Even if they don't count, can the original poster include anything about Baku, Washington and Dallas?

This is a GREAT thread, thank you so much. Definitely worth keeping an eye out over the next weeks.

I think she'll only play NH if she doesn't go deep in Cinci - R1 or R2 loss will give her almost a week to recover. If she does well in Cinci, playing in NH would be suicidal.

Well, that's why she picked such schedule. It's not like she intended to win all 5 tournaments :)
She HAS to reconsider now. My fear is that she wants to fight for the money, and if Serena wins Toronto, she will try to play them all anyway, just to pass her in the rankings.

I cannot see inside her head, but I think winning US Open series is the least of her concerns. Doubling the prize money might be a great idea but she has to be able to play the US Open first. If she beats Stosur tomorrow she should consider withdrawing from either Cincinnati or New Haven. I just cannot see her withdrawing from both. Not that it would be too reasonable, she is in good form but might get a bad draw in USO and turn good season into a decent one.

No, you don't get a million dollars straight away for winning the US Open serries. However it will come as a bonus depending on how well you perform at the US Open.

If you are the winner of the serries and win the championship then you will get one million. You will only get 500 k if you lose in the finals, 250k for semis and only 15k if you lose first round according to the chart. The runner up of the serries will get half of the amounts above respectively.

To sum it up, its pretty good if you do well in the serries b/c of the bonuses, but the amount of money just become significant good ( to the top players), if they make it far in the main event, the US Open.

Kim Clijsters won the US Open and the serries and got over 2 millions. Since the prize for the Grand slam champion increases since but not the bonus prize for the US open serries winner, a case like Kim's would bank around 2.5 millions for this year.

The head to head in the current series would count, if they did not meet, the count of wins in the current series would count, since Woz has Byes in Cincy 1r and NH 1r, Serena would lead.

So, if Stosur wins Cinci, she ties on points with Serena, but Serena wins it, right? Given of course Radwanska won't take New Heaven by storm, now that Wozniacki is pretty vulnerable ...:hehehe:
