I just watched some Zurich highlights back when Ivanovic was emerging, and it made me think of how much I miss this tournament...

I really miss Hilton Head and Amelia Island even tho I hate green clay. I loved AI's CC it was so intimate and there was a big ole tree in the back which added to the coziness.

I always wanted to go Amelia Island just so I could climb that tree and watch tennis from that vantage point.

Zurich Indoor. San Diego being a Tier 1.

Scottsdale.

It pulled the best players because it was an IW tune-up, and conversely, it made have a California tournament that time of year not completely riduclous.

For me it's obviously Zurich, but I also miss Amelia Island, easily the best center court IMO. Philadelphia was great too.

I miss the whole European fall season.
But to pick one tournament, I think I liked Antwerp the most. It had such a nice atmosphere, the music when the players entered ... and of course the trophy.

Since almost all the european fall season disappeared, the WTA calendar just doesn´t feel the same.
Besides those ones on the survey, I will say Bahia, Sao Pablo and Canberra.

Amelia Island, Antwerp and Forest Hills.

Forest Hills because I used to go to the event and you are legit walking next to players the whole time. They have 3 hard courts though only:lol: They have grass and green clay at the venue as well. It is a bit in the middle of no where. But few people went during the free sessions throughout the week (final was the only day you had to pay money), the ball kids were like 7 and terrible. The scoreboard was old fashioned. No points in it, just games done by hand by a person sitting there in the corner of stands. Then there was pretty much no official pictures particularly of winners.

Also, got to meet Zvonareva there in 2007, pretty cool. So used to get to go to 2 straight events, but now only just one.

I remember searching everywhere for a pic of Meg with the trophy. She won 2 titles that year and both just happened to be the worst tournaments for trophy pics. Bad times. :tape:

Actually, did Forest Hills even give a trophy? Because I only remember seeing Likhovtseva with a cheque.

I don't know how would that sound, but it was the greatest clay tournament of the pre-RG weeks. There was something special about it.

And, of course, the fall indoors series. I remember Radwanska (about no.26 back then) playing qualifies for entering Zurich, now it's all MMs.:tape:

I know, these Asian events are too meh and don't even come close to the excitement that the EU indoor swing created.

I never went to the finals, but when Likhovtseva and Safarova (the first time), so 2004 and 2005, won they had a trophy similar to Budapest 2009. 2006, no idea like you said since there were no pics. 2007 and 2008 were checks.
