To me it seems like everyone is saying Su-Wei is better. I personally like Angelique

I like Su-Wei more, but I hope they both do well to help bring back Asian tennis to the top!!!

Being the top two asian future talents on the tour and both entering pros at the same time these girls are arch-rivals from the asian junior tour and will naturaly invite comparison - good question
Poeple seem to be talking more about Su-Wei .... probably because she's so young! yet still so talented ... Its probably a Premature question as both have just started out their pro career ... nevertheless it is an interesting question to predict
I would say Angie is the stronger of the two as on her day she hits the ball harder and is a bigger girl ... But Su-Wei is definently the more consistent of the two- especially regarding results. Angie doesn't seem so strong mentally.
Judging by Results Angie leads with winning her first pro career title on the WTA tour beating experienced pros on the way and winning Junior Wimby.
Su-Wei has won a string of Challenger titles, but for some reason Su-Wei seems to be the more deadly of the two despite having a less succesful junior record.
I would favour Angie because she seems to be able to play more powerful girls and exploit their inconsistency.... But the way Su-Wei has been going - it seems she is apparantly quite a powerful player who likes to go for her shots also .... so i will leave them on equal footing at the moment... but it will definently be more clear who will be the better of the two by the end of 2002

Can some one tell me more about these 2 girls? I've heard plenty about them, but I've never seen them play before

It is extremely difficult to say which one is the best and which one will go farther as they are both still so young.
I just read again an article from july 2000 regarding Shuei Peng and Su Wei Hsieh in the French "Tennis Magazine".
At that time, based on results of both players in a European tour with the ITF, everyone thought that Shuei had a far better future than Su Wei (though they were also certain that Su Wei would do well).
But for the time being, Su Wei is ahead of Shuei.
From the way I have seen both Angelique and Su Wei play, it would seem that Su Wei is more able to adapt her games to her opponents and take advantage of their weaknesses while Angelique is bashing the ball... in or out. This would explain according to me why Su Wei has had more consistent results.

Seems like Angelique can get beaten very easily sometimes... but Su-Wei always makes a fight of those matches she loses.

I hope they both will get into the top 20!!!!

I think Angelique Widjaja is better!!
She's the Junior Wimbledon Champion!!!!
And the lowest rank who get the title at SANEX WTA TOUR ever!!!

Let just support them to make top 50 by the year 2001..

I agree with Vixen and Steveg, this may be a premature question, nonetheless a very good question since these two are Asia's most potential players. At least that's what I think.
Angelique Widjaja is ranked 4 in Juniors and is the Wimbledon junior champion. Su Wei concentrated a little more on the pro tour compared to Angie's selection of tournaments, but then again it was Angie who stopped Su Wei's 39 pro match winning streak to become the lowest ranked player in 2001 to win a WTA tour event. Angie is now ranked 147, Su Wei is 164.
I actually have an article in Indonesian comparing Angie and Su Wei which I haven't had time to translate. But there's an article in English about rising Asian players that you might like.
Either way, I hope they both can entertain people with both their skills and their healthy rivalry.
GO ANGIE AND SU WEI

i know i have only seen them play one match each (today) but angie played like a truck against jenny and su-wei played like a future star! su-wei would have absolutely crushed angie today if they had squared up!
i was extremely disappointed with angies performance! :( she couldn't hit a ball in! i was that disappointed that i had to leave! hope she does better in 2003!
su-wei on the other hand... i think we will be seeing her in main draw if she keeps this good play up!
