% of my faves' matches because of this crap. Got lucky yesterday with Serena tanking for the wedding, so I got to see Bepa play at least once before the semis or whenever they decide the World #2 deserves to be on a show court. 'Cause Almagro/Berdych is gonna be such a fucking thrill ride...

I really hate these shared events. There's always at least a 2:1 ratio of men to women on the main courts, sometimes 3:1, regardless of the ranking of the females playing. I guess any old mid-level no-talent mug with a penis trumps any female top #10 player in the tennis world.

Aww too bad. But she is on her way up. She is always consistently winning multiple matches at the big tournaments now and taking the top players to really competitive matches and beating them too. I think a Top 10 year end finish should be to goal.

andrea played very solid in the beginning with good grounsrokes and sliceballs to the forehand of jankovic.

then she lost that completely after 4-4.
in the tiebreak she just played left and right instead of jankovics forehand..
.anytime jankovic could play backhand down the line..it was over for petkovic, but she didn't learn from that and played the same in the next point:rolleyes:

anyway, good tournament for andrea-now have a good rest for ny;)
