Yes, indeed. She was 54 in the first TB and then hada a SP on the second, but overall a promising, decent scoreline against a great player. Keep going, Pau . Hoping she will play Baku as a WCQ  But she´s likely coming home i guess.

Please, check some playing activity of Paula: she has wins over three top 100 in five days tthis year, besides defeating Pivs 60 61. This is hardly shocker since her level has clearly upgraded. Hoping this will upgrade her ranking too.

MJMS blew a 40:0* lead at 5:2 in 1st set  There was a long break at 4:3 in 2nd set... Paula broke to love for a 5:3 lead then and she had like 5-6 SPs in 2nd set. Total points won 93:92... so close.

I know that :o
Still, MJMS once seemed to be a TOP 20 player and Ormaechea had big problems yesterday winning the final q-match

Ormaechea  All the credit for her

I think that the argie doesn´t have nothing to lose...and she played without pressure, Maria Jose was clearly favourite in this match and she won in two sets :)

after being defeated by Ardvisson in Bastad 6-4 6-7 6-7, this is a good way for winning

So? the fact that she didn´t play as well as she can sometimes doesn´t necessarily means she isn´t going to be good when playing a top player  . Tennis, women´s for sure, is all but logical, specially right now. How come Pironkova beats Venus two straight times and then she loses to some (very) lower ranked player?. I happens on all levels of pro tennis.

This was one incredible fighting match.

Paula is definitely one to watch out, had some great winners. :worship:
But she needs to work on her body language, talked bitchy to herself after every point she lost.

What was the long delay at 4-3 in the second set about?

MJMS had a medical timeout off court. Don't know what the reason was, there was no sign of injury.
